NEW RULE: STOP POSTING SHITTY BLOGS
Posts
So it's like: "I just put a event on my map in a game today" on the blog. :p
Anyway, that type of stuff should be in what cha workin on?
I think one my game blogs for Kingdom Frontiers and Story of Ligara at least one each of a small update, that's about it. So I'll try harder.

Just curious- whose standard of shitty are we going by here? :P
@Miracle: yes, that is okay.
@benos: yes, that is an example of what would be considered a shitty blog.
I never post blogs, unless it's REALLY important or I have something just exceptionally badass to promote.
Other wise we have comments to advise our subscribers and I don't think blog posts(especially shitty ones) don't get you that much hype anyways.

Whoa! Whoa! ...What is this? ...Where Am I? ...Am I alive? ...This is really good news!
Well, yeah, it's rather sad that we need 'rules' because of the lazy and the stubborn, but this still comes as very good news. :')
Don't worry, bro, I've got your back on this one. Yes, we're bros now... At least until I find something else to complain about. x)
Also, what is the criteria for "Double posting"? Or should I just leave that to you guys?

Okay here's some content:
Kentona, we're a small community. Why do you suddenly care about whether or not someone's game blog update is "shitty?" What's stopping someone from using their own personal blog instead of the rm one if an arbitrary rule like this can suddenly slapped down on them? It's not like this site is growing at such an exponential rate that the sudden influx of content-less blog posts are wreaking havoc on the site's servers. We're a small community of hobbyists.
More importantly, I'm curious what actually constitutes a "shitty" blog? Let's see some legal writing about that one. If I want to write a blog post with a couple sentences of blabber about what I'm working on, I should have that right.
So yes, I think this is stupid and worthy of an image macro.
Edit: f the rules/the establishment!

While you have your own personal blog, you must still respect the space you are operating in and the other members also operating here.
An example of a shitty blog would be a blog that is one or two lines without any significant information, or two (or more) blogs posted back to back.
Fortunately, blogging isn't the only feature we offer to communicate to your followers. You can also post comments!
In all earnesty, both followers and casual browsers of your game would appreciate it if their time isn't wasted. We have content rules for all of our other submissions, so I am not sure why applying a modest rule for blog content is stupid. (in fact, there already IS this rule, if you look at the Code of Conduct, it was just never explicitly stated to this degree, and rarely enforced and without specific recourse taken by the mods. So now there is. that's all that really changed. This rule isnt new, its just more specific now)

Although this wont really make me more likely to click on blog links on the frontpage, Id say upping the standard some (or at least trying to) is probably a step in the right direction, and a decent compromise between what I'd want and what everyone else probably wants.
Double-posting blogs will result in the deletion of the second blog, regardless of the quality of the content.
*Falls off stool at McDonald*. To think that’s exactly what I said when we had this huge debate about blogs all that time ago. This, good sir, deserves you a good old fashioned: “I told you so!” (just teasing you).
This rule should have been implemented a long time ago.
Yes.
Whenever I have time, I'll be patrolling recent blogs and warning/deleting any that do not meet this criterion. However, as the OP said, we'll need your help identifying any others. We may also do something to encourage high quality and detailed blog posts in the future.
Again, yes, this is definitely the right thing to do.
You can always put your shitty blog on some other site, or use the comments section of your game page instead (which is basically just a blog with a simpler interface, anyway)
Or even better, have the option not to display a blog on the front page. That way, everyone is happy. People who want to machine gun their blogs can do so without spamming the front page and people who take the time to write informative blogs will get the time they deserve on the front page.
Um, I have a question. Sometimes, if I work on graphics (like character portraits, sprite overhauls, not stuff like recolors or screenshots) I'll post a bunch of them to my blog without saying much else (the images are pretty self-explanatory.) Would that be okay now?
Why not post them as screenshots then or better yet, wait until you have more stuff and write an in depth blog? There’s no rush to blog about things, quality of quantity.
I never post blogs, unless it's REALLY important or I have something just exceptionally badass to promote.
And I couldn’t agree more with you my good sir. Again, quality over quantity. Less blogs of good quality.
I'm a pretty lenient guy.
I couldn’t agree more.
I think this is stupid
What's stupid about it?
I didn't know this wasn't already a rule. The argument before was whether or not we should hardcode some way to prevent anyone from posting blogs more than once in twenty-four hours.
People who made bad blogs always suffered the lash. I've never noticed enough bad blogs to be concerned, other than the occasional new user who doesn't know any better. Not sure what changed, but if it makes people feel better I guess it's fine!

I'm not much into blogs and stuff, but I think it's nice if people feel they can talk freely with their followers, just a point of view.

You make it sound like we make cults at RMN!
Anyway, I personally think this is a good rule. However, I'm not exactly for preventing someone from posting 2 blogs in a span of 24 hours. Alot can happen in a span of a few hours. And it's not like quality and quantity has to be a strict one or the other choice.

That is what the comments section is for.

lol wut? The site's servers have never been a concern. Reasons why this is a good thing, though, have been manifested for quite a long time and by several people. Even if you don't fully agree with them I'm sure you can see some worth in their arguments. (Look them up. I don't feel like giving you a summary.) All this rule does is pushing up the knot a little, and it was only necessary because some people lack the ability to follow 'unwritten' rules... And the fact that we're a small community doesn't really have to do with anything.

Well, it's obvious that is not wanted to go too deep into specifics to not set too rigid a standard, but some clarification would be nice. Currently I'm wondering what a double post means... Two posts "back to back" could be a day or more apart from each other, and two posts separated from each other by other people's blogs could be apart by mere minutes. It's a grey area...

No image macros outside of welp, silly. =P

I think so, yeah. The whole point is to make interesting/inspiring blog entries. A one-line blog would hardly achieve that purpose, but time and effort already go implicit in custom sprites or a video, etc. Still, it would hurt to write a line or two. This hobby it's all about creativity, and writing a small paragraph about our design process or whatever, shouldn't be too hard for creative people.

I think the only occasion where more than one blog could be posted on a regular basis is like when you release a demo and there's lots of feedback coming your way, bugs to fix and whatnot. Otherwise, no matter how much can happen "in a span of few hours", you should at least be able to exercise a little restrain a let other people's blogs sit in the front page a little longer.
I was curious about these blog posts that were 'shitty' so I started checking out blogs. What I found was that most of the 'quality' blogs were largely ignored while the 'shitty' ones received a lot of attention BECAUSE of enforcement of this rule. In almost all case the reasoning for the blogs being 'shitty' was disputed by the poster or one of the fans of the said game. To me this just feels unnecessary and counterproductive: it feels like a peeve more than an actual problem. I would think in an era where TL;DR is the norm that this wouldn't even be an issue. But it's not my site--do what you want.
@ Alterego Yes, but things like completely losing everything you've worked on deserves a blog, and if you had posted your excellent progress earlier in the day or something then a restricting rule like that would really piss you off. It's not like things don't happen that call for a second blog. I'm sure I could think of another situation like so. I'm all for this particular rule, but putting a restriction on how many you blogs can put up per day would be stupid.
There isn't a rule about putting up more than one blog per day, so I don't know where that's coming from. The only rule is that you can't post two (or more) blogs back to back one right after another.
I don't really see the need in posting two blogs in one day anyways, couldn't you just edit the previous one?
