Hi. I'm just diving into the world of video game making. If anybody has any suggestions on how to get started, please do advise. I am more than happy to help with any projects anybody may be working on. My strong assets include writing, direction, and art design. I'm hoping to learn as much as possible to turn this from a hobby into a profession. I do have background in film production, writing, etc. I also have plenty of RPG background. I have played a lot of D&D, and RPG video games from the early PC text based adventures to modern day gaming. I did some brief work on designing a Neverwinter Nights adventure, but it never got far as my friends lost interest. I hope do direct the writing at some point for a complex RPG that shifts away from most of the traditional classic RPG elements. If you'd like to know more, or would like to work with me on a project, please PM me. Also, please list any recommendations you have for me on where to start as well as recommendations on current freeware RPGs that are good to play.

Welcome, simonglume (it seems like you got yourself quite the amount of experience under your belt, already). ^^

Since you're just getting started, I would recommend you check this out, New To RMN, as it contains some helpful advice on how to get started on your own games, engines, tutorials, and even some great examples of some stellar works, here, on the site. Since you seem to pride yourself on being a writer and general art design, you might get some great feedback or "bites" for help on your own projects on the Creative Corner part of the forums. It's usually a good place to showcase your work off to get others interested in what you can do for them or vice versa.

Hope to see you around the ol' waterin' hole (just watch out for snakes...and flying boxes).
How keen would you be on helping me flesh out the story, plot and characters of a post-apocalyptic fantasy RPG with high-technology elements with an SNES aesthetic?

Anywho, welcome to RMN!
@ Addit - Thanks for the help.

@ kentona - I'd be happy to help the creator of Hero's Realm. I just finished playing Final Fantasy 3 (or 6) again to get my creative mojo working, so this type of game seems to be exactly what I'd like to work on.
Welcome to RMN, and good luck finding work! :)
Just an update for those of you who have emailed me for writing help. It's been a monsoon season where I live with frequent power outages. Also, I'm moving this week. I'm a little behind, but I will be in touch soon with some more work.
