white people and their relative inability to eat spices is a well-documented subject

half my family is east indian and I grew up loaded with pakistani food and while spice has never destroyed my body the way some people experience, my threshold for 'too much' is still shamefully low

I always hear people say stuff like that about getting sick off of Mexican or Indian or what have you, but honestly it's never bothered me at all. I like really spicy food every now and then- I just don't actively seek it out very often.

I think my spice/heat threshold hasn't been the same since eating a spoonful of one of the upper tier Blair's hot sauces, though. That shit was painful.

EDIT: Specifically, it was a spoonful of this shit: http://extremefood.com/Mega-Deat-Sauce/

If you don't mind humoring me a bit; Is it bad that...

Sriracha is my condiment of choice?
That I choose habanero salsa when given a choice in the matter?
Go to Hardees(AKA Carl's Jr) just for their El Diablo Burger?
Am always skeptical when someone says their food is spicy?
Want to have a BBQ consisting of nothing but extremely spicy food and matching sauce?

Nope, I'm not crazy at all. XD
"Phew! This is spicy! What's in here? Tomatoes??"
~basically my reaction to any salsa.

seriously, though, my tolerance to spicy food has increase significantly in the last 7 or so years, such that I can consume Medium El Paso salsa without too much discomfort.

I am so white.

My family is Pakistani and I was raised on food I could never finish because it was too goddamn spicy.

I just had Nando's for dinner and I opted for Mango & Lime.

I am so white.
I like spice. Like load the spice, If I can feel my tongue afterwards, it's not spicy enough.

I'm not talking about spicy food though, in that conversation i talk about they were regarding mexican food in general as a catalyst to getting the runs. (Like really innocuous things like garnachas, pozole, gorditas and empanadas which aren't spicy unless you pour salsa on top of them.)

If it's spicy food i can sort of understand why people would get stomach pains, i am a complete pussy when it comes to anything spicy, i can't stand paprika and that's barely 100 units in the scoville scale. One time my grandmother was baking muffins and a pequin pepper (60,000+ scoville scale) accidentally fell on the dough of one, which was the one that i grabbed once they were baked. I nearly fainted when i bit into it.

I love spice when it's used for taste, but not spice for spice's sake. Like, I'm a huge fan of spicy thai food, but I don't really get hot sauce.
It's foreign to them. The spices, and more than that, just the ingredients in general are different from what their body is used to, and unless they get used to it, their body is going to often react in an... undesirable way. This is especially true for people with very unvaried diets, i.e. people who eat a lot of McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's, and other fast food, but don't have a lot else in their diet? Give them some Mexican or Asian food, and their body won't be used to processing it.
Though, I kinda have to wonder how people who eat Taco Bell three times a week can still complain about that stuff. I mean, is Taco Bell's food worse than I thought? I avoid eating there, and well obviously I should continue, eh?
EditL I had some weird expensive Thai food a while back with Dad (he loves that stuff). The taste was good, but overwhelming after a while of eating it, and man, I had a stomachache for the rest of the day. Wasn't spicy at all, just wasn't used to the weird stuff in it.
Edit: Heh, didn't really consider Taco Bell mexican food, more used it as an example. Though it ended up being an example of Taco Bell is terrible rather than what we were really talking about.

Wondering if people get to defensive over Polaris. I recently posted a comment on their newest video talking about Amiiqo, I decided to make a joke about the name and I just got flooded with hate replies.
You mean the Polaris, the Canadian off-road vehicle company?

Taco bell is not mexican food.

Also their quality standards are super low and their hygiene also leaves much to be desired.

Taco Bell is the greasiest, shittiest fast food ever. God damn, that place SUCKS.

I mean all fast food is gross, greasy shit but Taco Bell takes it to a new level.

The last time I ate Taco Bell was about three years ago. My roommate at the time manage to snap a picture of the catastrophe that ensued two hours later:

Love spicy foods, particularly Thai and Indian. Shame there aren't any good Thai restaurants in St. Louis, and I still need to see if I can find a halfway decent Indian restaurant. I make my own Mexican, since there are no good Mexican restaurants in all of Missouri and Illinois.
I can't stand the smell, look or taste of curry. It just makes me gag. Same with green peppers. And olives (well, they aren't as bad as curry, but I still dislike them very much).
