Making world maps is harder than it looks, instead of making a whole world I just made some islands...
Technically I'm cheating, since these are both maps I made ages ago, but I consider them my best world mapping to date. First off is a 2k3 RTP map made in VXA (huge image):

I'll sit this one out because I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE world maps. They annoy me :P
I would rather explore the world myself than become a giant and walk around the planet.

Pizza - I dread to think how long they both took.
ED - Nah not Pixel Myth, it's a new pack called Time Fantasy by the same artist behind Old School Modern.

Waka, that castle town is pretty cute. I would fragment forests a bit. Also, putting water behind the upper part of the town would make it look more plastic.

It was from a secret RTP that isn't well known. Not bad, though the edging on the long grass and mountains against the water is messed up.
These World Maps look so awesome. Looking at all of these screen shots has got my creative juices pumping. I can't wait to get my hands dirty with mapping residue. Totally subscribing to this thread!

Yeah. I stumbled apon it many years ago and used it for CC without realising what it was. A long while later Nessy mentioned a secret RTP when we were chatting and showed me an image and, hey, surprise! It was the graphics I'd picked up from who-knows-where. I'm quite fond of them.

Amazing! Do they have dungeon and town tilesets in them, too?
EDIT: Well if you used them in CC, of course they do! I played a decent amount of that game XD

I don't think I have this secret RTP. I found it a folder called Chipset, where are...chipsets. Some look like rearranged 2k3 RTP, some are like this and some are oddities like 'body' or 'inferno.'
