Hey, I love your game but I'm kinda frustrated because I can't find the hiding spot it chapter 1. I tried the sofas but it didn't work. Where can I hide?

Never mind, I made it. But I'm having trouble with the security passcode even though I read the instructions,

Whenever possible, try to avoid double posting. :)

But can she sing?

Apologies given for my previous comments, it wasn't my intention to cause any sort of fissures...

The reason it isn't is because they removed it so as not to show their shame in how they acted about the game after they were banned from the site for what happened. I did say that earlier and tried to explain where I was coming from but you weren't willing to listen about that.

The basics, if you were interested, was this:
- someone left a 1-star review on their game.
- a fan of theirs left a 5-star review on their game after that (very obviously deliberately to counter-act the 1-star review).
- shit fell out on the pages of the two reviews
- interested, I stepped in and did both a video and a review, giving it a 2-star rating and pointing out a bunch of ways the game could be touched up a bit, but also praising certain areas that were done quiet well (there were some pretty neat graphical touches, and the end part was actually interesting)
- a ton of fans of the game (sent by the creator) swamped the video I made and screamed bloody murder about any negative and/or constructive comment I'd made in the video, overlooking any of the good things I pointed out and going so far as to hate on me over such idiotic things as assuming the long-haired person we saw in the title screen was the wife who was missing (an easy enough thought to have considering the description mentions a missing wife and the person has their back turned to you)
- when the dev passive-aggressively 'thanked' me for my review (which was quite detailed and balanced) and then started causing more crap they were told to knock it off
- in response they broke the rules of the site in a big way, editing the css to show only 5 stars on their profile, blocking access to the review page, showing only 5-star images for the reviews if you did manage to get to them... all things that are breaking the rules.
- they were asked to stop that and warned that if they did it again they would be banned from the site
- they then changed the stars to mocking happy faces (still kept at five stars, though) and thus got banned.
- in a fit of 'fuck you' they removed their game from the site because god forbid anyone see a less than perfect score on a demo that had unfinished graphics in some areas and no build up to the story at all

Quite the backstory here, similar review situation over on Black Winter (except the developer themselves giving the review over on another account), wanting a 5 star review to counteract a 1 star review.

Throwing fans of theirs at you and swamping you with negativity, pointing out good things and bad things is part of the experience on how a let's player/let's trier plays the game, a perfect score is always suspicious on a game (unless the game itself has only one or two reviews). Not going to lie, on my last video on Black Winter I threw a mini-tantrum about some of the comments stiven202 put on other games...particularly on Restless Dreams.

Without thinking about it, when I saw the comments about css...that was an instant NO for the developers, such a cowardly way to show a biased perfect score.

All in all, the entire page to read was less than satisfying to witness, everyone other than the developer and those biased with the developer (including yourself and unity) were giving reliable, helpful information they can definitely benefit from...the developers responses by the end became short one lined signs of giving up.

...so yeah, I'll always be more than a little peeved with that particular developer because I had to deal with them, asking them to please not make a big fuss, giving them a second (and third) chance to stop breaking the rules and they shat in my face instead of acting like an actual mature person and taking the critique that was meant to help them get better. (Here was my review of it and the reply: https://rpgmaker.net/hiddenreviews/2801/
You, uh, had to see the other review to get just how passive-aggressive this guy was being, though. Basically the review CashmereCat wrote was quite good but the dev went all "You didn't even play it because you got through it in less time than my playtesters did and that means you didn't give it a fair chance!" Meanwhile my video of it took about as much time as Cash played, so... not a valid complaint, especially since the review was pretty good: https://rpgmaker.net/hiddenreviews/2789/ )

Both your and CashmereCat reviews were very clear and straight to the point of what the developer needed to do in order to mend/improve their game...additionally I thought CashmereCat's review gave more than enough information about it for a 15 minute (apparent 50 minute) demo. Beta testers would always take their time to play through the game to report on bugs, glitches etc (unless they got 15 and 50 mixed up, but that's highly unlikely).

As for Pocket Mirror - quite a bit the same. They were given a 5 star review which expounded the graphics and story and everything as awesome. Someone else played and didn't agree - the graphics are pretty but there's not much else there at all - and pointed out that the game is pretty much fairyfloss: all sugar, no substance. I did a video on it and pointed out parts that needed fixing and how it was less a horror game than a walk through pretty maps game. People argued.
Fast forward and the dev started breaking site rules to farm buzz so that the game would show up on front page. I PM'd them asking them to stop as it was against site rules. They stopped.
Fast forward a bit more and they were doing it again, this time with blogs. Again pointed out to stop and they did.

On the bright side, once they got your warnings they stopped repeating posts to farm buzz, the only ones I've seen were the three blogs that had exactly the same image on it along with reading your comment on the top one. A game's artistic features to me is a very minimal part that makes it good (it is eye pleasing though), but the backstory, programming and horror is far more important to make apparent, that in turn was lacking in the demo of PM.

Granted, it's a lot tamer than what happened with Konstandin but it grinds my gears when people try to help others just to get dismissed because it's not what the dev wants to hear. I have a LOT of time for developers on the site - I'm always happy to help people out if they need it and I've spent a lot of time over the years doing so. I do NOT have time or desire to deal with idiots and I will call people out for doing bad things because I'm not just going to say "Oh jolly good show, sir, jolly good show" and ignore what they've done in the past.

Self explanatory in itself.

I'm blunt, I swear and I mean what I say when I say it. It can be a bit abrasive, I know that, but it's who I am and how I deal with people. Be open to critique, follow the rules and don't act like a douche and I won't have a problem with ya, but if you do act an idiot in all three ways, when mentioning you in passing I won't have anything nice to say. Sorry if that makes you unhappy to hear but thems the breaks.

I'm very grateful for you being honest throughout, while I'm unhappy about the verbal profanity it's definitely not in my place to tell others what they should and shouldn't say, once again I'm really sorry on what I said previously.

Don't get me wrong, though. I do wish the devs in question the best of luck and hope they pull their heads out of their asses and actually take what they were told and work on their games to make them better. That said, I'm still gonna cuss a few times when their names pop up and/or use them as examples of what not to do, especially in contrast to those who have done better.

Wish all developers every bit of success with their games...with the mindset that they will get critique comments, but whether they take it well or not is up to them. Thank you for writing all this out, really appreciate the details. :)

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, FB. Your passive-aggressive insults towards Liberty may not contain swearing, but that doesn't mean you aren't being hurtful and hypocritical. Frankly, she was blowing off steam about people in the past who had ignored criticism. Her comments had nothing to do with the current game, Aria Story, which she praised.

Yes you should be courteous when giving criticism, certainly. But, if that criticism is ignored and thrown back in your face, if the author cheats the system and makes it look like they've gotten nothing but perfect scores when multiple people have given them bad reviews, if the author has shown total disdain for others and openly mocks them, then the situation changes. Perhaps you should go look at what happened with Konstandin and that author's meltdown so you at least know what's going on.

And if Liberty, who had to deal with all of that, wants to be honest about her feelings towards people who caused multiple members of this site a lot of grief with some swear words in her own video, she has a right to do so. If this was a video of their game and she was playing it for the first time, then yeah, it might be out of line. But the truth is this wasn't a video judging them. It was an off-the-cuff remark about people who, frankly, have wasted a lot of our time and haven't cared one iota about our honest, swear-free criticism.

Thank you for saying that, you're quite right I was being hurtful and hypocritical, I really appreciate you saying this especially since you looked at this situation from both sides. I'll do my best in future to avoid these sort of circumstances. :) I would check it out if the project page was available to view.

You need your eyes checked. There's nothing wrong with the grammar, unless you mean the use of ain't, yo and other such slang terms. (If that is the case, perhaps you should learn a bit more about the rules of language.)

I'm referring to your constant swearing with what I mean by poor grammar (slang is all cool, nothing wrong with that).

Also, you're the one who started this by commenting on an old video about something completely arbitrary. Perhaps in the future you could choose not to try stirring shit up over something that has nothing to do with you and of which you have no idea.

You're the one who stirred this up in the first instance with your rude remarks on other peoples games, it's perfectly fine having those thoughts but the execution of those thoughts makes the difference between constructive feedback and random, pointless, rude blabbering. Rather than "shit" or "the developers can go fuck themselves", say something that allows the developer to gain feedback from...not that hard right?

But can she sing?

Neither do you know what you're talking about...spouting poor grammar ISN'T calling one out constructively, again works both ways but there we go...

But can she sing?

Ever heard of a double bladed sword, when you say something like "go f*ck yourself* imagine someone saying that to you, or have you had that enough times to become immune to the effect.

Perfectly understand where you are going with repeated materials used over and over again, it's one way to make the game be put within "Buzzing Games" for heightened awareness, the only time when one should put up content is when it is content no one outside the development team has seen (the public).

Also understand about the differences between developers who take constructive criticism and applies it to mend, add or better the games experience while at the same time appreciate the feedback given...and something who either ignores or portrays the feedback as a threat to them as people.

Demos are excellent platforms for developers to use to get feedback on their game...but remember it's a demo not a full game so don't expect the whole experience within a demo, there are bad developers, but then when you say "go fuck yourself" that makes one a bad member of the community and also extremely childish. An experienced with rpgmaker, totalitarianistic mindset where one only accept 1 kind of developer attitude, 1 kind of structure to the backstory to the game, that all demos MUST include everything that's show within the full game.

You get good games, you get bad games, you get good developers, you get bad developers, you get people who just want one thing from the game, you get people who likes the game as it is. If everyone says "idiots deserve to be called out for their bullshit actions" then that really sums up both your attitude and mood towards the situation (whether you like the opinion or not), extreme knowledge within a particular area of expertise also equals stubbornness and a lack of common sense, because you simply cannot accept another opinion face value.

Have a wonderful day.

''Hey Pocket Mirror and Konstandin can go fuuuuck themselves'' I thought that was pretty mean even if you didn't like them, until I read the posts on Cash's review >_< (People seem a lot kinder on tumblr)

Don't worry Frogge, what one says within their videos gives off their reflection/personality and if they say nasty things, then that's their attitude towards life.
