SCARVY'S PROFILE

Not much to say. I'm writing a story. That story will then become a visual novel made via RPG Maker 2003 or XP. Haven't decided yet.

2011 RMN Summer Games

Q: How many surrealists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Fish.

In all seriousness, I was interested in participating, but I may sit out. Unless my partner-in-crime comes up with something, I'm stuck. Surrealism isn't something I'm all that familiar with and comfortable working around.
Interesting concept though, I'll say that much. Should spawn some good stuff.

What games are you looking forward to?

DMC, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 5, The Last Guardian, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and Catherine.
But first, I need a PS3. >.>

Uh? Do you guys listen to music?

I have quite the wide range of musical tastes, but they typically fall under Rock/Metal and Ska. Some favorite Rock/Metal bands of mine are System of a Down, Protest the Hero, Between the Buried and Me, All That Remains, Metallica, Tool, Billy Talent, and Nightwish.
My exposure to Ska isn't that big, as I've only really listened to Streetlight Manifesto, Mustard Plug, and Reel Big Fish.
Plus there's so many other bands that I love for different reasons. Their sound, lyrics, the emotion of the music, or whatever.
How about this, I'll just link a few different songs. Too lazy to rant on in depth of what I enjoy at the moment, save that for another time when I'm not sleep deprived.

Protest the Hero - Blindfolds Aside
Between the Buried and Me - Alaska
Streetlight Manifesto - Would You Be Impressed?
Reel Big Fish - Don't Start a Band
Modest Mouse - Guilty Cocker Spaniels

Before and after my wondrous haircut, then after it grew back some. Also, I'm dual wielding hats, 'cause I'm just that awesome.

Game Plan for 2011

Work on a written work that has been in concept for about a year now, and port it to RPG Maker. I'll probably use XP, but I might use rm2k3, not quite sure. I'll be doing this with a friend who'll be doing all the maps and graphics (Alogn with most of the event system stuff) while I work on story, characters, and dialogue. As far as music goes...I don't know. Might try to find someone here Who doesn't mind doing music, though I'm new to the forums. Oh well, by the time that I can actually work on this said project, I'll be more familiar with the users.

Other than that, I might do a couple of smaller projects, or at least plan them. No idea, to be honest.

Good evening, folks.

woah it's like you read my mind before I read your post

Yeah, I'm amazing like that. (y)

Well, seeing as I don't generally hate people, but I'm not the most loving person around, let's go with "content" until further notice.
I'm alright with being typical. Sounds good to me.

As for a nickname, what about Rickey Scarvyias? :D
Pretty stupid, I know.

Actually, that sounds quite awesome, but I'll go with Johnny Scarvyias. BD (My name being Jonathan.)

Hello and welcome!

Go ahead and make yourself at home. How are your project(s) coming along? If there's anything worth sharing, you should post it up on a profile.

Well, my story I mentioned has barely anything yet. I have three pages actually typed up. OTL However, I have basically the entire thing planned out, so I should be able to get it done if I stop being lazy.

My preteen days were spent playing Final Fantasy Legends 3

I have not played that game at all. >.> My Final Fantasy exposure was playing most of IX, and beating VII. Played a bit of Tactics, some of Crystal Chronicles, and some of XIII. Not much other than that.

So, yeah, thanks for the welcome folks.

Good evening, folks.

Say hello to the new guy, people (i.e. Me). Name's Scarvy, or Scarvus, or Scarfy, Scarf, Scurvy, Scarfuu, Scarfles, or one of the other million nicknames this name has picked up. Or just Scarvy. That works.

A bit about myself:: I've been a fan of RPGs since, well, as generic as this sounds, Pokémon. Pokémon Blue, to be exact. Hey, come on, I was six years old! Loved that game, and as the years progressed, I started getting into RPGs more and more. I think the biggest impact on my RPG playing within my preteen years was with Golden Sun. Still love that game to this day. In the past year, the most influential games on me were Persona 3 and Persona 4. If 90 hour RPGs are your thing, check 'em out.

Other than video games, you could say I'm a music addict. My main listening interests are typically Metal and Ska, with an occasional band popping up that I enjoy that's completely different from those genres (Such as Modest Mouse, or Eels). I play guitar, but I'm not amazing in the slightest. I used to draw, but I haven't really done anything in the past year. I've more so taken up writing, and I'm currently working on a piece of work that I wish to transfer to a visual novel RPG, or something of the sorts. I don't know, but it'll be a while before that happens.

Anyways, I've lurked around this place for quite a while. Downloading games here and there, enjoying some, others not so much. I thought I might as well make an account and join the community, as I hope to get around to actually making some games sooner or later. I'm most comfortable with using RPG Maker 2003, but I sometimes use XP. I'm not big on scripting though, so, meh.

Oh yeah, I'm sixteen, in highschool, and I get decent grades, not that really matters when it comes to video games, but whatever.
Anyways, yeah. That's me. Woohoo.

RMN in the New Year

Alright, I get the idea.
I enjoy comedy reviews to an extent, but I can see how they could easily get out of hand. I personally don't think I would enjoy someone trashing my games (Haha, what games?) just for a couple of laughs.

RMN in the New Year

Anyways, back on topic, anyone feel like giving me a quick rundown on the situation at hand? From what I've managed to take in from the previous posts, it sounds like, for the most part, people are being discouraging and are not being nice when it come to reviewing/talking about games. Am I on the right track?

RMN in the New Year

Well then, I don't feel quite so bad anymore.

Well, on the topic of Mortal Kombat, I owned a copy of the original back when I was four I could make it to Goro just by button mashing and crouch punching/kicking. Now I own Deception and Armageddon, and it's a lot hard to win via those strategies.

EDIT:: Alright then, probably a good idea.
