Description

This month is Pride month, where we come together to celebrate the diversity of love that lives in this world!

It's been a hard time for everyone over the last two years, so let's bring some joy and positive vibes into the world!

And what better way to celebrate than to indulge in some GAYMAK! :D

So, your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to make a game that is positive in nature and focuses on either a main character who is LGBT+, or LGBT+ as a theme.

This year there is a twist! We're doing a Rainbow of Positivity, so where's the rainbow? Right here:

Pick one of the above rainbows to be the main palette of your game. You can use other colours, but the rainbow you choose must be included as your main colour aspect and inspiration of the game.

But wait, there's more! Don't like the above colours? Create your own rainbow of inspiration (of 7 colours) if the above ones aren't to your liking. Go wild with colour!

- Start making on the 11th of June. Finish by midnight of July 2nd.
- Games must be at least 10 minutes long.
- You may GATHER resources before that date and make notes about the game, but don't actually start creating any kind of in-engine content before the official start.
- Games must be positive in nature, especially in regards to LGBT+ themes, and should handle with care the topics you choose to represent. Hate speech is explicitly not allowed and this includes things like killing or flinging insulting remarks towards other groups. People are people, even if they're assholes. Keep it happy, folks! No dark depressive themes here! We're celebrating after all!
- Games must have either a main character who is LGBT+ and focus on them, or the theme of the game must be based on LGBT+.
- Games must have an approved game page. Get that done and in early!
- Any engine, any resources.
- Use one of the above palettes as your colour inspiration, or create your own.
- Please keep in mind that there will likely be a stream for the games, and that youtube is ornery about musical and video use in games. Let's NOT get people's accounts content struck by using stuff like, say, The Emporer's Theme from Star Wars or Warner Bros clips in our games. ;p

- A demo release will gain a participation badge, worth 30 MS
- Full games will receive a different badge, worth 60 MS
- Every game added will go into the draw for a free game from Liberty's 400+ game list.

Hi, Happy Pride Month! I have a question.

If I use the basic rainbow palette (top left in those six choices) does that mean whenever I make use of one of the seven colors when making assets I have to use exactly that hue/saturation?

Can we have, for example, seven maps each using just (mostly) shades of red, then orange, yellow, and so on? So basically we're still keeping the rainbow palette in mind, just on a larger scale. I plan to do the same for the characters too if it's allowed.
Definitely reusing that shitty battle system I started making in the past event.
3rd? 4th? times the charm, maybe I'll finish this time.

Basically, if you choose to use one of the already created rainbows, yes. However, as stated, you can make your own rainbow of seven colours instead, if you prefer. They do have to be a specific shade of a colour for your main palette inspiration, but you can use other colours with them (like the red area you described). Just make sure that your rainbow palette is the main colour theme of the game, too.

If that makes sense?
I'm in no way psychic but I think what Marmalade meant is, must the entire pallete be present at all times in some shape or form? I'm not sure if that's the question.

In Marmalade's example there'd be let's say 7 areas, each representing one of the colors.
Or let's say each color is a character, or some other story-relevant element.

These elements could or not be all at the same time on-screen or in stage.

Something like this, yes! Thx for saying it better.

I think it should be ok right? In the end you'd still see seven colors when playing the game and it'll be super obvious too.

Nah, but it should be noticeably the main colour theme of the game.

I'm doing a sort of proof of concept for my own sake before jumping into the event and I want to know if this sort of thing passes for the GREEN rainbow variant. Thanks.
We've got our overworld done! CrazyBabi is doing the maps so I don't have to (hooray).

For the event we're making a kinda spinoff to a previous unrelated game so luckily there are some reusable assets.

My color-picking sense is weird so the 7 color palette we'll be using is also kinda weird lol

omg i love the little city frame around it!
Yay, I'm glad to hear that! We usually don't use custom maps coz they're hard to make but it's totally worth it!

I can't do this.
Godsdammit how did I miss the start date of this event?! ;_; I REALLY need to check the banners more often...

It's way too late for me to crank out something worthy. Especially considering the palette needs and the gamepage.

Well, best of luck to all involved! :)

"No dark depressive themes here!"

I'm out XD
We updated the submission because there were some visual bugs/images displaying incorrectly + added some small stuff.
The game should be ok now

Edit: We updated the game again, adding a Blackjack and Rock, Paper, Scissors minigame since there was still time left.
Ya'll have an extra day because I'm a doofus who can't count time. Enjoy it.
I just found a bug that happens just before the "end credits". Here's a patch, uploaded to the game's download section thing as a secondary download.
Added some instructions there. I just missed one comma at a script block lol.

Sorry! "orz
