I have solved the mystery of Mr. Nemo. Next patient.

Actually, I don't think that was the reason I quit, just a bad excuse. I never get feedback from any other creative work and I still continue with it.

But still, games are not only made just for fun, there IS a REASON as to why they are games.
Yeah, I kinda have a problem where I work on one game, it's really fun....
The I get bored and start another....
Repeat etc.

BUT, this is not an excuse. I'm gonna get back to FE: Children of Destiny sooner or later, and I'm back to working on Alien Bounty. I have a few fans for each, namely RadiantHowlX, whos crazy about the FE series in general, likes my FE game (duh), and loki123546 and demondestiny both like Alien Bounty. I wouldn't want to let anyone down, and although my games are nowhere near, say, Alter AILA, I still think they can be pretty good if I put enough time and effort into them. So yeah.

I always had issues with indecisiveness which eventually leads my projects down the drain. I think what my largest issue is being unable to figure out what happens in the middle of a game. I have the opening and the end perfect envisioned, but trying to create what happens in between can be a little bit difficult!

Oh god, that's me all over. With the exception of the plot points, I get completely stuck trying to make the middle not feel like one big filler.

I know how that goes, thats my major problem... I put alot of work into side missions, and end up with a game filled with side missions, and no good storyline...

2. My project was erased from my computer!
Yup, that's me :). Back in the time of my project, I was using a piece of shit old computer. I had to format the hard drive so I could switch it to my other computer (which was totally crashed, but in better shape than this one). Neither of these computers have had internet for a LOOOOOONG time, so that option is gone. The computer with my project on it had no CD burner. And the two usb ports on it, didn't work. Not to forget, I didn't have a flash drive, money, or a job. Yup, my project was fucked.

This happened to me too, I hate it when that happens but I have a flash drive now so I'm loving it and back-uping everything XD

and this is such a hard problem for me too, currently, thinking on how to execute the scenes and making them interesting is sooo hard :(

Yeah...the beginning and endings seem to be the main thing you always think about when making something then you hit the middle...that's when the brain drain comes in.

And yes I have bought myself a flash driver, saved my games tonight. So no more saying stupid shit like: NOT AGAIN! ERGHHHHHH! I HATE MY LAPTOP! PIECE OF SHIT!

:)
I have a 500 GB external hard drive that I save everything on. :3
I have 3 datakeys, webhosting, and an external 200GB harddrive AND I make DVD backups every 3-6 months.
I've got mine backed up on 100 floppies!
I use a series of punch cards.
Punch cards are bad: You need to keep them in proper order, they degrade easily, and the hardware for them is pricy. Better to buy a mess of ROM chips and program your game directly onto them, either via flashing it or soldering the logic gates yourself using super precision powers!
I'm more on the high tech side of things when backing up. I keep all my data backed up on an encrypted laser beam with an emergency saltwater burning generator incase the power goes out.

Unfortunately I'm still working on the copying the data from the laser beam to my computer part.

Damn, why didn't I do that earlier?! *tsk*
How I back up my game is I tell my dog about it and if something happens I think he'll remember enough of it that he can make it again once the comp is up and running.

And the good topic degenerated into spam. *rolls credits*

I keep backups on two computers, my flash drive, and the internet. Not to mention the copies other people download and whatnot. Yep, my data's mostly safe. Mostly.

I can understand why some people decide to quit their projects, but it hasn't been a problem with me for RM. I used to drop bad time-wasting ideas all the time when I was growing up, but I've stuck with this better than anything so far. Which is good, because I have big plans...SO BIG...
I think this topic has done what it's supposed to do, and now it's running way off topic. Time to unsticky.

Also, all people involved with spamming up this topic: As amusing as some of your antics are, your posts have permanently derailed this (good) topic into oblivion and I have gotten a report or two for particularly...off-topic posts. If you want to make a funny, irrelevant post I recommend going to the Moronic Stuff forum, as that's what it's there for. Keep that in mind next time you decide to make a post that gets you reported - I don't want to escalate this any more than I need to.

That's funny, because the middle-game is always the first thing I think of making games. The beginnings are the hard parts for me. Once I get past that first dungeon...I'm good...

Why did you give up on your game?

1. I don't have time! I have a life you know!

Yeah I have a life too. I am a writer, but I do not sleep :-) I do not let RPGing get in the way. My project can remain untouched for a month or two, but eventually I get *the itch.* The feeling, the want and desire to RPG make once again.

2. My project was erased from my computer!

Yeah, that happens.

3. My project isn't what I originally envisioned it to be!

Yeah, that happens too! Actually, happens to me all the time. Projects take on another life, hopefully that life is better.

4. My project sucks and nobody likes it!

Happens to me all the time. I think it is because I flood people with info where nothing at all can be said. I purposely throw in quirky errors just to get people posting.

5. This is too hard!

Duh, so don't do it and don't post your project.
