I've got another minor event bug to report. This one is in Ostia Inn. When you try to get to the upper floor, the player character tries to move more than one step down (where he should be taking a step back) and since it's blocked by a wall, the event doesn't end and the game gets stuck there.

Roger that. Will include it with the patch. I'm pretty close to being done with it, so I'll have the patch ready by the end of the day. I guess for now... Just don't touch those stairs.

Why is the game 1.6 GB? Did you include unused files?
Accidentally. However even without unused files it’s still quite a big game. I’d say about 1.4ish. Been awhile. Nevertheless it will be fixed once I patch it.

I found this game very confusing because entering a town without name is just that.
Also why so many dwellings if you can't enter most houses?
The first dungeon I nearly missed (the forest with the 2 baddies) because I couldn't find the entrance. The fight with them was way to easy, 2 rounds and both were gone. Than I visisted the next town and....woe me...after entering a house (that with an old lady) I was stuck in the wall. After that....sorry but I quit the game.....Your choise to use save points vs free save is not something I like.

Ok... First off, What do you mean by entering a town without a name is just that? That just seems like a nitpick. Secondly, When you say "dwellings" I'm going to assume you're talking about those houses without doors? Again, seems like a nitpick. And first dungeon is easy to miss. Well, that's why if you're not sure, you use the quest markers. You can find them and turn them on or off anytime in the System menu. Not to mention... There was a sign in front of it that literally says, "Caution, Forest Cave Ahead." And The fight with Giant and Flea-Man was too easy? I mean... They're the first bosses. They aren't really supposed to be hard. And for the house that gets you stuck in the wall, fair enough, honest mistake and will be fixed in an incoming patch, but that house is not essential to the plot and can be ignored. And Save points VS. Free Save, well that's your preference... But did you know that there is a save point at the Poor Town Inn? And did you also know that you can go to Bergson (The town surrounded by tall grass) anytime and use the save point there? And it's pretty close to most of the major locations in Lightviolet. No offense dude... But this just seems like nitpicking to me... Very petty nitpicking.

Hey there. As soon as I saw the new version was out, I decided to play this game one more time from the beginning. However I regret to say that I came across a bug already. It's in Poor Town at the house north of Nathan's. The transfer event was placed on wrong coordinates.
Yeah I remember you! Good to see you again. And damn, that sucks. Already? Not a good first start... Anyway, Thanks for letting me know. I will apply it for the upcoming patch coming soon. Thankfully that house isn't essential to the plot, so just ignore it for now.
Yes, I was worried when I couldn't see the game anymore on the site, I'm glad you decided to come back. As long as it won't hinder my progress, I can ignore it. Btw I haven't forgotten about Ryoma's Tale side-story and still waiting for it. Hope it gets released too.

Yeah, as I said in my blog post, letting harsh criticism get to me is my major character flaw. But I am glad to be back at it. And don't worry, I will work on Ryoma's tale in the future! Hopefully I'll get to it soon, though thanks to COVID-19, things are tough on the job front right now, at least in the US. I do have a few ideas on how I'll do Ryoma's story, but all in due time. For now, I got a boss guide to finish up and will do a few more tweaks before I step away from the project for a short time.

The Star Rod Chronicles Review

Well, thanks for at least trying the game out and being openly honest about the experience, and I'm sorry that it wasn't a good one. I think had I worked on it consistently instead of procrastinated it for like 4 - 5 years and then finally cracked on it October of last year then maybe it'd be a better experience for everyone. I can at least say that puzzles, maps and dungeons get better later in the game. This entire game was also a one man show, so that didn't do me any favors either. I'm not trying to excuse me myself, I'm just stating what the deal is.
I try to fix whatever bugs I can find based on feedback, so which dungeon was it you could skip a chunk of so I can at least patch it out? I can at least confirm that the balance patch does have some quality of life changes to the Governor's mansion mission such as adding a hint and a quicker second cutscene when getting caught more than once. And even the softlocking issue you mentioned has been fixed. Along with more quality of life changes coming along too.
Now I'm not going to excuse myself from using sample maps, RTP stuff and other resources found through DLC and Online, my mapping skills are subpar and spriting/drawing I'm not great at. All of which I could've obviously either hired people for those or practiced on them myself. That point I made very clear.
However saying, "This can't be easily salvaged" isn't fair. Because in this timeline we live in where patches exist, Somethings can still be salvaged.

Found a critical bug - don't know how it got triggered, but I'm now trapped in Grado because I get stuck unable to move whenever I leave back to the world map.

Here's my save file for debugging purposes.

Interesting... I've had several reports of this happening in Habala. Weird it's happening in Grado this time. Sorta makes me wonder how the other players were able to get past this with no issues?
Anyway, I just played the file and was able to leave and walk around Grado just fine.

Here's a save I made to try out... Though I didn't really do much.
Save here

If that doesn't work, I'll look into it more later tonight as I have work in the next 10 minutes as of the writing of this. The only thing I can suggest right now is downloading the latest patch if you haven't already.

Darn, this is easily the most frustrating, amateurish RPG Maker JRPG of this magnitude I've ever had the displeasure of playing - and this is coming from a veteran player of JRPGs in general and RPG Maker JRPGs in particular. The game contains so many elements that annoy me, the most prominent being the "EXP decay", the "stuttering" dialogue, the "sample maps", the copy & paste house interiors and, most importantly, the lack of opportunities to save the game (even before confronting bosses). Finally, I rage-quit during the Governor's mansion (trial & error) part. How the hell is the player supposed to check all books and book pages in the back of the small library without getting caught? And then for every failed attempt it takes five minutes to reach this point again. Well, it's probably for the best that the game made me quit before investing/wasting even more hours.

By the way, the game is still riddled with bugs, but I found only one game-breaking issue during my playthrough. Lightviolet: Talking to the old man outside the item shop from above after triggering the side quest inside the item shop freezes the game (because the old man can't leave going upwards).

Sorry you didn't like the game, this was my very first game and I was flying solo on it the whole time. And keep in mind that I did stat in the summary that, "The game does have some maps made by me, but a majority are premades with significant tweeks and/or overhauls. So it won't entirely be a "Typical" RPG maker game." I know it's a lame excuse but it's all I got for you. I try my best to improve on the game based on feedback and criticism. and with plans to revamp the houses to make them more unique. But based on what I'm reading, I can already tell that this game isn't going to be for you.

And rather than just telling me that "the game is riddled with bugs," Why not give me a list of some kind so I can at least fix them as best I can. But thanks for the game breaking bug report. it'll be applied in the patch.

hello.
i at Gouki's castle .
i had a fight with Gouki and he run off.
i now having my 2 rd fight with Gouki but it's going on for ever.
what can i do.

Have your best party members equip God like weapons. Any of the best items that you have saved up (Like War Drums for example) use them here! Have Are use shooting Stars every chance he gets. Otherwise, having him as a back up healer and use Recovery II (Provided you got an extra one) is not a bad idea (Especially if you equip the "Healer" stance). Gouki can actually be debuffed... Though it's not always guaranteed. If you've found The Powerful Curse spellbook or had Solomon grant you the wish of Vast Knowledge on one of your spell casters, It will help out in this fight very well! Meanwhile have someone in your party focus on providing stat buffs to your party. Using Mana Barrier and/or Coconut Macaroons will help avoid getting Confused when Psychic blast is used. Use your character's best attacks whenever they hit 100 TP and when it's appropriately timed.
Something to note by the way, as you complete the god dungeons, Gouki will receive buffs to his stats before the fight starts in addition to several new spells he can use. However upon testing this, I might've went overboard on the health increase. I will patch it here within the next 15 - 30 Minutes as of the writing of this.
