Consider revising your menu commands. "Special" means nothing at all; "Aggressive Magic" and "Control Magic" are a great opportunity for you to add a little personal flair and style to the game. You could name them "Black Artes" and "Hypnotism" for example, and people would still understand the difference, but with 300% less generic naming. Also, do they actually need to be separate commands? Why not put them all under one Magic command and sort them out by type?

That is a really bad UI, jumbled around and full of useless information. I for one have always hated seeing someone's name on top of THEIR FACE, which shows you who they are! The HP and MP bars are poorly placed and you really don't need to write ACTIVE TIME out because, again, it instantly demonstrates itself for you by filling up that bar as your turn approaches. If you designed this yourself I'd take a second cleanup spin on it. If you didn't I'd find a new one

What if you did them as events like Craze said and give them a slow and whimsical looping travel path. That way you can have them floating around certain areas instead of a camera filter dealio. More immersive! Buzzwords are good, so. Have you played FFX? Think pyreflies! They aren't just indiscriminately floating everywhere. They rise from the riverbanks, they cluster around undead and sources of magic, etc.

Literal balls of light falling from the sky? Glittering sands with the glitter filter way too opaque? Snowing fire?
