STATUS
Is the "what are you thinking about" thread really locked just because LockeZ has a different opinion to other people? Would people really prefer a community where everyone agrees with one another 100% of the time? What is the matter with you, darlings?

To note, the only reason why I'm letting this little tiff continue is because it's constrained in a User Status and not in a general topic.
Resolve it soon and work it out, and don't get nasty.

The fact is you either walk on eggshells around here or you don't and shitstorms happen. Unless of course you're part of the majority, then you can just pile on the deemed leper.
it's not really about shutting people up. It's about keeping the focus of the site on games. Too often people are talking about non game stuff and that is most often where the drama comes from . Someone expresses an opinion, someone else is offended and argues, and it flames up. In the past all the drama was about the latest review or someone's rude comment on an image or the latest featured game or some game dev topic. But it was about games. Now it's all about being pc, sexuality, politics, random nonsense. mawks early days are a total epitome of what I'm talking about. I'm not saying we can't talk about that stuff at all. I'm just saying it has taken over the site and it seems like people can't not talk about it. It always comes up and it's huge turn off from the site. Every single person came here becuase of RPG Maker and making /playing amateur games. It's what they should expect to find when they browse the activity on this site. The damn URL has RPG Maker in it.
I don't know if anybody else browses the site through the latest posts page but I always have. And that is a direct reflection of all the activity on the site and it has changed dramatically over the years. Most discussion is in the now locked thread or statuses about nothing. forum games. With a few posts on game pages mixed in. very few in comparison.
Nobody is playing And talking about games. Everybody is up each other's ass about what they said about this topic or what they said about that person. Grudges are formed and personal mud slinging is accurate because many people talk about their lives in great detail. I shouldn't know people's sexual preferences and fetishes but I do. This hardly feels like a game site with a close community. It feels like a social media site and oh we also have aome games in here somewhere.
People shouldn't be leaving because of how the community is. They should be staying because it's a great place to talk about and share games. Thankfully some events are active but that's about all this site is good for nowadays.
I don't really have any suggestions or people to point at and say it's their fault. Although adding statuses was a bad idea haha I'm just sad to see the site turn out this way. Back in the day even with shump this place was game makers heaven to me. I learned a ton mostly through game dev discussions. Now all I learn is what someone had for breakfast and how their schoolwork is going. And what music they like and their thoughts on trump. No thanks.

I was sort of picking up what you were putting down until I read this.
That statement is asinine. That's all you're learning because that's all you choose to see and read. The General Discussion forum has always been here, and the Game Design/Mechanics has always been here (and very active).
If you want to continue learning about game dev discussions (which still go on) and not about someone's breakfast, schoolwork, or Trump's underwear, stay out of General Discussion/Welp and stay in Game Design.
I have this really bizarre theory on this. There's nothing that actually changed in the last year or two with the site layout, the moderation team nor any notable events to speak of. It was all well and good until someone mentioned the word "toxic" that seemed to have sparked a chain reaction in the last few months, we all talk about these poisonous people that are ruining the site but yet I can guarantee that not one of us will have a consensus on who these people actually are.
Even someone mentioning "oh there's only a small minority of bad users, ignore them" might be contributing to the problem, even my comment right now! And it's starting to get to the point where people are getting angry over the small things and generally pointing fingers at each other.
And I honestly do believe that it never existed in the first place until someone coined the term out of the blue. Even this morning I didn't think there was an issue, however thanks to that stupid word being thrown around all day, I'm sort of starting to believe in it. Chances are, there's probably no problem what so ever and we're all trying to find something that wasn't even there, all in the while tearing ourselves apart in pursuit of this phenomenon.
Okay, that's enough weed for tonight >:

For the record, I locked the thread because it was 4:44am in the morning and I could just see the report notices readying themselves to fly into my mailbox over some inane bullshit 'they said this, this person is being toooooooxiiiiiiic, omg dissenting opinions'. I didn't lock it because LockeZ had a different opinion, but because I could see how the conversation was going to go with a dogpile on each other and tearing people apart - so soon after it was locked before. I did not want to subject fellow staff to that and it is only meant to be a momentary lock (but of course people can't help themselves and must increase the drama and suspense tenfold).
Also, you can't really tell who is posting what because there is an option to not be shown in the current users field, so using that as 'proof' of anything is wrought with danger. I never show when I'm online because, well, I don't know actually. I just flipped it to always off at some point and never turned it back on. XD

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Huh? LockeZ says that Trump is not a rapist and everyone gets mad at him? Am I missing something or is this actually a controversial opinion (because he is not).
He didn't even defend what Trump said, which is undeniably insane and offensive. And anyways, the moderator was much more involved in the personal shit than ESBY who just posted like 1 inflammatory thing.

author=SatedThis is absolutely true in many other discussions, but I think locking it was probably a good choice here. The thread was getting out of hand, it can be locked temporarily until everyone calms down.
The inconsistent application of the rules by the moderators definitely contributes to that.

Holy hell, how did this thread get so many posts in such a short amount of time?

When you're unsure about something, would you say you are...CORFUSED?
...I'm sorry, I'll just go home now :|

Also yay the arguing is over, woooo! :D
Link, I visit RMN for both gammak stuff and welp. Like, when I'm creating something, You'll likely find my posts and attention in Screenshot survival, posting 'awesome' and 'subscribed' on promising projects and posting in other development related parts of the community.
But when I don't, I prefer to read about music and breakfasts and just chill. I gotta admit that these parts of rmn started to be little too masculine of lately and that's not something I like. They're starting to be tight pants in that matter. It will probably take some time to make the sky clear again. Months, maybe a year.
Also, I want to thank admins again, and especially Liberty, for keeping the place together and as free as possible. It gotta be hard right now and probably not worthy it, so you got my appreciation for that. I wouldn't be able to put so much time and effort in something so fragile and emotionally exhausting. Doing it for few months? Yeah, that would look good on my resume, give me a good position within community and some more benefits, but doing it for years, that's really an achievement worth more than makerscore.
So, I'm glad we got you.
