TERRORCHEN'S PROFILE

I'm not much of a game maker. . . I mean I work hard on my games but I'm afraid they aren't too good. I've never actually completed one, though. I like to make adventure/puzzle games with slight horror undertones but nothing the terrifying. I'm very familiar with RPG Maker VX Ace and am currently beginning the process of learning RGSS3. I'm a very bad artist, but I can make okay sprites. But sub-par custom > RTP graphics, right?

This is the current project I'm most excited for! Keep it up :)

Pocket Mirror Classic (2016)

You are making a very good game. The art, music, and spritage are all excellently done. The plot seems interesting enough to keep people's attention as well.

So. . . don't take this the wrong way. But after watching the livestream and playing the demo I noticed that you tried too hard to make the main character 'cutesy'.

Her little (as some might say) 'loli' gasps and her portrait are fine (not really 'rapey' aside from the title screen). The thing I have a problem with is the character herself. She is so bland and has no personality aside from cute (and overly so at that). The demo didn't make me think this as much as the livestream did ('Mr. Pumpkin?' and some of the other wording was 'so cute' like that.). Now, this isnt wrong in moderation or if you have something you'd like to mix it up with. But she really is just so boring. You have mentioned before that it is like that for a purpose but be that as it may, tone down the cuteness or give it something else to go alongside it.

Many games fall victim to this. I know you're probably tired of hearing about Mad Father, but the protagonist of that game had the same problem. She was just so bland and boring. The creator tried to compensate for it with making her cutesy, but it was still noticeable that there wasn't much else to the character.

Unless you have a silent protag (Dreaming Mary, Yuumi Niki,Ib, ect.)this is a big problem.

I'm not trying to be mean, I really think you're doing a good job. Just hear me out. Some others have said familiar things to this earlier, but they did so in a harsh way instead of a more critical one.
