Hello Alex here!

I like learning stuffs!
Anyone need good art and free service on cleaning up code in exchange of,
well, teaching me everything about game making on rpg?

Hehe!

Nice to meet you all!
Welcome, buddy! Your thread title kind of made you seem like a party animal, but I see now you're approximately normal. You'll fit right in~<3
Shhhh... it's Sunday. Us all night "party" animals need our quiet to recuperate...

*ahem*
Welcome! Depending on where you want to start (and what software you have access to), there's a bunch of various ways to go about starting to learn things. I'm always a fan of diving right in and pushing your limits, myself.

Hope you enjoy yourself and be sure to contribute. Or else. *ominous staring*

Right travio

How do you type.

GOurd clae! Travio! Nice to meet you!

Maybe it's bad for me to just come and place my foot,
Can i try out your favorite game?

As where to start, i wanna learn how to make system like breath of fire 4, isometric. Keeps the art readable, while not going overboard...

Either that or Mugen.

But i have 0 knowledge on everything. Orz
If you have ongoing project, i'd love to help!

I remember jumping into RPG Maker 95 back in the day with practically no information. I don't think I made anything that amounted to much with it, though. At least I completed a game in 2K, though it was pretty bad. I tried Sphere (Darigaaz, I tried to make everything from scratch when I tried this engine. It was a pretty terrible experience.) and maybe some other engines (Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures, anyone?) before going back to RPG Maker, now in it's XP iteration. I made, like, four games with that, but only one has made it to this day with any amount of success. Even then, it was re-made in VX. Speaking of, VX had a pretty rough start, but I think I did okay. Though, maybe you could say the same for VX Ace?

Too-long-didn't-read version: Build up your skill-set. Sticking with a program really helps, though.

Nothing. Just asking.

Do you know any programming language?

I took courses in Java, C++, and Visual Basic in college. I'm not particularly confident in programming in those languages, though. More recently, I've dabbled in Ruby, as that's the language that RPG Maker VX Ace uses. Not anything HUGE or MAJOR that you would see under the scripts page, but, tidbits of code regardless.

*Edit: What was that comment I made about sticking to one thing? Ha-ha-ha-ha-ahhhhhhgeeze.
Programming languages are sort of a different thing from "sticking to one thing" though - most of them look, read, and write pretty much the same, minus local variations, so you can jump from one to the other with very little effort.

If you don't want to waste a lot of time building an engine from scratch (and getting anywhere near what RPG Maker can offer you is going to take a lot of time), you're best off using one of the RPG Makers - and you can make some pretty nifty customisations with just a bit of knowledge of Ruby (or just knowing how to do some neat tricks with the existing event options).
I've written a lot of articles on making RPGs! Too bad I would just waste your time if I were to engage your artistic services, because I can't seem to get anything done these days...

Welcome to RMN! Good luck with your endeavours!

Well, in recently found a website that teaches Ruby "the hard way"...
The course is free and seem trustable...
Anyone wants to learn with me as we make game together?

Man, i really know nothing about any programming language.
I read that C++ is the hardest, and Ruby is ... Fun?
Or should i try picking Java?

@Marrend Why does that sounds fun? ahahhaha

@Travio I want to, WASTE alot of time... And i saw one of your game.
Pretty much what i wanted to do back then, Suikoden-esque.
I heard this one Japanese designer make a single game on his own, and all the iterations by himself... The game is well loved, and most of all, that is one hell of a toy to own!

@Kentona, That's a double edged sword. I can't finish anything too these days...
I saw your articles and going through them now one by one!
DO you make living as a game programmer or something? :D
Welcome to RMN, party horse! Contribute to the best of your abilities!
I'm trying to mix this greeting up.

I would recommend C#, since going from that to Java is pretty easy. (I'm taking Java currently.)
