RIKGUENTHER'S PROFILE
I'm new to RMN but I've been working with various RPG Makers since early 2000. Currently balancing a project that has ballooned into a huge undertaking with a job I truly loathe.

Parallel + Action Key Events
seems like a lot of work to not just create two separate events.
EVENT 1 The event you can talk to
EVENT 2 an invisible event off in the corner somewhere that controls the parallel process.

Chain of Retribution Review
If you want to unclutter the DBS you should remove the name from the "Normal" effect. Just leave it blank. It's one of my pet peeves but it really does enhance the look a bit.
Hero won't stop running downward RM2k3
I tried another keyboard and it did the same thing. Weird thing was it seems to only happen in the actual gameplay. In the editor it works fine. I'm gonna try restarting the PC and see.
EDIT: That seemed to do the trick. Hmm. Any idea what might cause this? Like I said it was only in gameplay not in the editor or windows. It just suddenly happened, he was walking along my poorly mapped town when he suddenly dipped southward. And it happened in Heroes Realm too so I'm thinking it was a problem with some kind of game file that sat in memory and loaded every time i loaded a game.

Hero won't stop running downward RM2k3
Whenever I either test play or load the game normally my character just makes a bee-line south no matter what I press on the keyboard. It doesn't do this in the menus and it happens on every map. It just suddenly started doing it. Anyone have a problem similar to mine?
EDIT: actually, it seems like the down arrow isn't working in the menus. I can only go up. weird
EDIT AGAIN: I just loaded up Heroes Realm and it's doing the same thing. Let me try a different keyboard?

RPG Maker VX Ace Selection rectangle
RPG Maker VX Ace Selection rectangle
I'm migrating over from RM2k3 and I'm loving everything I'm seeing... except I can't seem to find one of my favorite tools from RM2k3... the selection rectangle.
What I'm talking about is grabbing a chunk from the map and either dragging it around, copying/pasting it, etc. I see there are options in the menu for copy and paste but I see nothing in my toolkit.
I tried searching the help file included with the program but I'm not seeing anything. Any ideas?

Utilizing the Class tab for different effects? [2k3]
I'm interested to see what people come up with. The original proposed idea sounds a bit complicated. I've always either ignored the class option or used it for multiple classes. Very far out, I know.
Requesting a 16x16 charset template RM2k/3
author=Avee
Ashley's link is kinda hard to notice and all this time I was wondering if rik saw it, so here is the link: CLICK HERE FOR DA TEMPLATE.
As Darken says, CharlesGabriel's template should work fine (as a matter of fact, Hero's Realm, for instance, uses 16x16 FF5 style charsets).
Yeah, I totally didn't see the link. That is a really good resource though. I'm looking to just paint the naked characters with different armors and stuff. Thanks for the help guys!
