Dot World Maker => Full RPG engine and editor from your browser

Having too many tabs which eat up CPU will affect the speed overall, yes. For the demo, due to the small sized zones it will indeed tend to load a lot which is kinda annoying I fully agree.

For the return key, easy enough could be added ask "action" key as well. I will add that in the wishes.

Attacking is simply: click on a monster and it should do that action till the end. Games should have some "tutorial" in to explain it.

"NPC talk": click on the NPC when you are nearby and the dialog will kick in.

Map loading should actually pretty quick, it takes me about 2-3 sec, the issue is mainly generation of maps area on your browser more than anything else, I could try to optimize it if you think it's a show stopper.

BTW which game did you try? The simple demo or another?

Thanks BlackWolf1992. It's clear that this tool doesn't have all the quality and features you would want yet. But as the tool will grow (both in community and features) it should improve.

The next big step will be a plugin system letting you create yourself features and then share them with other owners. Some examples will be provided like a multi-user blackboard letting you put short messages and make them visible to all.

This should open up the door to more complex multi-player integration like player market, card or board games playable by multiple players and so on.

I'm not aware of other RPG makers offering you such kind of features (the multi-player part, not the plugins) so in this it should be pretty unique.

I see why you suggest that, but I don't think it's the most important feature to add yet. Certainly being able to work together on the same project is important but knowing where the mouse pointer of the other is, is somewhat less important while still a "cool" factor.

Anyhow I will add it in the wishes. Thanks for sharing ;)

Indeed you can actually have a huge number of animation frames however currently only 4 directions.

Another of the quite many thing I didn't mentioned that you have an integrated pixel editor.

- Added a button to reset the player in the "stat & skill" menu (second icon on the left).
- Fixed the issue with collisions, you should not get stuck anymore.

If there is any other issue please report them, and again many thanks for the support.

Seem indeed there is an annoying issue here. Are you using the mouse or the keyboard?

Dot World Maker => Full RPG engine and editor from your browser

Thanks for trying, I will try to contact the game designer of that game. I will also put in the wishes "reset player".

BTW Did you try to move with the mouse or with the keyboard?

what does this offer that recent rpg makers don't?

That's what I could quickly sum up
- You can chat and exchange in game "email" with other players, see each others, and more user interaction is coming like player market and other features.
- Map are nearly infinite in size, with a base procedural generated and game owner edited over it.
- Particle system integrated.
- Real time battles with one ore more enemy (depending on how many followed you).
- Window size is free as it takes as much space as you give (not just resize the art, but show more)
- Play from anywhere (as you can play from your browser on your PC, laptop, mobile) and the game will continue where you was
- You can create standalone APP (yes the latest RPG maker allows that)
- You can have overlapping objects (actually there is no limit on the number of object on a cell)
- Objects can be placed anywhere, not just on the grid

For me the main difference is that you don't need any tool, you can start editing on any computer, and continue later on another one. You could collaborate on the same game as well, and as soon as you save others can directly check out your progress and comment. The workflow is therefore a lot faster.

Can it make single-player, turn-based games?

While you can make single-player games, the combats currently are only real-time.

I would strongly suggest to test it, as you get mostly all feature for free, the main things missing in the free version are the particle system and the multi-player. You don't like it? fine you didn't lose anything either.
