I was genuinely shocked to discover that charas-project.net actually still exists.

How come? RM2k/3 still has a gigantic following, and interest only doubled-down when they released it legally.

I'm more amazed that Zophar's Domain is still alive and well. May it never disappear from the web.

Geeze, how long has Zophar's Domain has been around? Since '96? I mean, Home of the Underdogs (where I initially found Three the Hard Way and Final Fantasy Endless Nova) is still around too, but yeah.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

The site makes no money though, and probably costs someone about eighty bucks a year to keep running. So yeah, I'm surprised as well.
Exactly LockeZ.

And the site's appearance is like angelfire bad and the vast majority of resources on there are either a) bad or b) stolen. And there are so many other more legit sources for resources (2k3 or otherwise). I thought between all these factors it would definitely be gone-zo, that I was amazed Charas was hanging in there.

That said, I'm glad it was because it was the only place I could find a parallax of a city at night that was actually a parallax i.e. horizontally scrollable. (Actually on reflection I'm not sure of the exact technical definition of parallax.)

But I do know at some point I bought the SF Battlebacks pack from Degica and I tried editing several of those to do the job, along with a bunch of other stuff from various sources, but all of them had "seams" on the sides that ruined the horizontal scrolling effect. The pano I found on Charas didn't, and didn't lose too much quality in resizing for Ace.

The things we do for a title screen.
