Been thinking about how difficult societal/cultural expectations have made/will make my life, but dear God, things would be SO MUCH WORSE if I were a woman

It's all just different. *shrugs*
Good luck on your path, friend. May you make it your own <3
Stand proud, yes? I think eventually it'll click when it's just right the way you have chosen for yourself.

That's why you gotta respect women for how strong they are and we can never really know how it is.

Men have their problems too, but yeah, we got a lot to deal with as well. Either way sucks, so we should focus on being kind to, and make an effort to understand each other to make up for it. ^.^

author=KylailaWell yeah, but there are some fairly objective criteria that make me think my life would be much harder as a woman:

-> Ex-Muslim: Risk of violence if anyone in family finds out
-> Living alone: I would probably not have been able to move out for Uni and live the way I have for the past 7 years
-> Not planning on having kids: Enough said...
-> Sex before marriage: Would be screwed (hah) if anyone in my family found out
-> No rush to get married: At my age and current job status (stable/full-time), I'd be a shoe-in for arranged marriage. By the way, people like making the distinction between forced marriages and arranged marriages, and yes there is one in that with arranged marriage you can say yes OR no re: The prospective spouse. However the reality is with pressure from two entirely families to get married, it's often VERY difficult for the woman to say no without some sort of consequence.
And thanks Kylaila, appreciated, but I think I'm more worried for women in my position.
