Love and War: Act I

Damn, just when I'd got even more interested in the plot, Act 1 ends! Drat! :( But overall, yeah, I liked the world setting and the writing.

I really love the voice acting! It really adds a lot of depth to the writing. Btw lol @ the ticketmeister. What's up with his accent? LMAO =D

Also, the mapping is nicely done and each screen is easy to recognise and differentiate. As I'm really poor at directions, you've my gratitude for making it easy to even play through a maze or to find my way around the Mines!

Amulet of Athos: Legend of the Sarian Knights

Having tried a bit of the demo so far: what a convoluted storyline! There're wars, conflicts, demons, maidens and so on... aka that usual fantasy writing and I hope it'll go somewhere. I'd have rathered everything to be simplified and literary symbolism/allegory used instead.

Also agree with one of the reviews that the characters lack personality. Actually, make it most. They're unconvincing and their lines don't really reflect their age or stature or position in life or even thought processes.

Also, really? Zack and his brother put on the halves of an amulet which everyone(the readers) but the characters know, is behind their father's insanity? That was very contrived, imho. You'd think Kilis' friend and sons would start investigating everything related to him after his acts and destroy it.

Of course, it's probably an old demo and much of what I said could be irrelevent by the time the next demo is up.

The battle system is okay and functional. But instead of making people read some text tutorial, why not let them take part in some tutorial instead?

The music is nice: where did you get the tracks for the opening scene from?

Star Stealing Prince

I enjoyed this quite a lot! I almost dismissed this because the start of the story felt a bit rushed.

Am glad I've stuck through with it so far. It's been taking me quite long 'cos I'm bad with directions. However, pretty nice atmosphere and the twists... nice!

Is it possible to change my username?

Is it possible to change my username?

If not, just ignore this. Thanks. :p

Haven't logged in much cos I keep forgetting my username all the time.

Leo & Leah: A Love Story

The combat music reminds me of a Western. Anyone knows where it's from?

Btw, wish you hadn't disabled F1. I'm trying to fix that annoying screen flicker.

And the story is quite fun and interesting so far. The puzzle mechanics are generally all right.

It's just 1 of the design mechanics which isn't as appealing. That is: not allowing people to save right before a chapter ends. The game actually locked up at the start of Chapter 3 'cos of the snow effect. I was running another program using high cpu and your game crashed 'cos well, the pc somewhat maxed 100% cpu. I'm not looking forward to redoing the boss fight. :P

Furthermore, I'd absolutely no idea what to do on that screen: I was unable to exit it and I went under every darn bush and so on, and nothing happened.

The World Is Made of Paper

Hmmm, somewhat interesting writing and concepts: I like the idea of a protagonist who can shape a world by himself.

The protagonist is somewhat similar to the ones in other similarly styled visual novels: cynical, questioning, discontent with life, experiencing a life crisis and so on. Still, that's way better than the writing being a giant mess. Though I wish his personality is more balanced out in the final version and though he might be a cynic and questioning, he'll have traits that'll give him a stronger personality like favourite books/music/movies and other types of thoughts. His world might have collapsed but surely he still retains part of himself, no? The narration is fairly strong and I hope we'll grow to know more about the protagonist: why he's so cycnical, so disenchanted or even disconnected from life. Is he cycnical because that's his personality? Or because he's tired of life that he develops a disdain for anything?

There're a lot of grammar errors and quite a few really weird sentence structures but I'm sure the writing will be polished before the game's finally released. Otherwise, that causes the characters to go from eloquent to sudden broken speech.

And I can't wait to see how the story would be like, in the end. I didn't play through all the choices yet. Speaking of them, it's good that the choices seem quite logical so far. Some VNs I played, had really random choices where the process of selecting them and following the path isn't very logical.

Btw, the music is excellent and brilliantly conveys the atmosphere. The pieces have good tempo, great at implying the emotions of the moment or of the character. I'm actually waiting for Vacant Sky(complete edition) too.

A note about the style of art: I really like how you painted all those characters and even the background art, too. Anatomy seems quite all right, though some of the poses look a bit stiff. I like the styling for all of the characters so far, though the protagonist, Marianne and Jacob look a tad too pale. And the panda eyes don't help them any. ^^;;

Btw, interesting choice that right-clicking = brings up the Save menu right away. Though I hope you all will label that section to avoid confusion.

The world-building seems quite interesting and well thought-out so far. You really managed to paint the picture of a really empty town. However, it seems that Julia paints a fairly contradictory image so perhaps the "view" is one of the protagonist's perception: inability to notice others? Though if the town is supposed to be habited by quite a few other humans, I do hope the writing will actually reflect that.

And finally, he's running away but personally, I was a bit sceptical as to what could make a person so bored with life, he'd not just run away but over-react to the point of committing a theft. 'Cos you see, most people run away by disappearing to another city/state, moving abroad, legally changing their identity and altering their appearance, etc. So hopefully, the final version of the game outlines the parts of his character that influence his decisions. I'm actually wondering if the protagonist has some psychiatrical issues, btw.

Craze was a bit off in his description of Rucian. Rucian is actually not native to Ignacia, but of a country named Tartolia, and the kind of slavery he experienced is not the same as the one that was present in Ignacia. The slavery Rucian experienced was of the traditional sort. The slavery present in Ignacia is akin to indentured servitude, where you pay off a debt by submitting yourself to labor for a number of years, becoming property of a master. The key difference is, is that when you pay off that debt you can go free, but is still subject to all sorts of abuses since you can certainly mistreat these individuals - they are still property. The VanClaus (radicals) and some other groups supported this system due to it enforcing a stricter protocol for handling debtors and a 'moral' way to have a neverending supply of cheap labor. If money is involved, there will always be debtors.

Thanks for the description about the slavery issue. It does sound in-depth and quite well done! Same for the emperor's actions. Btw, I suscribed to this page.

You have some degree of control in how Arian/Granada's development occurs...
A chance to turn the main character "evil"? I can't wait! :D

You don't want to know. =)
Actually, I'm aware that America is quite divisive and lacks a middle ground in almost everything, politics included. I won't be surprised if the country actually breaks up into different countries in the distant future, 50 to 100++ years down the road. But I don't really know how the situation came about nor do I have the time to find out more about it. =P So, I just don't really care.

I do wish the spell for resurrecting a dead ally would come earlier in the final game. Or maybe not. =P

Also, Insane mode is impossible. I tried a few times and the freaking enemies as always come first but with double the speed and damage rate. @#$@#$#@$ I couldn't even make it through the first battle: before I could cast my third spell, I died. Did anyone manage to play through Insane, though? ^^;;

Also, I broke your game a bit. =P The description of type of "current state of attack" Nalah's weapon has no longer shows. Also, halfway through the battle, I couldn't select the monster and the battle ended without me killing the Loaded Cart. :p Here's to hoping the issues don't persist. xD

Also, Nalah or Rucian is broken. Something about skill effects #2 line 621. I know this 'cos I double-checked the order of their hits and Rucian came next. I'm wondering if it's his improved Cleave. Still, I doubt any of this is useful 'cos this demo is superbly old.

Ohhh! So that's what happened to that project. Doh! I wish they'd put in a redirector instead of a "not found" page. But whatever, it ain't my call. :)

Space Funeral

Hmmm, I dig the retro feel: the graphics, the animation, the dialog, the sound effects and the music. It was very psychedelic and the world seemed quite nightmarish but also interesting. The monsters were also quite amusing and kinda creative. And there was quite a variety, so that the combat doesn't become monotonous. Their walkpaths were also structured such that it's a bit of a puzzle: you can choose to initiate combat or to avoid them.

My problem is that the writing was a bit disjointed and the plot didn't really start until on the raft to the Blood Cavern. Even then, the conversation on the raft felt a bit "out of place" 'cos it just came out of nowhere. Still, enjoyed quite a lot of the dialogues and it had a somewhat... nostalgic feel that bordered on silly and cheesy(which is what some of those old games were like).

The combat was easy to grasp and you only die once or twice, in the entire game. Still, what was the point of all those items if you didn't use any of them? Seriously, Philip reached Lvl 20 wayy before I made it to the snowy lands. That's 'cos I was never sure if I'd run out of money halfway so I grinded a bit.

And I loved the ending! :) It's not always the game rewards you by putting an ending, that completely turns the writing and the world on its head. =) If only we could see what Philip's parents were like! They looked completely hideous. =P

Sorry for bumping this thread but I didn't want to make yet another topic.

What happened to SkyE? I see it being recommended here but I can't find it on this site and it seems the completed project can't be found anywhere else? Weird. Let me guess: the creator wanted it to be deleted or something? I guess this applies to anything deleted off this site.
