Real-Time Strategy RPG Combat

First, I think I should specify what a Real-Time Strategy RPG Combat system is. Essentially, it controls like Warcraft/Starcraft and other RTS games. You select your heroes, give them destinations to walk to, targets to attack, and issue them individual commands when necessary. Otherwise, they will react to incoming attacks on their own.

Like Fire Emblem? My sister loves that game. And that's not the only alternative form: Remember the "Tales of... games? Most are on the Playstation 2 and there's one on the Gamecube.

Real-Time Strategy RPG Combat

Er, I appreciate your enthusiasm but those really aren't Real Time Strategy games. Those are more action based RPGs.

Real Time Strategy is more along the lines of managing resources and micro-managing dozens (if not hundreds) of units on a field of battle to attack effectively.

I haven't played the X-men Legends games, but from what I've seen they're more hack and slash dungeon crawls with RPG elements.

My bad. I'm not an expert at telling the difference. As for X-men Legends, Nintendo Power considered them an RPG. Doesn't mean you have to, but I would rather. What are "Real-time" strategy games, anyway? And if you can make them, It's a couple more steps to platformers coming from RPG Maker.

How do you expand your party on RPG maker?

Mewd, That's what I ment! Even if I can only have four party members available for battle at one time, but I want there to be an ability to have more than four at one time and swap party members when on the field. Still confused? Play "Tales of Symphonia" and you will know what I mean. Or X-Men Legends. And I don't like doing work-arounds becasue they keep you off track of the game you are trying to make!

Real-Time Strategy RPG Combat

Tales of Symphonia had that as well. And so did some other games in its series. X-men Legends I & II and Marvel Ultimate Alliance went beyond that and are three of the best RPGs. But, we need a Ruby expert to help us understand how we can make it possible for the ones we make.

Shouldn't the event command "change class" work?

There is something in one of my RPG games where a character is supposed to transform, but his skills remain the same, even if the appearances change. Why do you think that is? ???

How do you expand your party on RPG maker?

How do you expand your party on RPG maker and make it like real RPGs like "Tales of Symphonia" or "Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean" or "X-Men Legends"? ??? My dad wants to do a work-around, but I think it's lame. :P Is the only way to do this in Ruby? :-\
