YES YAY!!
Twitter is so much fun and you can find out and keep track of all sorts of cool game and world news and you can also listen to me and lots of RMN friends ramble XD
Plus, it's one of the better ways to promote and talk about the things you're working on! Lots of gamedev stuff happens on Twitter.
...also, it's good for goofing off...

I am a sworn enemy of most social media, so take my views with a pinch of salt. But the real question you should ask yourself is: Do you need it? If you think it's going to help you with making or promoting your games or just as a means of personal entertainment, that's one thing. But you're also revealing a lot about yourself, committing to more expectations, and opening yourself up for communication with a lot of people - some of whom you wouldn't be getting in contact with otherwise, which can be both positive and negative.
Just ask yourself if it's worth it or not on a long term, and then decide for yourself.

Twitter is an excellent tool for Game Devs. So yes.
^This. With the hashtag system, I think it's probably the best way to get exposure as an artist at the moment.
... sadly.
Red_Nova
Sir Redd of Novus: He who made Prayer of the Faithless that one time, and that was pretty dang rad! :D

I think so. It's like your own personal What are you Thinking About thread, and you can spam it as much or as little as you want. to expose your games. The reverse is also true. Hell, I follow Slash and he's retweeted a few interesting RM related accounts and articles that I wouldn't have found otherwise.
I for one welcome you with open arms to twitter, uni. :D

Awww, thanks ////
Wait, what? You follow me?? I didn't even realize :P
But yea, unity, the nice thing about Twitter is you can use it as much or as little as you please, and you don't have to put anything out there that you don't wanna. I use mine as a way to talk about what I'm working on, as well as to just annoy my adoring fans with annoying excerpts from my life~

this... would also apply to joining RMN and posting your game here.
We are just hobbyists. you can play the salesmanship game if you want! it's completely optional (which is nice)
I dunno, I mean I don't really use it much, you may as well make one, and if you don't use it, you don't use it, and you might from time to time! :D
author=kentonaI trust RMN much, much more than I trust Twitter. Especially since RMN is not a company aiming to make profit off of their userbase.

But obviously, you are right that any internet presence has its advantages and risks. Everyone must decide for themselves when it's worth it and when not.
I made an account. Now to see if I can keep it up and post stuff on it! (And figure out how all of this works) XD!

A) 2 way communication; stay in touch with people and keep people informed back.
B)Youll be fine as long as you only check it every so often. Id consider making lists when you got enough people youre folowing and use tweetdeck or tweeten to see what doing on, on aeveral fronts as once.
C)Ill do my part to ensure this is so.

Basically I treat twitter the same way I treat facebook:
"Oh yeah, this exists, I forgot."
*reads a few entries*
"OK, that was amusing."
*forgets to check forever*
Both are p. much just places for me to post art and comic stuff I done.
