Hello one and all and welcome to RMN's 9th (official ;p ) birthday! Woo!
Our beloved site is now (over) 9 years old - that's practically ancient in internet years! So let's get together and celebrate in the best way we know how!
Making games! :DDD
A bit over a week or so ago a topic was put up with a bunch of event ideas for the community to pick from. There were a few long-runners who seemed likely to win, a really good idea that Liberty will bestealing appropriating for a future event and a dark horse coming up from behind to steal the win.
There was drama, conflict, confusion - just a normal day on the site, really, but we eventually got there and this is it. Your chosen event.
The event in question is quite simple.
3 hours.
3 maps.
3 characters.
You start over the coming weekend, make your game and at the end, share what you have made with the community! It's easy as 1, 2, 3!
The rules are as follows:
- Event starts at midnight GMT on Friday (please adjust your site time to your timezone so that the event page will tell you the start/end times properly).
- You have 3 hours over the course of the weekend to completely make the game. That means 3 hours of development, folks, not a 3 hour long game!
- You must only have 3 whole characters in the game. This includes Player Characters or NPCs. 3 total. For example: you can have a Warrior, Princess and King; or Warrior, Black Mage, White Mage. That part is up to you.
- You may only have 3 maps total.
- All games must be added to the event page by the end of the event (Sunday Midnight GMT)
- Play games over Monday (which is actually the birthday date oops but let's celebrate then by sharing each others' games! :DDD )

If you feel like 333 is too easy, how about completing this Super Challenge? You will get a special badge~!
- 3 different monsters only
- 3 different skills only
- 3 different items only
- 3 different weapons only
- 3 different armours only
- 3 of these major challenges: 3 Message Boxes, 3 Pictures, 3 Scripts, 3 Sound Effects, 3 Window Skins, 3 Musical Tunes, 3 Word Title, 3 Battles, 3x3 Map Size (if not RM, 99x99 pixels works too)
(Note that for this challenge to have been met you must have 3 of these things - it won't count if you only have, say, 2 monsters in the game or only 1 item. There MUST be 3.)
There are two achievements up for grabs!
P-P-PARTY ANIMAL for participating and getting into the spirit of the birthday.
SUPER PARTY ANIMAL for completing the Super Challenge.

CloseI spent too much time naming the skills after D&D spells rather than actually working on the game. Oops.

So if I limit myself to have only have 3 items total I won't be able to complete the !!!SUPER CHALLENGE!!! since I won't have 3 weapons and 3 armours.
Could I perhaps switch "3 weapons" and "3 armours" with 2 others things from the major challenges instead? (in addition to the 3 I already chose)

I've been trying all the entries, and just wanted to say that Sword of Kings gave me an error, something about not being able to open some Sword of Kings file :^I.
Haven't had any other issues with the rest so far.

Taking a break now. 10 minutes left on the clock. Thinking about what I still need to do in those last 10 minutes.
I'll have to playtest as well in that time. But I'm pretty sure it should all work. Should.

I'm so glad I have a buttload of unused and recycled Happup graphics I can use. I'm gonna shoot for taking only a half-hour on converting them.

I've played quite a few so far, Frogge's was very... WTF but it was super fun and made me laugh a lot. Psy's was really funny and Tungerman's was enjoyable. Marrend's was challenging and really hard >.< Just about to play Jero's Just played it, it was great!
Also there is a glitch in mine where it only require one set of teddies, oopsies... please get all the teddies before talking to Mr.OldGuy again. Also I did the super challenge!

Mine is up: Thou Art Hero.
Thou Art Hero is quite possibly the greatest game I have ever made. It's got a GRIPPING narrative, a POWERFUL and DRAMATIC story-line. I swear the world isn't ready for this.
Features:
* 3 WHOLE ENEMIES to combat.
* INCREDIBLE OPEN GAMEPLAY, allowing you to confront the final boss at any time you feel ready.
* 3 MIND-BLOWING SKILLS (of which, you only have access to 2).
* Incredible OPEN WORLDMAP offering SECONDS of exploration.
* 3 REALITY ALTERING MESSAGE BOXES, framing the world perfectly in its beautiful SHAKESPEAREAN language.
* * *
Anyways, it's a super challenge (3 word title, 3x3 maps, 3 sound effects total - I think a 4th may in there by mistake - 3 musical tunes). You can challenge the final boss whenever you feel ready.

I played Orochii and Psy's and really liked them both. I dropped Marrend's after the third monster because it was getting too repetitive :P (Sorry marrend ^^;)
Psy's one was really good. I'd play it if it was actually made into a full game! XD

I didn't include the RTP. Not deliberately, an oversite. I created a game installer and uploaded it. That should solve the problem.
This is why I only have one enemy. I knew a game with only three skills and three items would be a soulless button masher.

Yeah, I got that same error.
I have an idea. Go to rpgmakerweb.com and download the RTP (it's free and small) for the makers you don't have the licensed versions of. I suspect that if a lot of people use RM2k3 like I did instead of RT2k3, you're going to run into this problem quite a bit.

I'm pretty sure MV doesn't have an rtp that can be downloaded.
