Well, you can always play the game from your folder instead of playtesting it in RPG Maker. It's the same thing, it just takes a little longer to get to the folder, and it allows you to edit stuff with RPG Maker as you play.
You could do that in VX by directly playing from the Game.exe file in your folder (instead of running a playtest), and editing all mistakes you find as you come across them, in the Editor.
That's actually pretty smart thinking, I for one, never thought about doing that :I

You don't really need this. You can just play your game (like you'd play any other RM game), but have still RPG Maker open, so when you come across an error, you can easily fix it.
No need to download anything extra. :p
1. Save
2. Exit game
3. Find the error and fix it
4. Load game
But suppose your game doesn't allow saving at some points, Or your in the middle of an extremely long cutscene that has some minor spelling errors.

Worst: Majora's Mask, by far
Best: Both Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess
I played Majora's Mask for like 10 minutes and never played it again.
Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess have the best stories of them all, and I liked TP's story and plot more.

...so it isn't really useful.
Actually, this tool would be quite useful. Just because you don't see the changes right away doesn't mean otherwise. It would be helpful because as you are testing, you could look for spelling mistakes, easy-to-fix glitches, and even dialogue that runs out of the window. Using this would mean that you can quickly fix these eroors, and get on with testing, rather than saving, quitting, changing it, reopening, and loading your game again.
