It's not realistic. You can't expect someone to spend four years and thousands of dollars for something that's not going to end up paying the bills later. Everyone doesn't have a support system in case they screw up and they're adults in the real world with real bills and real needs. I would not advise someone to undertake an academic interest that will have next to zero payoff later on.

I generally agree but that doesn't stop tons of people from getting a degree in communications or history or w/e and then just rotting in a Starbucks for x years.

If you're gonna do lib arts make sure you know WHY you're doing it and are willing to like, not just stop at a bachelors/have something more definite lined up before you commit anyway/are totally cool with making coffee until retirement

Mitsuhide finally let his sword back into it's scabbard, the sharp metal sliding across was like a quick, invigorating song.

Formally studying "writing" won't help you career wise.

This is why you shouldn't major in it, Mitsuhide. No one can really teach you how to write, it's something you pick up with experience.

As for going beyond a bachelor's, that should be obvious - a bachelor's is basically an HS diploma these days, especially where lib arts are concerned. No, a phd or masters won't help you write better games or whatever, but it will give you a lot more weight to throw around when you want writing-related jobs, of any kind. But, what you want to do right now may not necessarily be what you want to do in a year, five years, ten years.

Alternatively, stick to animation and just practice practice practice. Don't forget to read as much as you write, too, otherwise you won't be able to get a feel for the language.

until you can show otherwise, i am going to assume that megaman adventures of roy wily's revenge is the best thing you can do.. burden of proof is on you bucko

and here, my one big piece of legitimate, unbiased, direct, non-troll advice: do not major in creative writing for any reason. if you must, major in english, but be prepared to go a lot further than a bachelor's to make it work for you.

my thoughts: i'm paying well over twice that without issues. i'd do anything to be able to get away with only having $600 worth of bills each month. maybe you live in louisiana's asshole, though, and rent is like seventy five cents, I dunno.

if you're asking if it's cool to move back in with your parents, go for it, lots of kids do that. but were i in your position i'd just work harder, because dependence is the worst.

if you're asking what to study, study something that isn't video games 101 please

oh and the writing thing: i'll believe you are a better writer than you are an artist when you can make something that isn't about roy wily ^^
