I am an OLD hobby programmer in assembler language, have used forth,C,C++ and some old ones you may never have heard of. I am 66 years old and started with computers when I first got a C64. I had some experience using main frames before the home computers. Also an avid RPG gamer. The first home computers were kits that you built and learned to program pretty much by the seat of your pants. No monitor and you had to program in binary that you worked out on paper using a very simple assembler(if you were lucky enough to have written your own. Those were heady days, before the internet and very exciting for a tech freak like me. From my first encounter with computers I was hooked, and have been ever since.

Why your name?
My "Handle" online name is the name of a Sumerian moon Goddess,I am pagan in my belief system.so i use it to show my belief. My aviator is a very old internet icon. Bobb Dobbs comes from the OLD internet(I am 66) before it went public. There is a whole history about the internet when it was kinda like the wild west, and everything was different. I like the new internet, but sometimes miss the old days. Any way I was thinking about starting a thread about the history of RPG games and where they originated. Early programs were less impressive with graphics(ASCII for chars) BUT the play was very intense. The depth of story and interaction was most important. If you get a chance play an old rogue game,or one of the many clones to understand how deep they can be.
Class System
I have been working on a stratagem for the first cave in the first town. First thing is as soon as you can get the steal skill for felix, this allows you to gain more items in battles in the cave. What I did was after getting the steal skill,is work right at the beginning of the cave. One thing is to have enough anti-tox handy. Best target for stealing seems to be the scorp, spiders are hard to steal from, and slims also, and they are harder to kill. also equip felix with dual swords. also when you have enough money get the shield earrings for everyone.
Class System
I was wondering because I have just started the second game if there are "callable entities" in this second game. In LW 1 I found these were very useful in certain fights. I really like the class set up,it allows a lot of room for testing different combos and as far as surprises, that really worked for me in LW 1,I was caught off guard a few times. Makes for a much more exciting game. I am going to go play and get to know the flow of the game for a while.

Chapter One: Emergent Enemies walkthrough
Glad someone is doing a walkthrough. Question, what method do you use to create the video in game? Do you use a video grabber on your system? Video is so much better because text can be confusing. Thanks your your effort,it is much appreciated.

Legionwood 2: Rise of the Eternal's Realm
Hi everyone,I just began the second legionwood game, having completed the first one.
I am only at the beginning, started going into the cave. I must say I really like the morality thing that concerns reputation. There was a VERY old game that had this type of feature,we are talking early 1980's and on a C64. For the life of me I can not remember the games name. That one my son and I played together.
I am feeling out the game and trying to get a hook on the game flow, and will be working on strategies. I am also thinking of playing legionwood 1 again, and this time will try to lay out a strategy guide if I can. most of my play is kinda seat of the pants, that is after playing so many different games I kind of just do it,but seldom can "put it down in writing" kinda how my mind works with most things. At any rate one of my methods is hang at a save point, and fight, trying many different approaches, trying magic combos, and sometimes swapping weapons, and with the save point near you can play out style and approach with no fear of dieing and forgetting what you just did. This helped when I fought bosses, giving me better understanding about pros and cons of each magic to keep from getting creamed by a foe. One thing I noticed is that you can not assume anything with a monster, what worked once may not work a second time,so you have to be able to be flexible in your fighting style. This is one aspect of the game I really liked,it kept the game exciting and always kept me on my toes.

Just an introduction
The basics are: I am an older rpg gamer, aged 66,and am glad to see all the wonderful games everyone has worked on and am impressed by the quality and depth of these games.
At the moment I am starting the second Legionwood game,I have just completed the first. I truly enjoyed playing the first one,and I also downloaded Blackmoon Prophecy, and will most likely play both games back and forth. Ok,a little about myself.
As I mentioned I am older, and began with computers back in 1980-81,when I got a C64 computer for myself, and for my two children. I have always been interested in computers having had some dealings with them while I was in the Navy, enlisted in 1965 and served until 1969. I have had something of an interesting life. After getting out of the service,I hit the streets and into the roaring 70's partying with drinking and of course at that time drugs. I was what some call "Hell bent for leather" and through my 20's there were lots of adventures. I know most of you have read things about that time period, and might wonder if all those stories were true. The drugs, yes those were around, wild parties yes there were some pretty wild parties. It was a much more open and free period, and you met many very interesting people. I went to what was at that time called a freak house party, kind of like a commune, and many times major bands would just drop in and start playing. As I said it was a different time. You may think to yourself, what a wonderful time, but we can't forget the other side of the coin. Yes there was the summer of love, and all the peace love and good vibes. BUT,there was also the dark side of this period, the talk of revolution and the radical groups like the SDS(students for a democratic society) the Weathermen, the black panther party, and there was a greeting you heard a lot "Come the revolution" Me,I was there for the party, and had little interest in the political radicals. I did march in a few peace rally's,because being in the service I had seen the effects of war up close. I hate wars and I wish we could all really just stop all this killing and violence. I for a while got deep into the drug scene, and at one time did not think I would survive into my 30's I am still here,so at about 28-29 I just stopped my partying and I guess just grew up. My meeting my wife(ex wife now) probably saved my life. It was she that got me to clean up my life, and I thank her for being there for me. Got married, had two great children, and life was good for about 18 years. Then my wife and I grew apart, and I was out and about on my own again. After being married for that long a time,I was a bit lost at first, but did not go back to my younger bad habits. I do not drink anymore, and wont do drugs at all. Truly,I never thought I would survive this long, but yet here I am,and glad to be able to enjoy our great technology and all the things that have been invented. So to all you people, greetings and I hope your lives are happy and you enjoy every minute of every day....cause it goes by very quickly. AS we used to say "If it feels good,DO IT"...with moderation of course.

Legionwood 2: Rise of the Eternal's Realm Review
I am just now downloading DG's second Legionwood game, having just finished his first one in what I hope is a continuing series. I am an OLD rpg gamer, being of the ripe old age of 66. I have been playing rpg's from the first home computer I got(c64). I learned assembler language for the first time on the C64,than graduated to an IBM 286 and got into assembler on that. For those who were not yet born when computers first became available for home users, that was the beginning of a whole new brave new world for those of us back then to grasp the important direction this new "Toy" would lead the world into. I have been both a hardware hacker and a software hacker(BTW these terms used to have a much more positive meaning) It meant you could "Hack" something into shape, work things out on the fly,and generally create something from scratch. I am very glad to see so many creative minds at work bringing their worlds to life in the many different styles of gaming. From an old mind I wish everyone much success in the future that I believe will bring a gasp of,but that has to be magic because from my perspective science will become as magic within perhaps 10-20 years. Over the years I have seen things change and was astounded when things I thought would never be, arrived and after a while were common place. For you younger people I envy your place in time because you will see things I can only imagine, and that I hope will still astound you when they arrive. I follow medical and technology trends and breakthroughs and it might even be that I do not have to journey into that gentle night. it is my considered opinion that a great many of you will never again see that night. You may be the first generation to expand into other worlds and be free of the constraints of age and death. I do hope I may be lucky enough to cross that boundary, but if not I will go happy in the thought that mankind will become better and kinder and create a much better world. Live long and prosper my lucky friends.
Final Fantasy Blackmoon Prophecy Review
As an OLD rpg gamer(age 66) and an avid fan of FF games(played up to FF 12,and have the full set from FF1 to FF12(missed FF7 because it seems it has become a collectors item now) but played FF7 on the ps1 when it first came out,I am glad to see someone making a game in this style. It makes an old man happy to see that RPG's are still happening, and with RPGmaker many very good game makers are freed from having to become programmers just to get something out there. I am a LONG time assembler hobby programmer and have used C,C++,Forth,of course basic in the long ago times of 8 bit machines like the C64. I learned assembler first on a C64,and that started me down the long road in my absolute love for computers. BTW,great review of the game,I am downloading it as I type.
After I play it I might try my hand at a review myself. I just finished Legionwood and May also try my hand on a review on that game also.

Frequently Asked Questions
One last comment, only one other game has impressed me this much. I am not sure if Last Scenario was done with RPGmaker or not,but is very impressive and well worth checking out. The person who did that game(pure rpg) also has done a strategy game in the much larger world of ExitFate. Do a search on google on these two fine games.
I find myself also impressed with the RPGmaker in general for its ability to make game making much easier for people who are not skilled in General programming.
