That dynamic lighting is very impressive. I'm really familiar with the Ancient Dungeon tileset and you're using it really well. Keep up the good work!
If you want to talk story ideas, PM me! Are you looking to connect major set-pieces or just add sidequests?
A bit of both.
Sending you a PM.

nevermind beat it yay!
but why game is such a short? will it be second episode?
Game is awesome
It was made for a gaming contest (IGMC) and the game could only be about an hour. I'm currently working on a v1.1 version with lots of fixes/additions, after that I will indeed, expand the game ;)

I don't know if you've updated it since, but... meep!
The intro sequence was okay, for lack of a better word to describe my feelings on it. It wasn't bad, but it didn't really wrap me into the game. It also introduced a lot of characters that seem like they'll only be pertinent later on, but maybe you could have paced it better? I also don't really grasp the conflict going on in this story since that chancellor guy and his NPC-looking cronies got killed and the world was saved...?
It doesn't help that you add an immediate dissolve into the house with your main characters with little to no context in between.
Getting past the terrifying facial expressions (everyone has huge smiles, do they?), I fiddled around in town for a bit before figuring out where I need to go to get to the forest. I encounter my first battle against slimes and it was this point where I started groaning. Those things have way too much HP and all of my characters feel pathetically ill-equipped to handle them, in terms of how it feels to play them.
Your first battle is one of the most important parts to an RPG. It gives the player a sense of the tone of the entire game, and they should allow the player some relative safety to learn basic battle tactics without being punished too harshly for it. You should also think of these battles as mini-puzzles: obstacles with preset enemy tactics for the player to figure out. There is a reason why the slimes from Dragon Quest died in only about 2-3 hits in low levels, because with an introductory enemy that does nothing but land basic attacks you, the player already gets the point of the fight. Dragging it on further doesn't make it challenging, it makes it wear out its welcome and become boring real fast.
Anyway, I got into an encounter with a flower and a slime troop and died, then I realized I didn't save unto that point and quit. I MIGHT be willing to give this game another chance, but right now I'm having mixed thoughts about it.
Still working on it. Had hoped to have the updated version out in feb/march, but real life got in the way.

Weird and Unfortunate Things are Happening
Awesome to see my Luna Engine work in action! Can't wait to play it ;)
By the way, I put a tiny Easter Egg into Escalia, in one side quest the main character had to search for someone's dolly.. named Dottie ;)
