Nothing reveals Humanity so well as the games it plays. A game of betrayal, where the most suspicious person is brutally murdered? How savage.

Cats tend to assume we're incapable of feeding ourselves (which amounts to hunting, basically) and try to teach us how they'd been taught/taught their kittens. Which means catching 'food' and giving it to us as a way to show us 'this is food, giant kitten'. If it's still alive you've graduated past the 'little baby' stage to 'going to learn how to hunt or by god I will keep dropping these things on you, giant stupid kitten' stage.
I've heard this before, but I have to wonder. In all likelihood, you feed your cat, and your cat knows this and begs you for it whenever it's hungry. How can it then think we're incapable of hunting if we're the ones actually providing their food?
author=Jeroen_SolIt does depend on the cat, of course. Mostly it's cats who are still quite young or mothers who had their kittens taken (it's recommended that if you have a cat who has had kittens, to allow her to keep one.)author=LibertyI've heard this before, but I have to wonder. It's a general type of behaviour but cats can be pretty different to each other in the way they act. It depends a lot on their general disposition, gender (not so much, but sometimes that factors in), desexing, independence, age, how they were raised and various other factors.
My current cat now was born on a farm but she's never been a mouser, though she's also never had kittens and got desexed when she was still quite young (meaning she was still in the baby mindset), whilst my previous cat was a mother a few times over and moused all the time, yowling to us to come and get the still-living mice from her when she caught them (if we didn't get there fast enough we'd find mouse heads waiting for us in the morning). Another of our cats (male, fat as balls) mouses ocassionally but doesn't let us know until he's killed it, when he brings it out and gives it to one of us (usually Mum), whilst the other male (desexed whilst still quite young - you can tell when male cats were desexed by how they gain weight. If very young they remain slim. If they grow fat, they were fully grown) catches mice but then plays with them before releasing (still in the kitten mindset despite being over 10 years old).
...we've owned a lot of cats over the years. This information comes from personal experience and observation, as well as a fair few cat books. Again, cats do differ from each other but they do share certain behaviours pretty commonly.
Speaking about cat maturity we neutered my cat after her first kitty litter along with her daughter and it's amazing the contrasts between behaviors between her and the daughter.
Makes me kinda regret neutering the kitten before she had grown. I like my cat (the mom) but i don't like the daughter as much.

Recall how like half a year ago I said I should start watching Star Trek: TNG at some point?
So yesterday I finally watched the first epsiode, and man, it's not Data who needs to learn to act more like a human. Someone should give Picard a "Talking to humans for dummies" book or something.
Also for how advanced and anti-savagery the Q make themselves out to be, they're sure quick to judge an entire species for actions that happened several centuries ago.

Right now I'm thinking that it's really impressive this thread's lasted nearly 9 years.

Oh yeah, this was just my reactions to the first episode. I'm sure I'll have changed my views twenty times by the end of the show.

I just noticed, Pom has left the frontpage.
Guess she had a problem with the wi-fi router. x3
For how long she was there? I remember that was a lot of time but not clue on the numbers.

I have to disagree.
Because of the Q's actions in the episode "All Good Things..." in which the Q pronounce sentence and try to destroy humanity, and giving Picard the opportunity to redeem humanity. It feels less like a prankster having fun and more like a Greek god evaluating a hero.

Well, yes.
But I was meaning as far as the early parts go without saying too much!
