Actually tbh lib, I don't think this game can be used for meta since the characters are... welp, few. But kudos for finishing the most brilliant manga tho! :D

It's not. The most brilliant one, I mean. There are a lot out there that are better, but it was a decent ride, I'll admit. (If you're into psychological stuff, try Monster or Pluto. Both are pretty awesome).

That said, I enjoyed it and some of the deeper meanings left me thinking. Like the fact that N didn't write in the notebook and that a rule of it was that you'd lose your right to Heaven or Hell if you did. Light tried to damn his own father by getting him to write in it, which was all kinds of messed up. And I wonder if Misa took that step at the end - she was on a bridge, outside the barrier, close to the edge. I took that to mean suicide. Man, Light messed up so many people who didn't deserve it. And yet, I still kinda liked him - more so when he had lost his memory than after he got it back, though.

It took me a while to finish it. I started it three times but couldn't get into it - it just wasn't my type of anime. But I did end up watching it within three days, pushing myself and it got better as it went.

Also, I tried to watch that anime - Code Geass - but I couldn't get past the first episode. I don't know, it's not my type. Maybe I'll come back to it at a later date, though.
Ahhh Monster was boring. YM loved it though. D8 I mean, it felt like it was dragging waaaay too long and the suspense was, hmm, kinda 'fading'? I thought the thing about that whats-his-name-twin could be solved in much less chapters. The ending in the hospital also left a bad taste in my mouth. What happened to him?? Did he become a good guy or whaaat?! D: Also never heard of Pluto. >.<

I didn't have any interest in the characters whatsover. My "favorite" one (probably a stretch) is Rem, since you know, she's a goodie even though she's a shinigami. I hated L more than Light, cuz he openly admitted he didn't care about the case and only chose it because it was "interesting" pffft. >.>

What pulled me into the anime was you just kept thinking (and maybe hoping) if Light is ever gonna have a reason for his actions! I mean, the 'clensing' the world thing wasn't even his main goal. It was more like an 'excuse' for him to do something with the notebook. From a person who's way too curious for her own good (lol xd), I still wanted to know 'why' there's no reason to having no reason. Uh, does that even make any sense?! xd

And you are officially my manga-buddy, lib. ^w^
XD
Aw, thanks, but let's see how long that lasts when I admit to be a total One Piece nerd. Favourite manga ever~<3 It's just so damn awesome! Oda is a god among mangaka. Naruto? Pfft! Bleach? Yeah right! Fairy Tail? WTH is this shit? I want awesome in my manga, thank you very much! No second raters for me~

I dunno, I really liked L's character. I would have liked to have learned more about his past and what made him tick, but the way I see it, he was like N - brought up in that institution to take over the role of L as well. It'd make more sense for his character - as a child he was brought up to look at investigations as challenges to overcome and when he came upon one that seemed impossible to solve - being that there was no real evidence from the deaths, well, it would have looked like an irresistable puzzle.
If you've read any Sherlock Holmes, you'll see that he, too, barely cared about the people involved in the crimes, but more about figuring out the tricks used to commit the crimes themselves. He barely got involved in any crimes that weren't interesting, going so far as to deny his help in some cases. I see L as a kind of Sherlock-type investigator.
Jeroen-
In the 3rd movie, IIRC I think L did it himself (he wasn't cornered by anyone and I think Yagami has died at that point.) Since his eternal-rival is dead, who is there to present a new challenge to him? 'Suicide' by that rare notebook is only something someone can experience once (you have the 'eraser' to 'bring back' the dead ones which was in the manga only.)

Also, gonna have to agree with lib about CG. Wasn't really into the artworks.
O.EM.GEE one of those One Piece fanatics again!? xD Welp, I've heard stuffs about it from my classmates. Good stuffs. But the number of the chapters... *shrudders* I'll get back once I'm finished with Detective Conan and Naruto. :P

Naruto > Bleach. Final. Plus the music's better too. Fairy Tail's characters were actually inspired from OP! So you'll probably notice some similarities! A decent manga with decent soundtrack too if I may say so myself. :>

Haven't watched CG yet, but DN is infinity+1 times more awesome than CG. It's a fact.

Edit: DN's ending was perfect. Befitting someone who understands true solitude.

CG is much better because of the main character. DN is about selfish power-hunger bastard. I love DN, but it's not like CG. Because CG is about true self-sacrifice. About wise hero and not about some spoiled child with God's power.
And One Piece is absolutely favorite anime ever! :D
The selfish power-hungry thing is interesting from a psychological standpoint, MM. How could any human do such a thing? Even to his own family members when he could have lived a good life and have a prosperous future ahead of him? One thing for certain was that it was not temptation (the notebook), but limitations.

Interesting? Maybe. A little. Very repulsive though. L is the one who is really interesting in DN. Selfish as well, but with more deep motivations.

That, I agree with.

Hilarious, considering Case Closed has more chapters. XD Also, the thing with OP is the quality of the chapters as well as the quantity. Every panel is full of things to look at and sometimes you'll find hidden extras. As they say, Oda never forgets. Bleach's mangaka could take a few lessons on how to make backgrounds, though he doesn't have as many helpers as Oda does so I guess doing things on his own makes it hard to fill up a background, but still, his story has fallen apart, the enemies are more annoying than challenging and there's so much recycling done - of characters, of powers, of powerups, of storylines (apparently the current manga arc focusses around the same storyline as one of the filler arcs >.<; ) and the actual art work. Most of the characters look the same. I wonder how it can still call itself one of the Top Three.

Fairy Tail actually wasn't stolen ideas from Oda, though it's forgivable to think so. Both manga draw heavy inspiration from the mangaka's favourite manga - Dragon Ball, so that's one of the reasons they're so alike. Now, not to say there aren't some things that are quite... coincidental. Like the almost immediate time skip that Fairy Tail had which just so happened to coincide with OP's time skip, as well as the parting of the ways of the guild/crew at that time - another 'coincidence'. And Lucy looks an awful lot like Nami does... But quality wise OP beats them out.
Also, music~<3 Skull King has his own album! And the songs are pretty awesome, too. One of the things I love most about One Piece - the music is just so sweet and there are songs that were made for the anime but can be listened to on their own as, well, real songs. (My iPod has soo many OP songs...)
But enough raving.
That's the point! It's the repulsiveness on both sides (the "good" side being L) that's what makes the manga worth reading!

And ahahaha never thought of that! xD I stopped at 650+ soooo :P "Technically" I just have 50+ chapters and I'm done with Case Closed I swear!! :D What do you mean by hidden extras? o_O

Hmm never knew about the DBZ thing, but I recall the mangaka mentioned most of his artworks were inspired from OP. And yeah, people had said many, not just Lucy, looks like some of the characters in OP.

Iunno though, the time-skip 'formula' is sometimes seen in stories so maybe it's because that the manga coincides with OP so much that it stands out? o.O
Well, the main thing was that it was at around the same time. OP said there was gonna be a timeskip, then suddenly FT is having one as well. And a war (of a sorts, with FT).
As for the hidden extras - well, there's some reccuring characters that are hidden in the backgrounds - Pandaman is one. He has the head of a panda is like a Where's Wally. There's also some guy that fixes doors and sometimes you'll see the characters that the story isn't currently focussing on, doing things in the distance. Like Nami and Sanji might be talking about something serious, but in the background you'll see Luffy and Usopp messing around, then in the next panel Nami will say something to Robin and in the back you can see Sanji beating up the other two for not listening. Little things like that which make the manga feel more complete.
Another example is at the very start of the manga, before Nami officially joins, Sanji and Luffy are talking about mermaids and Luffy draws his interpretation of Nami as a mermaid. Then flash forward about 500 chapters, and among the crowd at Fishman Island there's an exact lookalike of the Nami mermaid. XD

But yeah, little things like that make it a manga that can be re-read over and over and you'll keep finding little things here and there. Hell, just for an example tell me a random number from 1-300 and then another from 1-17.
I think you should watch OP, not read it. I don't think anime is better them manga in any case, but with so much action anime version is just way ahead. I've tried to read it, but it's not the same... And btw, voices!
Well, as long as you don't watch the dubbed version, because 4Kids fucked that up something chronic. Personally I prefer the manga since I was averse to the actual graphics to begin with. You have to watch at least to the Arlong saga before things start to heat up, though. It's different for each person but most say that's the saga that made them stay the long-haul.
I'm trying to watch everything with subs, not just anime. Because original voice-over usually is much better one.
And it helps that you can't hear the different dialects and accents as easily as you could if it were in English. That way you don't have perceptions ruined... like, oh, say having Robin with a Southern accent, or giving Sanji some odd French/Cajun cross. >.<;

Also, just found this, but it's a bit of an eye-opener. It's the list of the top selling manga for the current year. (Last years' first half OP racked up 23 million and the next closest was just over 3.) http://www.animenewsnetwork.com.au/news/2012-06-01/top-selling-manga-in-japan-by-series/2012-first-half
I wasn't expecting the gap to be quite so large.
I'm not a native English speaker, so it doesn't matter, you all sounds alike for me. :)
Ah, but your native language would have differing dialects or accents when someone is from another area, so you understand what I'm getting at, right?
Naaah, I liked DN when it was actually more psycollogical persuasive, and then Misa appears and it is more about the deadth note powers and the eyes of shinigamis in a exagerated way compared to the episodes before, at some point Kira is shouting: is me is me and do something exagerated and it's not him, and then L dies and Near and Melo appears and I drop it. But the first episodes are amazing indeed.

But I think this is all matter of tastes, I really like code geass even if it has a ton of flaws compared con deadth note, but the final is incredible(predictable but still great), also I have always enjoy Mechas. But I think you all will love Sazae-San if you watch it completely (More than 6000 episodes ;) )

And what's with that monster and pluto game?
Yellow Magic
Could I BE any more Chandler Bing from Friends (TM)?

I wouldn't mind hosting a Monster mafia now that I think about it. No shortage of usable characters there.
