MAPPING CONTEST #2(FINISHED)
Posts
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

So Tau, are you judging, or is there a panel of judges, or can anyone vote, or what?
Besides impatience, I also wish stuff were posted immediately because then people could riff off of each-other and get inspired by the other entries when making their own, resulting in more entries and better maps. So I'm posting my map now, which is hopefully fine since it gives everyone but me an advantage.
So, here's my entry:
This is the brig of the SS Totalitarian, a naval vessel used to transport dangerous prisoners to the Iron Bay Detention Facility, a maximum-security prison. In Iniquity & Vindication, having snuck onboard this ship, you must rescue a teammate from the brig and escape together on a lifeboat before he is permanently incarcerated in Iron Bay, from which no one has ever escaped.
I was planning on mapping this ship later, but went ahead and did this part of it since it seemed to be a perfect fit for the mapping contest.

@LockeZ - No judges. I was going to wait and have everyone's entry shown at the same time so voting was fair and all but you kinda jumped the gun there didn't you.
So I don't really care now guys, either pm me or you can just do what LockeZ did and disregard that by posting it here.

Like I said, maps posted later have an advantage, so I don't feel bad at all for posting mine early. It only helps other people, not me.
I'm not gonna suggest that other people ought to do the same. But to me, given a choice between fairer voting and better maps, I'll take the latter! After all, the contest isn't about proving who's best, it's about making the best maps we can.
(Besides, I already know I'm the best.)

I was thinking about making a map for a game that I had in development, but that seems cheap.
It isn't a fresh idea on a blank piece of paper, it's something that already has substance behind it.
I thought the idea behind contests like this is to go out of your comfort zone and try something different, not make a map you were planning on making anyways.
And I honestly don't see the advantage in seeing other peoples maps, it's not like I'm going to change mine based on what someone else mapped up. (I want my ideas to be my own)
I'd rather see everything all at once, so it's a big ol' surprise.
Follow the rules, you rebel!

Last map contest I entered, I only entered at all because I checked out the thread mid-contest to see the entries so far, and they inspired me with an idea. And in another one, after seeing that a lot of people had made similar-looking areas, I decided to take the theme in a different direction than they all had - a couple other late entries did the same thing, which made the contest more interesting.
Also, generally speaking, more information about your competition can only help you.
So get over it, you traffic cop!
(But I mean, feel free to disqualify me Tau, if it honestly annoys you.)

Hmm, well I guess it's different for everyone! Definitely not trying to force my beliefs down anyone's throat.
If it helps you, then yeah I guess you would feel that way and that's a good thing if it'll get you inspired. More power to your creative process, LockeZ.
Seeing your map, I'm glad I'm not the only one doing a more "modern" or futuristic setting, so I guess I won't be the only one in that category, there goes my edge! :P
Annnd never! I like my little whistle...
(Don't think you should be disqualified, I doubt anyone is angry haha)

The inspiration that I had for my map... Well, let's just say that I revisit something from my past. That's all I'll say at the moment.

Is "everyone" literally everyone, or just everyone who submitted an entry, or everyone who didn't submit an entry?
Still gonna try, but if I don't get anything by midweek I may jump ship. Anyway, Locke, don't get too big for your britches, now. :P
Hey guys, I haven't been on these forums for a while. It's nice to see somebody still doing these. I might enter this.
