Welp... we had to put our cat, Bella, down today.
She was sick, miserable and had crippling anxiety. The latter two stemmed from a bad experience with her mother where she ignored and shunned her, which to led to Bella hiding from people for the rest of her life. Even when we were calm as possible, she'd still run, and she'd act skiddish over the smallest possible things. We tried medication and everything, but that didn't really work out. We knew that she was going to be like this for the rest of her life no matter what, so we decided to put her to rest to keep her from torturing herself like this.
RIP Bella... I hope you're more content in cat heaven. :(

'bout 11.
She lived a long life, so this was more-or-less expected, but it's still pretty depressing. Oh well, as least she went pretty peacefully.
Me too. I've had four cats in my life. The first was put down after contracting mouth cancer, and was named Seeker. The second was Alley, who died from old age, but his ghost still wanders around once and awhile, so it is nice to see him(I'm actually serious, this happens). Next is Elementary Rosepetal, who is also called Ella, and may be a bit lazy, but was adopted when I was in preschool, so she's pretty justified, having lived a long time. Finally, is Tempest (Here's the part that my other family members made up) Wempest Temple Ton (I pity him). He used to be the most energetic cat I've ever seen, but is now absurdly lazy. I love them all to death. Two of them quite literally, but still!

You do know that if you're seeing something that's not there that it's a sign of a serious mental illness, right?

Like when you see a shape in a patterned cork floor it's just the human brain making something out of nothing, doesn't mean you're in possession of a mental illness, just that you have a decent imagination!
Man on the subject of Cats, much as I love them I just don't get them anymore, they love looking dollfaced at car headlights wayyyyy too much.
I've had over 10 cats in my life only two of which died from something that wasn't a car. And one went for the fucking record and got hit TWICE, oh Tripod ya silly goose!
I've had two dogs, one that is still alive and chases cars, neither have died by car, the former was put down because of a severe itching molt problem that just made him miserable, but he was super old anyway, and the other's over 8 years old now (human years) and is still boisterous. We called her Jojo.

For me, this was Sailor. I was 6-years-old and always brought this cat for a ride on my Hot Wheels. We had a cat flap, so our cats could come and go as they pleased. One morning, my dad started out for work, but didn't know Sailor was sleeping on the wheel well and dad ran over the cat's head. Seriously. He survived, but the poor baby was a little slow after that, and his jaw was squared to one side. He did get hit again about a year later. We kept horses, and Sailor's mother, a Russian Blue named Sam, liked to sleep on Buck's back. Buck was a huge quarter horse, part Tennessee Walker and part Clydesdale. I think he went 19 hands. One evening, Sam fell off and Buck accidentally stepped on her head. Her jaw never quite lined up right again. Cops killed her. They were messing with people and killing the neighborhood cats and dogs and then threatening anyone who complained.

You missed the point. What I was clearly talking about is hallucinations such as seeing ghosts or hearing voices. Such things fall into the realm of psychosis which should be diagnosed and treated ASAP.

Meh. Doesn't really surprise me. It's been happening since preschool. So, a long, long, long time. Of course, it could have been beforehand, I don't remember. Maybe it was the bullies hitting me too hard when I was young?
