I'm going to get to your PMs asap, McDohl, but my computer loves freezing within text fields so I've been putting it off (I have already attempted a reply twice).

Quickie help: there are some specific in-game settings needed for _ContinueBGM, iirc. Are you sure you aren't setting a battle music, etc.?

I'm setting a battle music, but I've turned off the Victory ME. The script seems to read though that battle musics shouldn't interfere with it. Is that not the case?

If Choke is doing DoT it sure isn't SAYING so in the battle system. And I thought VX was set to announce DOT by default?

It doesn't say how much, if you opt to have a continuous message in the database, instead just giving a message if the DoT is still on. The spell description clearly says it deals damage over time though. ;)

Though I'm surprised you have issues with the spell "Choke". You're not the first person to complain about it though, so I guess I'm going to explain in detail why it's there and why it works the way it does.

The way slip damage is calculated in VX makes it ridiculously, insanely potent. It seems to do a direct percentage, regardless of HP and level. Choke also cannot get resisted: It lands 100% of the time, regardless of elemental affinity. This in of itself makes it a stupidly powerful spell.

Anyone who's played an earlier version of the game (all 3 of them) can tell you that Choke did not used to wear off. Thus you could win any battle in the game (including boss fights) simply by casting Choke, using defend, and potioning yourself until the enemy has 1HP. This is why after 2 turns, there's a 20% chance of it wearing.

Oh yes; when I first entered the fire towers the screen turned sepia and I had to click through about five COMPLETELY EMPTY MESSAGE BOXES. I am assuming this wasn't intended.

This is first I've heard of this. I shall look in to it.
