Those events are just images, no scripts or events inside. The only ones that have events are the red dots and they make a call to a common event. I tried it on my wife's laptop (to ensure the "with RTP" version of the files worked) and it didn't lag there either.

Fingers crossed though :) Will find out after the demo is released for the RSW :)

The bank allows for deposits and withdrawals of gold. At this point in the development of the game, it doesn't serve much purpose other than to flesh out the world. However, during the development of the remainder of the game, I intend to add interest rates and possibly loans that attract a debit interest rate and require funds to be paid back on time, otherwise the bank will send bounty hunters after the player to collect the owed money plus interest and an additional collection fee.

Here the Rat enemy has spotted the player and will approach the player at a faster speed than it was moving prior to spotting the player. The player can run away or attempt to run past the enemy and if they manage to get past and beyond the enemy's line of sight, then the enemy will "forget" about the player.

Lag? What do you mean? It doesn't lag at all for me.

Anyway, the purpose of this map is much like the old style world-maps where you move between different areas or zones. The player just selects which direction they want to go in and the game automatically moves them along the path and then stops at the next checkpoint (red dot on the map above). The design decision was to get the player from one story location to another with minimal fuss but still showing distance between places. It is more of an interactive menu than a map, so that players get a sense of distance between locations but aren't forced to wander around or become involved in encounters that are far removed from the storyline.
