+++ DynRPG - The RM2k3 Plugin SDK +++
Any word yet on enabling use of DynRPG with the Steam version of Rm2k3? After using the new GDI renderer with the improved fullscreen that the Steam release has, I can't go back to 1.08. It would be great to have that feature and DynRPG at the same time. It should be fully legal now thanks to the Steam version's patch EULA. If we had Cherry's source code for DynRPG it would probably be simple, maybe.
The official English 2k3 version is out!
Haven't been active here in many years. Just dropping by to say thanks and bravo to Archeia and Cherry for their work on this. Never thought I'd see the day we'd get an official translation. This was pretty much an instant purchase for me. I still remember seeing Cherry's first posts on Gaming World waaay back in the day when he was reverse engineering Rm2k3 and extending the limitations of it. Great to see you've still been at all this time.
It sure is great to finally have an Rm2k3 version that works well on modern systems. It always used to be a real pain getting fullscreen to scale right. It always looked awful and felt slower than windowed mode. I always had screen flickering issues with it too. Now it's perfect!
Maybe this will revive the Rm2k3 scene a bit. This has probably already been asked but, are there any plans for Steam Workshop integration with Rm2k3?

Looking for a tutorial on lighting effects in Rm2k3
Can someone help me out? I need to make realistic lighting effects like in this screenshot of Desert Nightmare. http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/2033/27148808.png Notice how the character sprites is illuminated by the light. I can't figure out how this is done. I know you need to make lightmaps but I'm not sure how to do that.

Detecting AutoBattle in 2k3, an coding conditional branches thus
There's no way to detect autobattle either. Just use one of the other battle system layout options under the 'Battle Layout' tab in the database. I know there's one that doesn't have autobattle at all.
Lighting Tips?
Lighting effects are pretty easy to do in Rm2k3 once you get the hang of them. Here's generally how it works:
First you need pictures. Just a simple triangular gradient will work. You can fool around in Photoshop of Paint Shop Pro and come up with something, I'm sure. Just make sure it's not too big. You're going to put a transparent light picture down on your light source. Depending on the transparency and color levels, you'll get a neat effect when your character walks under the light.
You're going to need to figure out the X and Y coordinates of the light source on your map so you know where to put the picture. To do this, make an event in the place you want your light source to be and label it "light" or something. Leave the event blank. Now make another event and set it to parallel process. Here's the code you need to put in:

Bam. Easy lighting effects. MAKE SURE when you show the picture you check the 'Image Scrolls with Map' or it won't work properly.

Wow, lookin' damn sexy! The more RMXP games I see, the more hours of the day I spend crying wishing my PC could run it.
