According to the Suikoden wiki, Riou IS the Tenkai Star. However I'm sure Liberty wouldn't make him the Tenkai star because, well, that'd be so ridiculously obvious. And she said she wouldn't make everyone's star the same as their characters to avoid stuff like this.

Basically the Assassin is looking for Tenkai Star. If they kill the Tenkai... welp, good job town. Telling people your star helps the assassin ignore you as a bad kill, hence why it's highly advised that you don't.

I may or may not have some people as their original Stars. Maybe. Perhaps. Perhaps not, though. I'm not saying. I made this game ungooglefriendly. Looking up a character name and going "AHA you are X Star!!!" is not possible in this game.
The Suikoden series is based off the Water Margin (much like Romancing Saga). In it there are 108 Stars of Destiny to collect, characters who joins your army (you have 6 party slots in the early games and about 50 or so characters that are battle-available. The others fill certain spots in your Base - whether that be Chef, Gardener, Minigame Player #3, Little Girl who Looks After Animals or Bath Builder). They are each given a title and a star.
For example (one I didn't use):
Luc (mage, battler) is the TENKAN Star. Commonly known as the Star of Idleness, in the Water Margin it belonged to Kung Sun Sheng whose title was Dragon Entering the Clouds.

am pretty sure wildwes is town based on liberty's interactions with him. sorry you had to learn the hard way, liberty. if you respond to this post you will be confirming my alignment to the entire game, so I will use this opportunity to viciously slander you without fear of reprisal: You are not as good at me as Breath of Fire 2, and in addition to this, like to eat cat food.
