RPG Maker VX was so advanced that it did away with variables entirely. It was only until seasoned creators started complaining that they couldn't envision a world without variables that anybody decided to do something about it. ^^

The sad thing about VXA and its shadowing is that it feels like such an afterthought. You can't even choose the direction the shadows fall from and in some areas it's so inappropriate for them to exist!
It shouldn't be one of those things you have to fix with scripting..

I had a question about legal stuff.
Some people would sell their games on CDs before it became easier to sell your stuff on the internet. I don't think there were any well-known games that did it, especially not in the communities!
I had a question about legal stuff.
A lot of people have had success in commercially selling their games made in RPG Maker! The Aveyond and Laxius Force games are two good examples of this.
I would also like to say that people have sold games made illegally with software going all the way back to RPG Maker 2000. I haven't ever heard of legal action being taken against any of these games. I'm not trying to say it's okay to do this kind of thing though, let's be ethical here. :D

What's with the hostility on this page?? *_* Erave's team game looks fine for what it is. I see a very traditional looking RPG, maybe a little too traditional, but there are people who like to play those kinds of games.
Calling it stupid just isn't very constructive though...

Can I Make a game ???
Don't let age get in the way of ambition! If you have a dream, you should keep chasing it even if you follow it all the way to the end of your days.
You can learn while you make a game, and within a year I'm sure you'll have something to show for it. With RPG Maker, most of your work will be writing your story and filling up the game maps with content. It can be a lot of work for somebody new, but it's worth it!

The Top RM Games Of All Time
I remember a lot of these games in the list! I think A Blurred Line is much older than 2007 though. I think maybe its last version was released around 2002?
Hasn't anybody mentioned Velsarbor yet? It didn't have a very good story, but its technical design and graphics are pretty lovely even for today's standards. ^^

Kickstarter RPGs?
I think a lot of people in RPG Maker communities are really all about the indie and free aspect of their games, so it hits a bit of a sore spot when people talk about pitching their project on Kickstarter. I remember the Amaranth games owner got a very cold reception from a lot of people when she first was trying to sell her products, and those used a lot of original assets.
Despite that, if your project is nice and you're willing to polish it up to a high standard, I don't see why you wouldn't want to use Kickstarter!
Is your game free to play? I think that it would be nice to send physical goodies to people who are supporting your project, but it might not be the most practical thing to do if the entire thing is supposed to be free.

I was never in it for the money to support the game, but more towards the stuff I'd give back to fans of the game.

Well shoot

There's a homebrew mod making the rounds at the moment that bypasses the 3DS' region locking. Not to play bootlegs/roms, just to play real games from anywhere. It's currently bricking machines all over the world!
Oh gosh... Don't those people test these kinds of things before letting them out there? At least they are very elegant looking bricks.
Maybe the broken 3DS was just part of a bad batch? I had a Game Cube that became a paperweight after three months, then got another one later that still loads up to this day.
