Attempted Lionheart. File is broken. Won't unzip.

Edit: This is only the second one, thankfully. I'll do it again so I can give you the exact error jZip gave me.

Edit2: Archive CRC error: "Archive file "LIONHEART ~Demo~\Lionheart - Halloween 2014 Demo Build.exe'" CRC integrity test failed. The archive file is corrupted and can not be opened.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

LockeZ, you have everything in this game but ponies and unicorns...

Oh, how wrong you are. Keep playing.

I absolutely need to know if anyone else has run into this error, obviously. I haven't heard this from anyone else yet but it's still early. Thanks for reporting it. Obviously the game being broken for one person makes me extremely anxious that it's broken for everyone.

I'm still playing Essence Enforcer.

Unzipped just fine via 7-zip x64

EDIT: is that... Metallica I hear?

EDIT 2: Is that freakin Fade to Black my ears are blessed with?

Pianotm, try redownloading? And try saving it somewhere other than Program Files, I guess.

Takin' a break from Essence Enforcer because I beat Chapter 3 and I can't tell if it's gonna end any time soon. Next will be Postcards From Grandma which looks...different...

Edit: Sorry I doubleposted like a shithead. I was just heady and disoriented from all the games!

You probably didn't intend this and it usually doesn't bother me because we all have this problem with the message generator in RM, but the cutoff text is going through the whole intro and I'm missing names.

Edit: It's nowhere near as bad in the actual conversations.

LockeZ’s Flower Bubble Game and Max McGee's Lionheart look pretty fun, as well.
It would be hard to find two games more different.

Now I want to make a game that starts out like Flower Bubble Game!!! but gradually becomes utterly grimdark.

Kind of like Cookie Clicker, I guess.

And Lionheart's alright. My favorite is still Chase for Divinity.

No offence, but screw your game :p

EDIT: (I don't really mean that)

After much blood and tears (and luck on the random encounters), I have made it to the end.. Now to write up a review and edit the hour-long video I've got (which shows a good bit of my fails)

>FYI, I still really liked it but lordy I just wasn't lucky on some saves

Have you installed the fonts? I didn't have that problem after installing them just in case I didn't already have them..
It's an Ace game. If font installing is required then something has gone horribly wrong

I'll try that.

Legacy Reborn...played it to the end, still wondering where the game was.

Ah, sorry.. That was pointed at Max (in a joking/sarcastic manner in the same way I'd point that at something like Dark Souls)

Hey um...so...I'm a bit upset, I guess it's my fault for not being clear, so let me say this very calmly and without getting in a huff. If you (not you personally, just the global you) had installed the fonts that I included in the Fonts folder and that the urgently titled Readme file asks you to install, there wouldn't be this issue with the text being cut off. Anyway I should have mentioned that on the gamepage. That was my bad. I was just in a rush.

Anyway, what your screenshot shows is not the correct text font. This is the correct text font:

See how much nicer that is? I am literally embarrassed on the sheer amount of exposition that must have come out horribly garbled and mangled and incoherent with the font screwed up.

For all of the awesome advances of VXPACE, this is crap we never had to deal with back in the 2k3 era (well I guess it's a little like someone screenshotting the choppy text in your game if they didn't have the font patch, I guess).

Additional thought: (the beginning of) Lionheart is actually very easy to play, at least at the beginning, but as the demo completely does not include ANY tips or pointers for how to play it and just dumps you into the game without ANY handholding whatsoever, I just want to say that I really forgive anyone who thinks otherwise at this early state.

I think the difficulty is more the function of the lack of any kind of tutorial (obviously something I should introduce in future builds) than of the actual mechanics of the gameplay. Garinol DuCourt, Lila Drenarin, and Lucan Kell are a badass unit of buttkickers from the getgo, but the problem is that they have so many skills between them that you can literally do worse with some combinations of those skills than if you were just spamming attack the entire time. It is like throwing a beta release of a really advanced BMX bike when no one had time to install any training wheels. Plus...ok, I'm going to stop now. But yeah, this was a rush release. There's a lot I'm not thrilled with.

Anyway thank you guys so much for playing my silly little demo. Nice of ya.

I think it's Postcards From Grandma time.

I didn't think it was hard at all! Really. I mean, what game is hard at the onset? They get progressively more challenging as they go. Of course, your game had the most beautiful screenshots, I was just anxious to get into it. Sorry... :(

Wow, that's very nice if it's directed at me. : )

Anyway it's kind of hard at the outset, at least some fights are hard. If you wind up in an early random battle against four Winterwulfs and whittle a little health off of each of them instead of focusing your fire on one, then if they all unleash frost breath weapons on you, yeah, you can be in for some big damage for the first few fights of the game. The learning curve kind of gets gentler when you realize that the Winterwulfs can be dropped by two solid hits, and that you do have access to a Resist Frost spell if you need it.

Anyway different people will find that the same game is at different difficulty levels, I've found (with To Arms! and Journeyman and other projects).

By the way, I found the battle mechanics in Essence Enforcer super interesting. More on that later.

I actually ended up having an easier time with it once I figured out which skill/spell did what and to what degree it did so and how to more-or-less fight, so at least the approach (or lack thereof) forced me to actually think and plan some stuff out (and heal the hell up once battle was over) until I succeeded
