Actually, that carpet is all single tiles, not autotile, so he could just place the middle carpet instead of the bottom edging and side tile instead of the corners. ^.^
There is another carpet tile, though, that is autotile - it's blue. Blue green. Greenish blue. Pah. Blue.
Make up your mind liberty XD
Oh,and this is not really the right place to sak but when is the new tutorial coming?(For the town and the city)
Uh... um... >.>
I should work on that. ^.^;
Since the carpet used aren't autotile, you have to manually place them. And I've always advocated making use of the behind the wall illusion that the 3/4 graphics gives us - usually by using shift mapping. In this case I'd actually recommend slimming the carpet down to just two wide but that's personal preference - I like runners to look like runners and not giant rugs. XD

Shows how long it's been since I last used that tileset!
Don't worry, I had just used it today and gotten annoyed at it not being autotile, so it was fresh in my mind. ^.^)b

So I whipped up a teensy little map for this exercise. I was going for a witch's cavern shop filled with potions, herbs, ingredients and whatnot, and was surprised by how limited the default RTP was in that regard. D:
Yeah, it'd be a good idea to check out some edits. Sadly there's only so much room on each tileset and while there's enough to make a game, that doesn't mean there's enough to rock out with deco. XD
@Ratty That is extremely cute. It really hits a sweet spot between too little and too much aesthetic detail.
Do you take requests? if so can you do a "Science Lab" theme week? And when i mean science lab i mean the Aperture Science type of lab!

Well, nice map!Only one thing:the little rock piles look a bit random. You over used them. You could use one or two instead.

Ok, there will be science labbing. It won't be next week, tho.

Good call, ED! The fact that this space has been made into a livable area means that the ground would have been cleared of rubble - the pebbles would have been removed and maybe the small rocks as well. The stela's, maybe not. Perhaps she's not strong or capable enough to remove them (even though she got that long-ass table in without issue, it seems.)
She probably would have thrown away the broken pot, too, unless there's a reason for it.
I do like that you thought about what would fit through the 'doors' of the room and kept things at the proper size. Sometimes people won't think about things like that and have ridiculous sizing going on, like a 5-tile wide table with doors that are only 1 wide and 2 high (were the rooms built around the table?!). It's something to think about when mapping, that's for sure~ XD
I like the idea of having a shop inside a cave. Pretty good job, map wise. Also, about the limiting details in the RTP: you could mix up two of those rock piles with the dead grass (from TileB) for example.
I made a map like that some time ago, so I'll try to post it sometime this weekend.
Here's part of an old volcano summit map I made for my first game. I think it turned out pretty cool.

(Might update this one without dialogue to show more of the map.)

Wooden bridges would probably catch on fire as soon as it so much as looked at the lava in that screenshot. XD

Yeah but there's loads of games where there are wooden bridges on lava.Pretty sure mario galaxy had one but I may be wrong,it's been a year since I finished both mario galaxies.

I'm pretty sure in Super Mario Galaxy everything in the lava level is made out of things like metal, stone or brick. That doesn't stop luiishu's screenshot from looking completely implausible, though. Just because it's in another game doesn't mean it makes sense.

So? Just because one game dev drops the ball doesn't mean others have to. What does what any other game has got to do with your game? Unless it's a fan game and even then, there is such thing as improving on past ideas. If no-one improved on others' designs we'd still be sitting around poking dinosaurs with fuckin' sticks. :/
It's implausible to have wooden bridges for a very logical reason. So use the freakin' stone ones instead! It's not like you'd have to make edits or anything since they already exist in the tileset. Geez.

LOL! That is so true, I never thought of that! xD I'll change them to the steel or stone bridges.
Also: video game logic! The whole world the game takes place in IS magical and is supposed to be surreal and unnatural. Your point is valid however and in this case, it's probably for the better, since it may confuse some.
EDIT: Found another old map which I think will fit the very first theme. It's very old though.

It's supposed to be a battleback for an epic bridge battle.
I do believe it's supposed to be that we just make a map every week, specific to the theme. If you can use old ones please correct me...
I might join this sometime. I'd like to get better at mapping soon, as I'm working on my first game andit is totally shitty, well, it's my first game and that pretty much tells you everything haha
