Would you even be able to talk to people outside of your friend-group if you weren't allowed to use irony? It must be hard, being so weak willed that you can't have a normal conversation without resorting to belittling whoever you're talking to. I'm sure it feels nice to respond to any criticism with irony for the moment, but how will you ever grow from your preteen mindset if you can't have a normal discussion with someone who shares most of your opinions?
Please, go ahead and respond with some sarcasm or irony. Or just do what you people seem to do every time the conversation doesn't go your way, go throw shit behind the involved peoples backs, while screaming like babies that you're never coming back here again. See you next week.

Let's not forget two developers who have made way more games than I have for even longer than I have - Amaranth and Aldorlea. Praised and respected by myself and most everyone outside of RMN. Yet, they get shit on here. I remember how much flak this community was giving Aveyond - oh how much you could have learned from Amanda's success.

Having a measure of success doesn't give anyone carte blanche privilege to act like an asshole, nor does it mean they deserve respect they haven't earned. One can be a huge success on Steam but still a poor developer if they cannot even take constructive crisism (and has to respond to such with petty insults).
This is how I feel about people who use their history with serving in law enforcement or the military to scream profanities and down-talk the little guy (pedestrians) who have genuine concerns about the direction their country is going. Of course we should respect veterans and other people who've put their lives on the line in the pursuit of national wellbeing, but if you're just a massive pile of shit, I'm going to look past your valor and treat you as such. If my grandfather who served in Korea were still alive, I can almost promise you he wouldn't let it go to his head and become the loud asshole these guys are.

Well it is true that ubon and tevak are partly if not the main reason why i can't be on slack very long because the auras and vibes turn pitch black the moment something happens that triggers a longwinded tirade of why everything is shit and why people are shit and honestly, i sincerely think that #realtalk conversations should get the fuck out of #general but that is something that simply doesn't happen and something that is almost never enforced because the people involved in the misplaced realtalk are VERY angry and bitter and respond with acid hostility almost always when confronted about it. Mind you, i like ubon and tevak, but their negativity is very contagious.
Maybe it is my fault too for thinking slack is something that it simply is not, but it's curious to me that ubon mentions this forum losing members over the toxicity that's supposedly present here, but slack has 206 members in #general alone and from those 206, only the same 5 or 6 people are active, and i'm willing to take a guess and say that lots of people from that number refrain from posting precisely because of what infectionfiles said.
That is my only beef with the place really. I take a lot of drugs to escape my shit reality every single day and for once i'd like a game development chatroom where i am not brutally pulled back down from my haze. I really appreciate when the conversation informs and educates me instead of belittling and chastising me for not being a stupidly intelligent and cultured as most people there are.
