I doubt the average person will trip over small grammar mistakes. I'll have someone proof read the actual finished game. I'm not the grammar police and don't pretend to be.

There's a lot of similar approvals to the point it's odd that mine didn't make it and they did. Let's assume odd coincidence so we don't have to wage internets war for a few days over this. I've moved paragraph 2 to paragraph 1 and added a sentence to the beginning since paragraph one won't open... so the viewer sees the plot paragraph first for this project. Willing to ignore from here out that it's okay for other people to do the reverse and provide no more as long as we don't turn this into a drawn out battle of power flexing and pettyness.

I'm going to wipe Leo and Cat off the list and shoot the game source to Supersonic soda for if he wants it and wants to post it for himself anyways, so the drama thread should go with it.

I had to log out to read your post Piano. This whole ignore thing should also not notify me if someone on my ignore list comments on something. :( I'd be happier not knowing, but I can say that you seem unbiased today here and now.

I probably should have confirmed it was Liberty first, although she did not privately deny it at all. I was under the impression from another user that Liberty was the only one handling the submissions of pages and games based on the big discussion we all had the other day and her reply didn't dispel that then or today privately.

Had other games not followed the same format and been approved, I wouldn't have been so ready to jump the gun. With that and the person deciding being someone I just had issues with... the entire thing seemed suspect. I've moved the second paragraph to the first and added a sentence to help it out... but still see too many examples of the same thing... why the game was made in paragraph one, plot in paragraph two and a bit vague, then features. Sure, they have bold titles above each paragraph but that doesn't change content.

Ratty, you should permanently go away. You're the king of bias always buzzing around my ass like a fly. Short of inviting me out to Cali for a legal sporting bout, 3 round MMA contest with signed waivers, I have no interest in discussing anything with you ever again. I'd pay for the gyms time, ref and for you to be fitted with a mouth piece to keep your teeth in your mouth. I am announcing to all of RMN that I seek no contact with you concerning any other matters on this website.

I gave an example of another game that has a paragraph first about why the game is deved, then the paragraph with the plot. They even have a similar amount of total words and info conveyed. So it is bias, point proven. If anyone besides Ratty wants me to slam link after link showing the same thing, I'd be happy to. He on the other hand is going to the ignore list.

My plot paragraph

Destiny of the Dragon Lord features monster armies marching from Charlock Castle to every point of the land in order to enforce the Dragon Lords rule. Rebel monsters and humans both separately oppose the Dragon Lords wishes for absolute rule. Da'at, his adviser tries to guide the impulsive, but powerful Dragon Lord and help make his dreams come true. Servants and new recruits thru out the game add to the roster of generals that lead the Dragon Lords armies to crush all opposition.

A game that's buzzing now that was approved.

Story
You play as a young man named Nishiki Kitamura. Nishiki is an average high school student who is known for his kindness towards other people. The thing is, Nishiki had a childhood friend who’s been his love interest a very long time ago. After years and years of mustering up the courage to confess to his childhood best friend, he did. That was the start of beautiful new chapter in Nishiki’s life. But of course like any other fairy tale, some people doesn’t seem to be thrilled by this idea.

I could add a sentence or two to the existing plot paragraph, but I'm feeling an initial response that it didn't have a plot paragraph is just bs. The issue could be the use of the word features while not describing a script, evented feature, ect. I'd like to think she's not that easily confused....

Wow. So many profile views so fast.

Welp, it happened already. Libery intentionally, but politely denied a Game Submission just to flex her power. She claimed it "Needs a description based around the plot."

Paragraph one is a background. Paragraph two is the plot description. Beyond that is a list of features. I found over a dozen games within moments on RMN with one paragraph dedicated with plot, and features listed below with slight formatting differences that were approved... even the first buzzing game I clicked on. I thought we ended our separate issue, and that Liberty herself declared she would not play this exact game concerning her power for submissions... but the petty knows no bounds. I suppose I can just remove the first paragraph and move it to some dev blog thing after the page exist so the plot is the first thing listed.

The submission was as follows. I'm prepared to copy past link after link I already amassed of approved pages that offer no more at all... but rather not play the throw other people under the bus game. (Even though they met the same criteria I did, it could be misconstrued to be that.)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Destiny of the Dragon Lord started as a concept while I was helping a new dev develop basic systems for a Dragon Quest 1 remake. I tried to talk him out of it because it's been done so many times, but he was adamant. I had just commissioned a Destiny of an Emperor (think JPRG NES Dysasty Warriors) battle and menu system script from LeCode with plans to make a Destiny of an Emperor Starter Pack. That evening, I told the new dev that I was going to make my own game putting a twist on this notion of remaking Dragon Quest 1. I am making a DQ1 game where the Dragon Lord is the main character and his quest is to conquer all of Alefgard. (I want to release a total of 3 DQ themed games since we don't get enough of them in the West, then forever shift away from making them.)

+ This game features Destiny of an Emperor styled combat and menus inspired by DoaE.

+ This game features sprites from GBC Dragon Quest 1 and 2 that have had edits as well as custom sprites.

+ This game features a shared pool of Tactic Points that fuel Tactics. They function like spells for the armies use, with the Tactic list derived from the list of abilities the curent acting strategist has. The player appoints the strategist out of combat at will and they have various lists of abilities.

+ This game has a purchasable and winnable resource called food. Each step your party takes on the world map depletes it as you are armies marching to do battle.

+ Like DoaE, reaching new mile stones in the games development will cause the in battle HP (Troop) gauges to change a new color and have a new min/max display range.

+ Like DoaE, portraits of important characters will have backgrounds rather than solid single colors behind them.

+ Like DoaE, most recruits have preset HP (Troops,) but main characters gain HP (Troops) per level.
+ Like DoaE, exp is stored for Party Level only, and party members are automatically the Party Level at any given time. Level ups are for Main Character HP (Troops,) Shared TP Gains and access to new Tactics."

Okay, so I just found this when someone linked it. Never even realised it existed.

Things you need to know:
- I don't care. I literally do not care after the little spat was done just who you are or what you're doing. You can put 1000 games through the queue and I won't care - I'll treat each and every game like I treat anyone else's games. There's 0 bias there. As long as you meet the requirements of the site I'll let it through and that's that. In fact, the ONLY reason I'm posting this at all is that I take umbrage at the idea that I would allow a silly little discussion over a game affect my professional attitude towards the jobs I have on this site. I do NOT care who you are when a game comes through the queue. I judge solely on the game, not the person. I've denied games by close friends and even kentona himself once because they didn't meet the rules. That is all I judge by.

- I forgot who you were the moment the whole thing was over. When I said I was over it, I meant it. I'm not one to hold grudges. Granted, if someone keeps bringing shit up I will remember who they are and then groan at every interaction with them, but seriously, the only reason I found this was because someone posted that there was ~drama~ here and as a site mod I had to look into it to make sure it wasn't explosive. Thankfully it's just between you and me apparently and since I'm just gonna have this say and move on, I doubt it'll go batshit insane like some dramas have. I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE ELSE TO JUST LET IT BE, AS WELL.

- Move on. Seriously, you are not the first person who has been told that their game has major issues. Was I a bit harsh? A little, but it's nothing I wouldn't tell you to your face. The game was badly balanced. That is truth. I didn't call it a pile of shit or any other insult like that. I pointed out it had issues and that you were apparently the cause of those issues since you pointed out when you took over. You'll notice that initially I was sympathetic about you getting a bad half of game to start with (well, apart from saying I'd never play it again because no thanks, I don't like edgy for the sake of edgy or games where you're given no direction what-so-ever or unbalanced games that use optional content to create a fake balance), but when you pointed out when you got it and whined and tried to put the blame on someone else for the issues with your part, then I thwacked you with a rolled up newspaper because not learning from your mistakes is how you do not grow as a developer and I want you and others to grow, goddamnit.

You wanna 'get back' at me? Step up your goddamn game and make something that will shut me up - something that I'll be like "Wow, hey, he really came a long way! Good job, dude." It's been done before, and I'm sure it'll be done again, but if you keep shifting blame for the issues you caused then you'll never grow beyond being that whiny kid who can't take responsibility for his own creations - whether they fail or succeed.

I've made some pretty shitty games in the past and people pointed them out. I got hurt a few times, too, but I've only blamed the player (in my own mind, not out loud ffs) a few times and even then I went back and I worked on the game to make it more intuitive. I stepped up my game and got my shit together and I produced shit that I am now proud to call my work. I did NOT blame others and insult them for pointing out what was wrong with it, even if I thought they were wrong. I did NOT shit on other people who were commenting, because that kind of attitude never helps anyone, let alone yourself.

Step up, move on and work hard. I'll do the same. We'll probably meet again in the future and maybe we'll even be friends. If I see you posting on the site I'll judge you by those posts not by a game you made that one time for an event. You know, unless you keep being a complete numpty about all of this. In which case you'll be remembered as one.

Good luck. Mak gam. Have fun. Take care. Later.

(also, you should watch the streams because I point out a lot of stuff that will help you polish the game. I also liked the other game you helped make. It's not you, personally, it's the game and that was a mix of bad design choices and time limitations. I'll link the streams here:
Leo and Cat (part I): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0867Yt-we4
Leo and Cat (part II): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dc-5TwI1piw
Revival (part I): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmcpRXoxZ-w
Revival (part II): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWe4lRrfOG4

The videos have jump-links at the start that will take you to the start of those games. )

Even in burying a hatchet, you have to mix in your blame words and justify your entire process without budging. Your response is some orders, and a big lecture with a pep talk mixed in. I accept your apology, because I'm certain this was your best attempt at it as well.

The entire response comes off as I need to step my game up (not just concerning this exact project) and you're imparting advise on me from a position of being better than me concerning game making itself. It sounds silly. I'd rather not shut you up in any fashion, as it's best when people realize to just shut up on their own. I realized that now for myself concerning this entire matter.

I enjoyed watching the links of play footage for what that's worth.

You're forgiven for your role in our back and forth. Enjoy your day. I'm off to shut up and submit a game page in a bit.

Gotcha. Take it easy on ya, okay? *hugs*

It'll be fine in time.

A key point is Liberty and my quarrel wasn't over a review or even desire to express criticism. My issue was over the timing and manner it was done more so than the actual criticism itself. I'm a "how and why" guy when it comes to things that offend me. I know reviews are for all potential players to read and get an honest assessment of the good and bad in any game. I was never reviewed, or mad over a review. I won't lash out because bad reviews pop up. I expect them with this title tbh. Believe that much.

Take it easy.

It seems you are making this game for very specific people and don't care to make it accessible for those who won't automatically go after it .. and well .. that's your choice I guess. You can argue about it from a design perspective, but at the end of the day it's your choice.

I do advise to take your anger out elsewhere, though. You're angry - fair enough. Please don't keep it here. There's plenty of friends, people and activities to get it out with. I hope you can let it go in a little while and just continue making games. Such critique, however taken up, is not a permanent battle to be in.
There is no quest to defeat the arch-villain that just appeared in your way. Nor would anyone see it as such.

I had this on my review list since it seemed fun, but I am neither one of those people you made it for, since I find it really important to have the game mechanics explained and have some sort of guidance, nor does it seem like you want the kind of critique I would give. So I suppose I will skip it.
Thanks for letting me know.

Thanks for your words of wisdom. Review it if you want. Mind as well get the score for it. The critique Liberty had was responding to my post about what I was fixing, how and why... and she complained then complained more about the issues I had just said I was fixing. She focused in on why it was initially done that way shortly after rather than accepting a fix eould come. That's what I don't like. There's a difference between wanting to help with constructive criticism and complain about content a fix is announced for in response to the announcement.

Ahhhh, you have me back on this. :( I need to kill this blog post one way or another.

Wow. So many profile views so fast.

Wait, how did you find out about this kind of info? :O We're all just a bunch of intermen here.

Also, maybe if you and Libby made a new SWAP game together, you'd have to work as a team and overcome problems together. Maybe that would bury the hatchet and turn the two of you into good friends instead?

I don't know, man, it could be worth a shot, I think. I'm just rambling though, dawg. Just do what you gotta do. Peace!

That sounds like a pitch for a bad Reality TV show. Even worse, it could be next years swap event. "Swap in the Middle. Enemy Edition."

Liberty and I could never be friends. We believe in very different reasoning and timing to critique creative works. It's irreconcilable at best. Years from now we will face off in some RPG desert armed with final gear grinded in a tedious fashion and fight until 0 HP Game Over. It's clearly the only way.

I think I'll just drop it until then and focus on leveling up.

Unity's a lady. Just saying :)

Odd. I took two minutes per person that took quarrel with me and ran them briefly. Unitys credentials came back male off two hits of the provided info... IDC either way. Ratty came back with name, home and number then a website he made that again listed them. Conf came back male with name and home. Piano came back with name, pic and state. I guess my point is it's very odd that the other three ran properly and exact hits on Unity were bad info on just Unity. If someones going to take a stand against me, I cast an Analyze spell standard.
