"GAME GOT DENIED" NEED BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF WHY AND EXPLAIN SOMETHINGS TO ME

"Your submission, was denied. Reason was: "You use clashing graphics and your mapping is very simple and amateurish. This looks like a first project.
You might want to check out our screenshot topic for mapping help. For example, don't fill your maps with lots of empty space. Also ,please properly".

I understood most of this, they basically told me my screenshot's wasn't very impressive but i need a few question's answered. First off what is clashing graphic's?
Secondly please direct me to where this "topic for mapping help" is located. And thirdly why is they're sentence cut off? It literally stopped right there i feel
as if i'm missing something important to read, is there a way to fully read what they said? "RANT TIME" Sites like these annoy me they always have to have "rules".
Why cant it be easy? And its like they expect you to do something right regardless if your new and not knowing how things work
then attack you when you do something wrong. BE CLEAR ABOUT A GAMES SUBMISSION! All they told me was too attach three screenshots Which i did, easy right? But they didn't
mention anything about them having to be "impressive" if i would have known that i would have put better screenshots! And please take into consideration that
i just started on the project and also new at rpg making so of course it will need work, give me some time i would have made better screenshots. Its just
fustrating that site's do this, mangamagazine.net has this thing where your manga comic doesn't get accepted on the site until like a couple of admins approve of it.
Do i really have to explain why that is vexing? You're haulting my work! Lol maybe i am just annoyed that i waited days to get denied but i do love this site
and the creative games these people made but this site is not noob friendly all i ask is for you guy's to maybe add an automatic tutorial when new people
join. It could say "hey i know you're new here and only joined to make games but here's how to submit your game" not just throwing them into a place where people
attack you for posting in the wrong thread for help. Lol bye i'm off to try to make better "screenshots".
Don't hit enter to add line breaks in posts. The forums and browsers wordwrap your text correctly for everyone's individual screen size without added linebreaks. With them, your post is almost unreadable.
First of all, you need to learn how to type. Second of all, you deserve a

image removed by Shinan for being too cute Muwhahahahahahahahaha

for that attitude. Clashing graphics is when you fix a bunch of tiles together while they have no business being with each other. The site needs to have rules so you would know what you need to improve, or the site will be filled with crappy games.

Your screenshots don't have to look impressive, but if you have something that is complete utter crap, you won't get very far either. Also, be aware that the mod, probably Deckiller, is trying to protect you as well. If he approves a game in a bad condition, lord knows how many people would jump in a laugh their asses off on your game page. And with your attitude, I could tell that nothing is going to end well.

http://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/8095/?post=443875#post443875

Kentona might go easy on you, but Deckiller isn't cutting anybody some slacks. ;)
RMN has standards when it comes to game hosting. This is for many reasons - to encourage people to get better at game making; to avoid wasting server space on games that probably won't get much, if any, attention or are just throw-away projects; to protect the people posting their games so that they don't get driven away by harsh lash-back or critical feedback; to give people a place where they can find decent games to play without having to sort through dregs and bad-looking games and to keep the peace among the more critical members of the community.

The rules are laid out in topics and it is a part of the actual Terms and Conditions of the site that we have the right to refuse to allow any game at our discretion - when you agreed to those Terms, you agreed to allow us to choose not to host your game if it doesn't meet our standards.

Now, RMN is a good site for hosting games. We have the Screenshot topic for people to get help with their maps. The Submission staff are kind enough to take the time to detail what needs doing in order to get your game to reach the standards of the site. Don't hate on that. I know it's frustrating when you get your first Denied, but it's a necessary part of the process.

Try asking for help with getting your screens up to the minimum standard - check out a few game pages to see what other people's work looks like, play some of the higher rated games and practice remaking maps to hone your skills, ask in the screenshot topic for help too.

Just remember, we're not obligated to host your games. But at least we give you the chance to resubmit and let you know what needs doing.

That said, I might float around a few ideas for helping out newbies a bit more. There are also tutorials for mapping and RMing in general in the Development section.

Oh! And next time you submit, check out the links that are in the paragraph at the top of the Submission page. They lead to more detailed information on what is acceptable.
Here we go again getting attacked on forum's this the main reason why i never found forum's fun. -_- i didn't keep pressing enter i cut and pasted my rant from notepad that's why it looked strange and you know you could read it stop lying grammar nazi lol. Totally understandable for me to get kicked in the face if i cursed but i didn't so your argument is invalid mr detective guy. Liberty been the only one really helping me i feel like there's not enough help on this site that's what i'm trying to say. It's stressful having to jump back and forth from making my game and checking this site like now i have to fully delete all my maps because of this which i don't mind but either way if i did get accepted i would have been figured out my mistakes by playing games on here which i did long before i got denied. All i really wanted to do is the blog thing and ask for tile sets and hear other peoples opinions but now i'm just blindly going along until i get accepted.
Mapping?

Start here and read the entire series. All of it.

In fact, most of the articles here that reside in the Game Design section, which I'm almost positive is linked to from the post-sign up page, as I'm sure that's how I found it originally. There's also a section that says "Expand for article suggestions..." right under the links to tutorials - read through at least the first two of those.

As for where things are, a simple look around the forums themselves will provide the information, especially with how often it comes up. The thread you're looking for is "The Screenshot Topic Returns."

It's the attitude that was being referred to - it's the fact that you didn't seem to look around and expected to be directed to the topic for the screenshots. This sentence: " if i would have known that i would have put better screenshots" - you should be putting forth good examples of your work from the get go. If you're new and don't know how things work, then it's a good idea to take the time to stop and learn how things work before jumping in and then getting upset when things don't go your way - and as much as you might want to deny it, that's the impression that went along: the site exercised its right to deny a submission and the respondent was extremely polite, even giving an example of what not to do.

There was no mention of screenshots ever having to be, as you put it, "impressive" and yet you've made it sound as if that's what you were told. The screenshots, according to the moderator who looked at the project, felt they were below standard. If you had stopped after asking your initial question instead of going into what seems to be a needless rant you would have been better off. And you're immediately dismissive of FJ's polite suggestion to not use those returns and rude in doing so - typing in the browser's window will make things much easier.

And it doesn't matter if text can actually be read - I can read a wall of text, but it's hard to read it and annoying, just like it's hard to read with strange breaks throughout text.

There's no need to delete all your maps; you can remake maps without deleting the existing ones. Take your time on each one, and make things look good before submitting screenshots. Play games in similar veins to the one you're wanting to make that're well rated and see what they do for mapping - and use them as an example, learn from them. In fact, look at any game that's highly rated and see how they do their mapping. Play games and learn from them - that's as much a part of making a game as sitting down in front of an editor.

And, honestly, change the attitude. It's extremely defeatist and 'why can't everything go my way,' which won't go over well anywhere.

There were only two people "attacking" you and it probably was only because you posted this "rant". If you wouldn't have done this, you'd probably be accompanied by people like Liberty who tried to help you.

I don't see how need to just blindly go along untill accepted, there are other ways of working on your game and still get the feedback.

You might want to take example from this guy: Offcourse he didn't like it that his game got denied, but took the throwback with maturity and improved a lot in just a couple of days:

http://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/12531/

About the rules in general: They are good to begin with. I got back from a long time of absence and discovered how one of my projects got denied after some rule changes. I don't feel bad about it, after looking at the project page I understanded why. It had too less of information and I actually decided to get some solid stuff done before I resubmit it again.

It also got me to think about what to submit. I had 3 downloads I could submit and only submitted one. I didn't even know if it would reach the minimum requerements, I'm glad it did.

Since you're obviously new here and want some help to develop your skills I advice you to make some help request topics and start posting in the screenshot or what are you working on topics. These are great for some feedback on your stuff.

As for the feedback you got:

Clashing graphics is when you use rips or graphics from multiple sources that don't work together. Just imagen how a game would like with Mario, Resident Evil and Half Life graphics at the same time. You probably used to many rips in one tileset that didn't make sence.

Mapping: You probably use wide open maps with little to no objects placed in them (don't try to solve that by cluttering, smaller maps is a better option).

First projects: You even admitted this was your first and knowing that not all first projects have to be bad, most are. You could have gotten a lot of feedback in the mentioned topics without being offended by a rejection.

As for your questions etc:

Blog thing: You'd better show some progress in the what are you working on topic.
Request tilesets: You'd better off ripping them yourself or making custom graphics, but there is alway the help/request forum to ask for them.

People's opinions: You've just got them and got offended by them. If you don't like that, stop posting untill you think you reached some standards. However I wouldn't advice this. Get more of a learning attitude and use the screenshot topic for this or make a sapparate topic (you'd better edit the first post in this topic with some of your material to get some feedback though.

Anyways, you should excuse the two guys who replied to you first. Imagen how you would feel in their situation. Take something in your head you are really good at (maybe just a subject in school). To go with this example, imagen how you get good grades and some new kid comes in class and gets all kind of bad grades. He starts to nag about the teachers way of checking his tests and rants about how they should be good enough to get avarage grades. Wouldn't it move you to say something or at least think something negative about the attitude of that new guy?

As for the noob thing: It all comes to attitude, if you would behave like someone who wants to learn you are at the right place. If you continue to rant on the rules and keep coming up with excuses of how it should be approved and in a way try to start discussions with more experience members (like you did in the first three lines of your last post you'd probably be better of improving on your own.

Here we go again getting attacked on forum's this the main reason why i never found forum's fun. -_-
They're not attacking you, they're helping, in their own way~ Anyway, from what I've picked up over my year or so now here, is that if your game got denied because of your screenshots, then they must be clashing (which has already been pointed out), or bad overall. Clashing graphics for example would be to use chipsets from say, Suikoden Densetsu 3, and mixing them in with tilesets of Rpg Maker XP, VX/Ace, along with using sprites from like Final Fantasy VI, and having them beside VX/Ace RTP ones. (As a certain lawyer from South Park once said "This does not make sense!")

Having large, empty/bare rooms isn't good, as while you're allowing players to have a wider space to roam around in, there's plenty of other stuff that could be put in, to spruce it up, and make it look nicer in general. Not that large rooms aren't good, they just shouldn't be empty.

All of us developers remember when we first started our first project..were our maps good? Probably not, mine most certainly weren't, but has my mapping improved since then? By a great deal, I'd say, so if someone like me can make a decent map, I'm sure you can as well. :)

Ah, just a suggestion, but why not put up a screenie or two of yours in this topic, and we might be able to help you improve it? ^o^ (They can be put in your locker, and posted in through the locker link; just a reminder.)
Don't fret about having made a bad impression or let it send you running from the site. We all mess up at times and we all have days or moments when we get upset over things. Just remember that you are wanted here as long as you're willing to learn what is and isn't appropriate.

We all went through the newbie process - some of us even reverted to it now and again. As long as you keep moving forward and take something from what you're told, you'll be fine.

As for your maps, sure, post a few up here. You don't need to out-right delete them - editing is enough most of the time. We are willing to help as long as someone is willing to ask for it. None of us really know you, nor do you know us that well - it'll come with time and interaction, so if you feel picked on, just chalk it up to different people having different social abilities and try to get to know them better.

Forums are social as well as just for games (profiles are more just for games, the forums here are a mix, with games at the fore) and getting to know you will help us and you move forward. Don't deny you and us the chance to make a new friend by setting off into the sunset, yeah?

And if you do need to know something, feel free to ask us mods. We are here to help and it's kinda part of our job. Just don't feel rebuffed if we ask you to post a thread somewhere instead - we too have lives but we do try to be open and approachable.
Seriously sorry guys. I was just fustrated at the fact it did get denied i personally hate being in situations where i don't know what to do. Wasn't trying to be rude to FJ i didn't fully understood what he men't thought he was saying something about my grammar (people usually do on the internet) wasn't trying to attack this site i hate that some sites don't tell you what to do after you sign up you have to figure out on your own. This was my opinion and yours so whatever. Going to be a while before i post in forums on here...
I take no offense. Ever.

If your game is denied, just try harder. Look at it this way: They know you can do better. So do better. Do your best. And if that is denied, I'll bet you can do better. Do your best. And then do better.

They only want you to reach your potential. They only want the best you can do. They only want you to succeed.

There were dozens of other (nicer) ways you could point out the knifeglitch. Way to make an asshole out of yourself.

Next time, try it like this:

Youngmreezy155 in an other topic a person appears to use the same Resident Evil script/system/patch you are using. He stated there was a vital glitch concerning knife-use which bugged the game to cause an error.

If you do use the same system and you haven't fixed this bug yet, it might be helpfull to look into that topic to get rid of the bug. It would be a major help to the playability of your game.

Edit: Ok, I just found out the "guys" are the same person. However I think my suggestion towards kindness, helpfullness and stupid hospitality is clear enough.
I could've. But when he said "I'll just tell people not to use the knife (without fixing it) because it usually misses (lying about the actual issue)" that was what pissed me off. In general, you should extend hospitality to people here, not go, "oh, your game sucks." But when a person has a bad attitude, and refuses to own up to problems in the game, it's time to call them on it.

There are tons of worse things I could've said.

I grew up with people using politeness as a type of dishonesty, and found out what some people felt about me only years later, because they were too polite to tell me. Honesty is the best policy. Hospitality is the second best.
The sprites for Ryan, and RE2's black (eventual)zombie cop, could use some work. Some people when spriting, forget to include a major detail, and that's shading. Basically all this is, is just taking the color already on their sprites, and making it slightly darker/lighter in some areas. The pink haired woman is pretty well done though, so kudos, hehe. :)

Next would be the graphical clashes..there're quite a bit of 'em, but I'll point out the major ones(imo). First would be the large Tyrant shaped sprite..of course Tyrant is usually big of course, but his skin is mostly made up of simply one color, and so it collides pretty badly with just about everything else. Brings me back to my shading point on that one.

Second would be the mix of RE3 pre-renders that are pretty badly placed, like for the outside of the police station(which is very empty as opposed to the actual RE3 shot.), as they're close to a sprite of a police car..which honestly, appears quite bad. You can improve on that by taking the RE3 rips out completely, and putting some large fences/barricades which you should be able to find tiles for if ya browse through google a bit. The police car, along with the station gate could use shading as well, but overall not that bad, except it's resting beside more ripped tiles. For that map, I suggest making it seem more, idk destroyed? Like how it was in RE3; blood all over the cars, the cars themselves completely wrecked, glass all around the gate, traffic cones toppled over, ya know..stuff like that.

The menu itself is rather nice, except for the sprite of Ryan being used where a faceset/portrait should go. Try finding a picture that looks close enough to him, then cut it down to 96x96, and use that instead of his sprite.

Now for the zombies, they should be the same size as the Mack-styled ones, yet with how they appear in the screenie, they seem almost like they're children sized or something. Now, I'm not sure if there are a lot of good looking zombie sprites, but it seems a tad wierd. Also, those two greenish zombies need to be replaced, as they clash with the others.

Hmm..think that's about, idk all in all I like the menu, and the hud, just that a lot of other parts need some work. Look up some tutorials for mapping which are all around this site, youtube, and many other rpg maker sites, as well as other Resident Evil based projects, and use what you see to help guide you along. ^o^

Well I'm glad you think you can change unwanted behaviour by setting a wrong example. I can agree with the fact that honesty is the best policy, however thinking that you have to be all hostile to be honest kind of tells something about your social skills.

Anyways, go back to your other topic, I fixed the knife bug for you. Well actually I just came up with a way to remove the knife from the game since it serves no use anyways.

I denied this game, not Deckiller. He's been on break from submissions for the past few weeks, so if you've had anything denied recently, it was probably by me, not him.

My feedback apparently got cut off, there's a limit on how much feedback a submission manager can send with a denial (kentona is looking into changing this now), but another problem was this profile was that the description was not properly formatted (much like your posts.)

What I meant about your graphics clashing is that you use a lot of different sprites with wildly different sizes, resolutions, and art styles, and they don't look good together. Your maps are all a lot of really big wide open, empty squares with stuff thrown at the edges for borders. With practice, you could make maps a lot more engaging, less boring ,and easier to navigate. Smaller is almost always better, don't feel compelled to make a huge map and fill it with stuff. Checking our screenshot topic will help you a lot.

Hmm, damn you're right. I guess that gives me a hypocryte sticker XD. In my defense however: I was talking about behaviour here, not the person itself and since English isn't my first language I sometimes forget which or what expression gets more offensive load. I'll be quiet now =[.
