Most tripping features on an RPG?

Smoke weed every day.

Seriously though, just make a good game. I'll get high in real life and play it.

If you're looking for an example of a trippy game...

Alien Punching Simulator is now one of my favourite genres.

Minimizing Mapping: An Abstract Exercise In Game Design

What if the entire game takes place in a single location? Say you're a king sitting on your throne, and the entire game consists of interacting with advisors, subjects, etc. This could be adapted to being a president or mayor in the modern world, a commander of a space ship, or even a pirate captain.

The thing is, the less maps you have, the more writing you will have to do. Content is content.

What's the story with IG Maker?

For what it's worth, Skyrim's Creation Kit is basically a AAA-level RPG maker. Not so easy to use, though.

How's the progress going so far? Any updates?

Help with basic bag system.

Thanks Liberty, I think I've got it more or less figured out. It's even simpler than I thought. The player can carry all four bags at once, and each just increases overall capacity by one, so as long as I'm careful about checking inventory, I can just do a +1 to Capacity whenever I give the player a bag. Then I compare Capacity to Cargo and time I want to pick something up, and add the requisite amount to Capacity. When I deliver it, I just subtract. Now I just have to make sure it works...

edit: It seems to be working so far! Thanks for your help Liberty. If anyone has any questions about how I got it working, feel free to ask.

Help with basic bag system.

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I'm hoping it won't be too complicated.

1. I will have 4 different bags in the game, one of each.

2. Each bag increases Cargo Capacity by 1, to a max of 4.

3. Picking up any item of Cargo decreases Cargo Capacity by 1. Dropping it increases it, etc.

4. This is unrelated to actual inventory capacity. I want this limit to apply only to specific Cargo items. Player should be able to carry any amount of other items.

The idea is that early in the game, the player can only carry a small amount of Cargo for trade. Later on, your capacity increases. Most of the inventory scripts I've seen look extremely complicated, with way more features than I need. Can anyone give me a hand getting this to work?

Thanks for looking.

I think that I basically just need something like this:
if [Burlap Sack} is in inventory, add 1 to [Capacity]
or
if [Burlap Sack] is in inventory, [BSack] = 1;
if [Linen Bag] is in inventory, [LBack] = 1;
[Capacity] = [BSack]+[LBag];
but I don't really know the syntax for this code.

Rpg maker vx child sprite

The thing about the chibi art style is that they're already children. I mean really, that guy up there looks like he's about six years old. If the adults look like children, what do the children look like?

Getting a new graphics card?

You can probably see now the problem with upgrading such an old machine, as GreatRedSpirit mentioned. If you can get a few hundred together, you should just buy a new PC. Even Alienware has a machine that is more powerful than the latest consoles for $500 or less. Really you should be able to just get a case, mobo, processor and power supply and you should be ok with the graphics, HDD and RAM you have, for now.

Hi, I'm Gavin and I want to make ancient historical games.

Looks good to me...except that guy levitating over the post by the horses. Welcome to the site! Pleased to meet you!

Yeah... he's supposed to be leaning on the wall. Any suggestions on how to achieve that?

Hi, I'm Gavin and I want to make ancient historical games.

Pretty much what it says in the title. I have all sorts of "dream games" in my head, so I decided to take some steps in the right direction, which means an open world, historical RPG set in ancient Greece. My first game will be reasonable in scope, but I plan to iterate from there.

Here are some screenshots:

Here is the Greek tunic clothing I made. Just put it in the "Male" folder of the generator, and name it like the files in there. Feel free to use this for whatever, just give credit.

Don't go too easy on me. I am a graphic designer, but I'm a noob to RPG Maker and pixel art, so give me all the feedback you can. I've been using Photoshop for about ten years now, so if you have any questions in that area, let me know.

So far I have a basic understanding of mapping and quests, but I'm struggling with making an effective, balanced combat system. I'd like to have it be somewhat realistic, where weapons aren't hugely different in terms of power, but will allow you to attack in different ways. If anyone has any pointers on designing a balanced combat system, please let me know.
