So the day is drawing nearer and we really need to buckle down on the facts. So we need to decide on the following things.

  • One or two reliable host/hostess
  • What program to do this on (Skype)
  • Time
  • What is discussed
  • Someone to record the whole show and then edit the dead air

Personally, I do not want to be the host, just someone in the background to keep it on track and handle a few things here and there. I don't talk enough to be a good hostess, so does anyone here want to volunteer to either call/sign in and talk, or be the host?

I decided to post it here for there to be more attention towards the subject, if it is extremely inappropriate to have this topic here, move it elsewhere.
Well the program i would do it on would be Skype. The discussions can be mostly about the released games, talking about them and giving feedback etc. I wouldn't want to be a host of this either, i suck at these types of things. :P

As I've said before, I'd be happy to participate in this. I see a few things we need:

1) Someone to organize and plan out the contents of the show.
2) Someone who is good at sound editing and can ensure we get a good quality recording.
3) People to participate.
Could someone explain what this is? This is the first I've ever heard of it.
Its everybody talking to each other (actual talking in a microphone, not typing/talking) with each other live talking about the Release Day games or something.

I'd be interested in participating. Skype would be my program of choice; Its clearer than other programs I've tried.

Neok: See this thread, http://www.rpgmaker.net/forums/index.php?topic=1046.0

WIP: Yeah, I know. What is basically what I asked for in the beginning of this thread. I am a tad frustrated that not to many people are willing to volunteer!

GS:
Yeah, I think I am going to go with Skype.
WIP asked me to do this on AIM lastnight and I'm pretty interested! I am ALL ABOUT sound editing so . . .

Just a thought.
I'd be willing to download it. I just got a "brand-new" iPod Video, so podcasts are no object.

You can listen to podcasts on anything that can play MP3s/whatever sound format we use.

Sure, I am GLAD to have someone who is willing to volunteer. Now we need to just find a host. :-\

I would host as long as my co-hosts are:

1. WIP

2. YDS

Yeah, I know. I just thought I'd mention that I've fallen into the Apple trap. Though, watching Super Kaizo World on-the-go isn't too shabby. And we had it already so I didn't have to pay for it...

Enough about me, though. As a note, I'd be willing to participate/help with this once I decide to get off my lazy ass I get my MacBook.

Hm, well. I don't talk a whole lot, so I don't know if I will be of any help.

I think that June 21st (the day after the releases) is probably the best day to do it. Its on a Saturday, FYI.

My reasoning is to give people a night or so to actually play some of the games first, and to also give an opportunity for the people who are spending all night on the 20th trying to finish the entry to talk.

As for the time, I haven't figured anything concrete yet. It will most likely be in the afternoon GMT-8.

EDIT: Skype is ze program of choice.
A live show is probably ill-advised because that's a pretty advanced exercise in the hosting world. I don't know if that's what your planning or not but since you are calling it a "radio" show . . .

Anyway, yeah, Skype is pretty popular with podcasters so we should be pretty secure with that. Am I the only one with studio-quality microphones available because if so that would be a serious bummer.

Since you're not willing to participate I think it might be in good taste to reach out to other communities and find people from them that are willing to represent. Having an RMXP.org host, a GW host, and an RMN host (me) would be a good trifecta. Jesus we need to recognize GameMaker etc too.

Also we definitely need a girl in the group because anecdotal evidence shows me that having a female voice in a podcast does wonders for its popularity (lol hornballs).

It would be awesome to kick this off as a monthly homebrew game podcast and have this maybe be the first episode.

Oh, this is definitely not a live show. Sorry if it seemed that way.

I will be participating as well, but I am not sure if I should take on a role was a "host" or not.
Oh how did I miss this, this idea is great! Unfortunately I do not have Skype or even know exactly what it is, so I won't be able to listen in or help in anyway. But yeah cool idea Verridian.

I don't personally think it should be a monthy thing right now. I don't think enough goes on yet.
Well, I'd be willing to host for the Sep 20th show. Not right now, since I need to concentrate on schoolwork.

Like Bran said, it'd be good to get a girl on there. Might even want to take that one step further and have a girl host (I don't listen to many podcasts, but aren't they usually hosted by a girl-guy pairing?). You don't have to, but it'd be a really good idea if you want this to be a big hit!

Also, you guys should do a test-run once all the participants are figured out. It takes some tinkering to get the volume for everyone right, and sometimes its not apparent until after the audio's finished recording.

Hope this goes well.

You don't need skype to listen to this. Skype is basically like AIM -- its an instant messager, however, it has other features like calling people and whatnot, so it focuses a lot on good audio-visual quality. We basically use that to talk on. Its freeware, so you can download it if you like.

You definitely should! It doesn't have to be anything grand, just a few words and your presence as a host would be enough, ya know?
