Due to the resurfacing of a multitude bugs I eliminated back in NOVEMBER, I will be taking down all 1873 pages. I will post new ones upon the completion of a bug-free version, if my luck allows. I will not cease work on this.
RMN Around the World
One of the coolest things about this site is the diversity of its members. We stretch everywhere from good old U.S. of A. to China and Aussie. We're literally everywhere. I figure it'd be cool to brag discuss stuff about where we live, what kind of weather we get, what we do to slay boredom, and so on.
As for me:
Location: USA, Washington State.
City: Tacoma
Boredom-Killer: RM 2k3
Weather: Good right now, but normally SHIT.
Feel free to add more catagories in your answers.

Ye Olde West
Calling all those with expert MIDI-making prowess, I need various themes for a western-style game, preferably with a good helping of guitar of any kind. I'll have work on it just a tad more to be able to post some screens or videos, but I'll have those soon.
Moving Enemies
Alright, I'm trying to figure this out. How do I make enemies move to attack, cast spells, etcetera?
EDIT: I can't make any sort of common event in battle to do it, already tried.

Pimp / New Eon help
I'm moving my game here from Game discussion and releases. THIS WILL COVER BOTH PIMP AND NEW EON (formerly Last Day).
I will also post the initial posts from my previous threads:
LAST DAY
PIMP
I will also post the initial posts from my previous threads:
LAST DAY
author=ChaosProductions link=topic=1856.msg29837#msg29837 date=1220748085I know I have Pimp to work the bugs out of, but Last Day, I believe, is a far more polished and completed project.
Also, I quite possibly may be the worst game creator present at this site, but that won't stop me from trying:
Last Day is by far a better game, so far, than Pimp, as Last Day actually has content. The cast of characters is fairly limited, up to three at a time, but there are actually five playable characters, with a host of AI allies. I tried to add a layer of strategic depth through a variety of unusual attacks, like resistance reduction and elemental one-hit KO attacks.
I don't want to throw a wall of text at you, so I'll use a series of spoiler tabs. What do you want info on?
PlotThe plot mostly revovles around the four powers of Body (phasing), Mind (projection), Spirit (telekinesis), and Soul (summoning). A man who calls himself Navajo, self-proclaimed "maker of heroes", distributes these powers to those he feels can use them to their fullest extent.
CharactersRehy Gomortz - Swordman/Swordmaster - Fire (due to his quickness to anger)
Rehy is your main damage-dealer. He casts your Almighty-element spells, uses Slashing attacks, and has MP-restoring abilities.
At only 12 years of age, he's a bit of a prodigy, using a Zweihander sword with skill and precision. He has the highest physical attack of the team, and he is almost immune to one-hit kills.
Lance de Graviz - Guard - Wind (due to his flightiness and lack of attention)
Lance is your tank. He has the highest HP of the team, and tends to survive a lot of powerful attacks.
He's your moron, but he's capable in battle none the less. His loyalty, first and foremost, is Lusai, above even his own life.
Varita de Hechizora - Acolyte/Magus - Ice (due to her cold and honest demeanor)
Varita cast your magic, having access to all four elemental spells, as well as Light-element, draining, and healing spells.
She tends to speak her mind, and is often overly candid with what she says. She also tends to hide stuff from others.
Setting
CombatThe combat in Last Day is nothing special, but I'm trying to do a few new things with it. First off, this game is moderately difficult. It starts difficult, it ends difficult. No easy involved. You can easily find the game over screen five minutes in, but it's also simple to avoid. Here's a hint to start you off - heal when you reach half HP.
I'm trying to incorporate summoning in this game, and I think I almost have it figured out. It will work by having each character have one summon, but only one can be summoned at a time, and anyone can dismiss anyone's summon. So Rehy could summon Aurum, Lance could dismiss Aurum, and then Varita could summon Hydragyrum, all in order.
I'm trying to keep numbers low, so HP will run from about 100~800 over the course of the game, with the maximum level being 75.
Side QuestsSo far, all I have are the Olde Beings that appear in the woods to the east of the Lusai pillars, but I intend to add quite a few optional dungeons. Also, I might add a fourth party member... I'll also put in quests that power up your summons by giving them new skills or raising their stats. And of course, there will have to be secret items.
I will update this as the game develops and as holes are pointed out. I hope this goes off better than Pimp...
Surprisingly enough, the link is in my sig.
PIMP
author=ChaosProductions link=topic=1814.msg28879#msg28879 date=1220227534Now, for the duration of the demo, you can be a Pimp, a ladies' man (or would ladies' person be more "politically correct"?). Bear in mind that the story in the demo is nothing like the story of the actual game, and is only used to provide structure. They characters will not be altogether unchanged, either.
However, I would like feedback as to the battle system or the Regents card game (playable at the bar or the restaurant.) Also, any questions about something I forgot to explain, or an obvious hole in accessibility, would be nice.
Behold, screenshots:
Lemme know if I need anything else, Feldschlacht.
EDIT
I also need a paragraph, huh?
Alright, here goes: This is a gameplay demo of Pimp. It gives you a nice selection of abilities to play around with, and a choice between one of two allies, and two boss fights. The full demo (v0.1) contains all of the music that will be used in the finished production, while the "shaved" demo (v0.05) has only the music used in the actual demo. So, if you want to be able to hear all of the tracks ahead of time, get the larger one, while if you want a quicker download, get the smaller one.
A couple of tips:
1). The Pimp is vital - If the Pimp is KO'd, you lose, regardless of any surviving allies. To counter this, the pimp has the best stats of any character in the game, but you still need to watch your health. Heal yourself before reviving allies - you're that important.
2). Equip the cane! - Immediately after the introductory battles, equip your goddamn cane! Since the Pimp can hold two one-handed weapons, holding a handgun in one hand and the cane in the other allows you to use all of your skills, instead of one set or the other.
3). Some skills are better - Within the confines of the demo, I haven't been able to make every skill useful at every point. For example, Assist is useless, seeing as no enemies in the demo use Blind Shot, Pin Down, or Suppression Fire. On the other end of the spectrum, Parting Shot has instant death attached, so I'm not going to give it to you in the very beginning of the game.
4). PUBLIC APOLOGY - I am sorry and ashamed... I couldn't get the Pimp Slap feature finished in time. In the game, if an NPC says something insipid, you have the option to do your thing. All it SHOULD take is a common event and a <>Call Event, but... Oh, well, I'll have it fixed for the final game.
The link is in my sig. THX in advance, and I await your replies, framlings!

Make a video of your game!
I've been cruising the games section a lot, and I've noticed that the most unused function, out of all the tools the user has, is the ability to post a gameplay video of your game. This is startling. Look at Alter AILA: Variant, or any other game with a video, and see how much it helps?
Thus, I propose this. In this thread, we shalt discuss various screen recorders, their pros and cons, and also what to make a video of.
For example, I have BSR Screen Recorder 4, which records video and audio, and it's free, but it sticks a huge logo of itself on top of any video you make...
