Old/Lost RpgMaker Games - SegNin's Rare/Obscure RM Games Request Topic
author=krum110487
Not a problem! I have a huuuuge list of games to wade through, if I post a google docs sheet, would you guys help find the author? I have about 700 to go through and with a csv sheet I can automate renameing. Finding the author is by far the hardest and most time consuming part.
This will be a list of ONLY items not found on this thread, and if it does show up, it means I have a copy that is a slightly different size.
Anyone interested? If there is interest, I will work on making it. That way I can focus on the installer and other things I am working through still.
Thanks,
I have collected plenty of old sources in my notes and could assist you in figuring out some of the authors. Above sites in my last post should already cover most of your PSX collection.
Concerning vizzed.com, there's nothing there in those URLs that isn't already backed up on multiple sites. Only the file for The Last Tale was hidden away on the server because davideo7 never bothered to fix a broken link.
Windows 11 [Update - Ridiculous Min Requirements]
If I execute the legacy RPG_RT.exe, the game starts but no input is processed, so I'm stuck on the title screen. Windows 7 compatibility mode seems to work but a weird side effect is that my explorer always crashes when a game is started. That seems to be a problem with the changing of the screen resolution in Windows 11 though.

author=krum110487author=michale4267That may be where I got it from actually! cause I do have a "Mega up" folder locally so I must have downloaded it, thanks for that!
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/cmdgt1zpp0o9t/Mega+upThe Eternal Struggle ,Legacy of Fafnir, Reign of the Demon King
in my download list on mediafire, enjoy!
Also, I just realized I have about 167 memory cards for ps1 rpg maker, which I cannot for the life of me figure out where I got them from originally. Googling for them is really hard.
These are probably exceedingly rare at this point, so I will just post them here.

Great, there's so much PSX games that are lost.

Old/Lost RpgMaker Games - SegNin's Rare/Obscure RM Games Request Topic

Kind of curious, but did anything from RPG Tsukūru Dante 98 manage to survive?
Also how many Rpg Maker 95 games are currently lost?
A few weeks ago I did some research into it and compiled a list of around 200 known games that are currently lost:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1btHs7mSCRthMiCTDLq48_jzO21l7CgQDhECC5Iaxi3I/edit#gid=0
Some have been found and uploaded to rmachiv.de since then. Among the last few recovered (Thanks to scene veteran Ok Impala!) was "Dreamer" by Geluhvsgatsiskwa. One of the earliest games that has some compelling writing. :)
EDIT:
I also came across VideoWizard's old reports about the first RPG Maker contests, the Falcate Awards, and documented them on Makerpendium. Many of those are still lost and would be great to rediscover. Games like Alpha: MFG which scored 98% in Comedic Writing or Temple of the Druids which came in second place...

EDIT 2:
Here's some old russian site that features 2 games made with Dante 98. Took some time to find it in my browsing history:

It's really bugging me that I can't remember this—heck, I can't even be sure this whole thing isn't some sort of imagined memory or misremembering of a dream or something—and I don't know any keywords that would be helpful, since searching for things like "Final Fantasy fan game villain protagonist" just gets stuff like "Final Fantasy protagonists/villains ranked" articles, lists of newer fangames I'm already aware of and that aren't it, etc. Any help is appreciated!
There's a long list of FF-Fangames on Makerpendium. Maybe it's one of those:

Does anyone remember GamingGroundZero? (Remembering GamingGroundZero)
Well, I found something at least.. here's this odd transitionary site named "GamingOverworld", right after the merge of The Heresy with RPG Underground and shortly before it became GamingGroundZero:

That's really hard, as you're likely finding out. Forums drop support, servers go down and never come up again, etc. Even sites like archive.org are imperfect (as you can see with some of the deeplinked GGZ archives which work yet none of their child links were archived. I for one would love to see an archive of the Staff page so I can find out what the heck my bio was. I remember my avatar pretty vividly 'cause it was some terrible photoshop I did with). This is going to continue to be a problem until communities find a good way of preservation, which is also an ongoing and very serious problem in the gaming world in general. We are losing our games and source code at an alarming pace.
I realize this post is over 2 years old but here it is (at least shortly before it became GGZ):

I'm currently looking into the earliest days of the RM95 scene and gaminggroundzero.com is a site that does come up very often.
However, it's completely inaccessible on Wayback Machine. Is there a specific reason why that is the case? So was this a request by QHeretic or Wishmoo or someone completely different? (Maybe even a DMCA from some rights holders? You could hardly visit any gaming-related site back in the day without stumbleing upon links to roms & such..)
There's so much content lost here.. A huge chunk of the earliest communities were dispersed across many different free hosting sites that had strict limitations on the amount of content the site owners could share. Sites & urls changed often which probably didn't have a good effect on archiving efforts.
GamingGroundZero does stand out as it did have a top-level-domain and due to its status the Wayback crawler should have archived tons of content.
Today on visiting, there's just a basic blog which hasn't been updated in years and provided no contact info. I'm not even sure if it is still owned by the same person. Neither version of the site can be viewed on archive.org due to a domain-wide block.

Old/Lost RpgMaker Games - SegNin's Rare/Obscure RM Games Request Topic
Hej!
I'm currently doing some extensive research using the Wayback Machine and managed to dig up plenty of old pre-2k RPG Maker games.
I don't know if anyone has been looking for them but archived anything I could find on rmarchiv.de
Most notable findings:
I expect more to turn up once my crawler is finished with the french scene, so I can use my resources to focus on some old english-language sites...
Now to my request:
Especially Angels Four does make a very good impression. Custom graphics, music, videos, etc. + a nice story. This game had a full release but I could only find the demo version. If anyone does have a copy or some pointers to old sites this game was hosted on, please contact me.
@KotatsuAkira:
Coincidentally, I uploaded that same first demo of Final Fantasy 0 on rmarchiv yesterday, with my recent batch of old french games. I just compared them to see if they differ and it seems the one from "black★kingdom★free★fr" was modified slightly (.ldb & .lmt have timestamps from 2004 while the original files were last touched in 2001). If you are crazy about old versions of games like myself, you should check that one out: https://rmarchiv.de/games/2547

At first there is the demo from ~2001. Still very basic, uses default battle system, fancy graphics are way less. Mostly feeling like any other RPG Maker game from that time. It's confusing that there is MP3 BGM inside, but if you replace RPG_RT.exe with a 1.50 / 1.51 (which WASN'T a thing at the time!) you can listen to the music while playing without converting to WAV beforehand.
