I received Tales of Zestiria for the PS3 as a gift. Only problem, it's the Japanese version.

Oof. Tales games are pretty wordy too o.o Not like playing some other games with a language barrier.
If it's the physical copy and it's unopened, maybe try trading it to a Gamestop for the English version? Although they probably wouldn't do that, because, well... Gamestop.
You could check ebay for an English version and raise the funds for it by selling your Japanese version. You might even end up with some extra cash if you're lucky!

Yeah, if it was an action game or one with less dialog, I could just do the script option, but for a Tales game, I feel like I'd really be losing something without the English version XD

The copy's still factory-sealed, but yeah. Something tells me they are unlikely to take a Japanese-language game.

Are PS3's region-locked? Would you have even been able to play a Japanese disk on a non-Japanese console?
I think PS3s aren't region-locked? I seem to remember a friend who imported a bunch of Japan-only titles for the PS3.
