Discuss: Elements

I prefer a low amount of elements.
(I like:) Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, Non-Elemental.

I don't do much with physical elements.

Mission-Based RPG

I'd love to help, but I don't have the time to add in anything at this time. When I get the chance, I will definately add in a few more ideas! {If I have any}

Help again...

Okay, thanks. That's all the questions I have for now! Thank everyone who helped me for your time.

Mission-Based RPG

I'd love to help, I'm just not sure how I can... considering ideas have been thrown around for quite some time now, and I'm at a loss to what kind of input I can make. :-\]

EDIT: Since... no one seemed to respond, while I was at work, I did have two ideas that might work out for areas outside of the main HUB.

"Hot Spot" Monster Encounter System
To those who have played Parsite Eve II, that's pretty much what I'm talking about here. Some sections of the dungeon, forest, etc. ('the individual maps') might have a "Hot Spot" where monsters are. When every monster has been taken care of, then they're gone for good. After some exploration, new hot spots can occur, like when back-tracking is suddenly required. Since I'm guessing there will be no 'map' for this game, then there is no way to figure out where the Hot Spots are until you've actually reached the room where the monsters are.

"Base Camp"
Basically, having a few locations within individual missions where you set up camp to save the game and heal. However, there are different levels for the base camp, where each level will heal only a certain amount of HP and SP. What could be known as the "Camp Supply" like "Basic Camp Supply". Which tells of how good the camp is. To make sure this cannot be overused, a strategic element can be added to where you have 'rations' (total number of times you can restore HP/SP) before it runs out. That doesn't mean you can't find more rations as you explore the area, but you must make sure that you don't overuse the Camp, otherwise you might find yourself unable to get a no-cost healing until you find more rations within the mission area. The supply of rations is restored upon completion of the mission, and can be modified for a 'mission to mission' basis, or modified to accomodate different "Camp Supplies" where better Camp supplies restore more HP/SP, and have more starting rations.

These are just some ideas I had while I was at work... thought I'd share. I thought the base camp idea would be an interesting thing to add, but... heck, only ideas.

Help again...

Well, thanks for the help. Now I just need to ask the maker of the scripts that I'm using for some script problems. Just one last question because this has been bugging me for quite a while now... How the hell do I make screen shots? T_T

Help again...

I have to find the sprites and what not, correct? Animations won't be too hard, getting the HUD might be a bit of a problem though... unless it's apart of it. Ah, heck. I'll just look anyway. Once again, thanks. If there's any other help others can give me, I'd be very greatful.

Help again...

Help again...

I'd like some help to get rid of the front view on RPG Maker XP. Mostly because I can't find any battlers for the sprites I'll be using.

Also, I need some help with a decent switch system. Since I have no idea how do to actually do one.

Thanks in advance.

Sonic: the RPG

I liked just about all of the sonic songs to date, although the ones from Sonic Riders were a bit iffy... but I'd love to see some Sonic remakes. They've remained just about every game at least once.

Planning your RPG

Me, I've realized I need to get all of my ideas out on paper before I start... otherwise I end up just scrapping the project because I'm getting bored, all because of the fact I have no idea what I'm going to do with it. So, I start out by thinking of my characters, what skills they might have, and for what reason they have them. How the characters might intract, especially if I'm going for the comedy effect. All the while, I think of general points throughout the storyline. That way changes can be made as I go through the game. I try to get all of the stuff that's going to go on in the battle system first, like the skill set, items, status effects, etc. and so forth before I actually start on mapping and actually developing the storyline, no matter how many ideas I actually have for it. I keep all these either in a notebook, or on a notepad file on the computer where I'll have easy access for it. Some things, I do on the fly, usually with mapping. However... resources are so hard to find T_T.
