Adding Humor and Fun to Serious Stories!

I think this really depends on multiple factors...

Is your game a serious short story? If yes.. then no, I don't think silliness or jokes fit much in there, because it distracts too much from the matter at hand.

Stories with lots of chapters, introductions to characters, their relationships and multiple confrontations to problems give us silliness to make the setting and characters more likable and relatable.

Games and TV Shows like, The Last of Us, The Witcher, Dexter, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones etc... All have more jokes in them then you expect them to have.

A game or a story that tends to thrive for being taken seriously from beginning to end can end up stiff and sometimes even give the impression of not being serious at all. Why? Because we can relate to funny moments. We can bond with characters that are human. Of course they laugh, cry, get angry and fall in love. All these small bits need to be inside of a story.

The bigger question would be HOW to implement these bits in a fitting way and that is another topic. xD

It's about the characters, though, not situations.

Stories are a constant up and down because plateau's would be a meadow without the dips.

Liberty said it perfectly in my opinion. I wish I could write that well in english. >__<

Vigiles Lucis Review

Thank you, Kylaila for your feedback. :) We will keep your words in mind for the upcoming act and try for a more horroresque approach. :D It's good to hear the opinion from someone, who is so much into horror games.

I'm probably going to submit my entries a hour before deadline, seeing I left a lot of the mixing to the last moments...

Yaaay! I've done it! Got my submission ready! :D Here it is.
HappyVillage!

Oh and my
goes to... Dysergy's Forest_Strolls_1. Well deserved in my opinion! :)
When I listen to this track, I can imagine a small village with it's inhabitants and it does exactly what has been asked for. It puts a smile on my face. :) At first I thought a faster track might fit the theme more, but Dysergy composed Forest_Strolls so nicely, it simply works for me. I love the rhythm and the playful tunes that give you this relaxation... :D

Hey, nice game! Im stuck on a certain part though

When, being in the house and after activating a secret panel in the protagonist´s room, there´s a switch that deactivates on a certain time, but ¿what am I supposed to do while is active? I been searching around for secret doors or locked doors but I can´t go after that

By the time I played, I like the way the character´s decision seem to create differents part of the story, love this kind of interactive games! And the screamer part wasn´t so bad, maybe a little confusing with the puzzling but was ok either way, was hoping something worse xD, hopefully I can achieve a good ending!

This should help you.

You should search the rooms on the ground floor while the switch is active .

Organizing/Recycling - reuse switches?

author=LockeZ
Leave lots and lots of blank spots. Same goes for variables, skills, items, equipment, classes, states, animations, and every other thing in the database. If you think you'll need six spots for a category, leave sixty blank spots afterwards.

Aye, sir! Will keep that in mind.

Organizing/Recycling - reuse switches?

Thanks guys. I guess this case I closed then. :)

LockeZ that is actually how I am doing it right now, but sometimes I didn't have enough switches and mixed up my system. That was annoying. I will try to get it down in the future.

Organizing/Recycling - reuse switches?

Hi guys.
I was wondering if you should reuse switches for later maps in the game. For example: I used two switches to determine the whole setup of events on a few maps. At a certain point you will never reach these maps again. So I could turn them off and use them later again for a different map setup, without getting bugs , right? I could call them scene 1 and scene 2.

But... Is that even useful? Is it good for keeping things organized? Do you save some space , which is probably just one BIT?

Thanks in advance for possible feedback.
