Looking for Romancing SaGa 3 Style Sprites

Thank you very much; that looks to be what I had hoped for.

Looking for Romancing SaGa 3 Style Sprites

Does anyone know of a site with either original, or modded/frankensprited versions of, character and/or battler graphics from the game Romancing SaGa 3? I could use those as the base for some battler stuff I'm working with at the moment.

Please note: I'm asking for a link to a site, not offers to create sprites. While I would appreciate such, I'm not 100% certain I'll be sticking with the style of monster/backdrop/etc I'm currently using (I'm a bit squeamish about potential legality problems behind SquareEnix stuff, even commonly-used rips, and even in a non-profit game), and I don't want to put anyone besides myself to any serious effort since I might not use the results.

Please also note: I've already hit the Charas-Project site's supply of RS3 sprites, and those available on The Shyguy Kingdom. I've tried RPG-Icons, an old site I used to hit, but it appears to be down, as does the Spriter's Resource (The new site from the Shyguy Kingdom team), although that may be resolved soon, so I'll be checking back there. I did find one Japanese site that appeared promising, something called romancing @ Wiki, but even with the Google Translation option, I can't quite parse what the site is saying, and all of their 'on-display' stuff appeared to be Front-view single images only. The only other source of RS3-style sprites I know of is Brasington Lane (or more specifically, their DW4:Renaissance project), and I don't feel right trying to take those without permission.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I need testers, a lot of em'.

What engine is this being built with? If you're not working with RMVX, I might be willing to test it out.

There is for me, you can have black-red or white-red. White is Lightning, Light while Black is gravity or magnetism. They even have their own symbols with their powers combined they summon --! Ha! Just had to take a shot at your avatar.

But yeah, the symbol looks like a golden nova if it's white-red, it's an oily drop if it's blue-red, etc. Of course my current project is supposed to be simple so I'm not sure I'll make a cross table of icons. While WeaponSoul is a completely random name, NovaForce is named after the fact that the main character (The one who's sprite was duplicated during a test) is white-red.

Sounds like an interesting system. Any projections as to when a demo will be available?

PS:
Seriously though, Heart?! What the hell was that >.<

Given that its polar opposite appears to have been Hate, it would seem to be Love or something similar. Given the politics of Ted Turner, one of the co-creators of the show, it could also be seen as a form of hyper-tolerance. And, given the way it was actually used on the show, it appears to have been nothing more or less than telepathy, although perhaps with a bit of spider-sense thrown in for the ride.

So you're using Chrono Trigger's 'Heaven' element? Lightning bolts + Huge bursts of Lumin(aire)?

Given that Undead are dark-type, does that mean that healing spells repair the undead?

Ctrl + f'd pokemon. No result.
Read it. Still no pokemon.

You are correct, and I apologize. I was apparently thinking of another discussion on this topic I'd taken part in.

What element is Lit - Lightning or Light?

Ice against fire makes perfect sense, it's just a bit of delayed logic when thinking about it.

Consider: A fire requires three things to occur: Fuel, Oxygen, and Heat - together, they trigger the combustion reaction. Remove any one of them, and the fire dies. So while throwing ice cubes on a fire might not have much of an effect, slamming a gigantic chunk a la the old iceboxes just might - and if that chunk is solid enough, it's also acting to remove oxygen from the equation, knocking the fire out faster.

And while I can't really speak on the 'wood/earth' issue, your earlier Spiderman reference does occur. Hydro-man and the Sandman were once combined into a single mud-based creature, which was apparently easily defeated, and the wikipedia page for Hydro-man notes that cement can be used against him.

A thread about elements in rpgs and no mention of Pokemon? Really?
The combat in that game is CENTERED around elemental types.

As the thread's originator, I would like to point out that there was a mention of Pokemon in the first post - as a 'what I'm not looking for' example. Although I freely admit my own in-game elemental logic will probably be just as nasty once it comes down to the wire...

Pokemon did have a good element system, but no light element? They had a dark and even a ghost, so why not light?

But anyway, the Chinese elements is interesting but, it'd be hard to put into a RPG logically.

I'm not certain, but I'd guess that Psychic may have been a light-type equivalent...especially when you consider that the darkness and death associated ones mentioned are those which are opposed to (strong against) psychic types.

Alternate Elemental Interpretations

Thank you for the discussion; it's been interesting seeing what everyone has to say.

For my own part, my thoughts on the idea were to wonder whether or not elemental strengths/weaknesses could be freed from physical endurance - that is, whether or not a setup could be made that had effects other than the damage multiplier everyone associates with 'elemental'. I think DFalcon came close to what I'm thinking of with his last mentioned item.

Consider the following two options: One a piece of equipment, the other a skill.

Equipment: Firebalm.
Type: Shield
Elemental nature: Strength
Elemental type: As the name implies, fire.
Special effects: When the bearer of Firebalm is hit with a fire-elemental attack, s/he will take damage as normal, then be placed in a multi-turn regenerative status called 'Healing Warmth' - 5%MaxHP per turn, lasts 5 turns. If hit again before the counter runs out, counter is renewed.

Skill: Frozen Fume
Type: Single-enemy attack.
Elemental nature: Weakness
Elemental type: Ice
Special effects: After being hit with Frozen Fume, any ice-elemental attack that hits that enemy will also have a chance of triggering various negative status effects. Or, in other words, it creates an elemental weakness that turns anything ice-elemental, like the lowly Blizzard, into the functional equivalent of a Malboro's 'Bad Breath' ability.

Has anyone ever played around with that kind of idea before?
