So, I gave Razed are the Powerful a spin. It's a pretty cute game, and I could sense Gourd's post style in the writing. Particularly in the case of random tildes at the end of various sentences. I did notice a small bug, though. The conversation between Brenda and Eric has Eric disappear when he's supposed to be "facing" Brenda.
Hm... it doesn't do that for me, Marrend. Do you know what lines of dialogue it happened on? I also happened upon a game breaking bug which I will fix soon. Libby, you can LP whichever one you want but I'm going to set the main download to the fixed version.

Just finished the demo for U.U.P. Gemstar! I'll leave some comments under here :D

I very much enjoyed this visual novel demo! The characters were great, the art was super-cute and well done, and I'm excited to see what happens next. I was confused for most of the game as to what gender the player-character was, until the captain referred to me as "he" at one point XD Also, will the finished version have music?

All in all, very well done, and I'm excited to see the finished version!

@Gourd: He initially disappears after...

author=Brenda
Ah, Ulrika! Perhaps you can set the record straight? Foolish Stallion Eric is very clearly in the wrong here.

...and reappears after...

author=Eric
...Sexual innuendos aren't making you any less wrong. Are you trying to distract me?

...then disappears again right after this, then appears again after...

author=Ulkira
Is that what the kids call it these days? Tainting?

...then disappers after...

author=Eric
...Are you talking to me?

...then comes back, and stays there, after...

author=Eric
Hey, I don't either!

Funnily enough, this event worked fine if I talk to Eric before talking to Brenda?
@unity:
The PC's gender was supposed to be intentionally never stated, so their gender can be whatever you decide. That "he" is very much an oops. Curse English and its gender-specific pronouns (see Tea).

The final version will have sound and music, though not sure what yet.

I figured that gender-neutral was what you were going for up until that point. Much appreciated, by the way ^_^

For the location of that "he," in case you didn't know, I screen-shoted it:

So, I gave U.U.P., Gemstar a whirl. I caught a few spelling mistakes (For example, I'm pretty sure the word "ey" in one of Tea's blats is supposed to be "they". The word is not italicized, so...), but, otherwise it was pretty interesting. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more of this game!

Also, I find it hilarious that Obsidian keeps calling the PC "Topaz", regardless of what you actually enter. Particularly considering the gemstone-related names that the other crew members seem to have.

I just figured Topaz was your last name.
"ey"/"em"/"eir" was the solution we went with for gender-neutral pronouns. As far as Obsidian calling you Topaz... whoops again. Is it that same scene unity kept finding errors in? (Topaz is the default name if you just hit enter FYI.)

edit: Oh, I see. It was mostly early scenes when we were not sure how to do the name thing. I counted three total in my quick scan play? I'll check the actual script files once I am home and have access to the files.

Funny story about Legacy Reborn. Apparently, I failed to set up the events at the wasteland properly, and this allows people to skip over Dark Forest entirely. Which might explain the issue MakioKuta was having with the story flow!

Sorry about this! It'll be fixed ASAP!

On an additional note, I tried Tales of from the Reaper. It gave me an error about a file it could not find. I'm not sure of the presice error message, because the error I get now is "Subscript out of range (6)", which occurs right after hitting "New Game". Anyway, I delved into the eventing, and I think it's failing to find the "title" parallax background?
@Marrend: Well, I figured out what the problem was.

I didn't even go into the forest. You need to get some switches or variables in place to stop the player from doing events out of order. I just left town without Miho (just to see if I could) and went into the forest, initiated combat with the bandit, and Miho spoke like she was there.

My first two plays (the second time to double check quotes before I responded with the more detailed post) I skipped the forest altogether, because I was drawn in by the exciting looking tower in the middle. Thus triggering the final bits of the game without once seeing a bandit or reaching the forest.

@unity and Marrend: I'm glad you both enjoyed Gemstar! Thank you for playing it~~ Part of the game's reset was to make the PC's gender ambiguous so the player could think of them as whatever they wanted. It was originally a male PC, which makes it hard for me to remember sometimes to avoid male pronouns in the writing for 'Topaz.' Thank you for catching that little slip up and alerting us to the slip ups with the PC's name as well! We'll have more rigorous testing when we have fuller versions of the game done.

I hope the ey/eir/em pronouns for Tea weren't too confusing. I know xe/ze/zhe combinations are generally more common, but since those tend to use her or his as their base for that wordset (zer zher vis xrys) I was drawn to the Elverson gender neutral pronouns overall. (Using singular 'they' was a bit too confusing overall) Basically, as Rach said earlier, curse the English language! lol Let me write my genderless alien races!

Thank you both for playing!!!

Oh, crap. Yeah, I forgot to disallow players from leaving town without Miho as well. I think I set that up that event as a self-switch, so making it a game-switch shouldn't be an issue. Still, way to fail, Sataro!

*Edit: Did another quick update. So much for confidence, though.
ah nah, don't let it get your confidence down. Did someone other than you get time to play test your game? It can be easy to miss mistakes like that when you play test your own games, because you know what order to do things in and where you go and therefor execute the game in that order.

The most important thing is to learn from these mistakes. When you are play testing your games in the future, remember to think like a player and try to do things differently then you had intended. That is how these errors can be caught :>

I think this post, and the one after it, speaks volumes about what the situation was with that demo. Though, I still had a bit of time left for the event. Maybe I could have been more vocal about the demo's release to the people that were interested, and gotten this kind of feedback sooner?

I dunno.
I would certainly suggest asking a friend or another person on this website to give it a quick play through before posting next time.

I'm cool with whatever pronouns you end up using :D And yay for genderless alien races!

I've given Gemstar a try and I absolutely love the artwork and the characters. Can't wait to see it finished.
Okay, so, Clouds was interesting. I got the point but it definitely could have been done better.

Edit: On another note, RTP is now much less broken.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I agree with the second half of your last sentence.

Actually I would go so far as to say that this game submission should be retroactively un-accepted from RMN.
