Montreal will win a game in Tampa, but then lose the other, and come home down 3-1. They will win the home game, but then lose in Tampa for game 6.
Just reminding you all of what I said a few days ago.

Heyooo!

Stupid Capitals - THEY CHOKED AGAIN!!! >:(

Even when they were up 3-1 in the series and had a chance to put these fools away back in game 5 – THEY STILL COULDN’T GET IT DONE!!!

- THIS TEAM IS CURSED, I TELL YOU! CURRRRRSED!!!

So much for mister “guarantee”. The next time that Ovechkin decides to guarantee something to the public like that again I hope it’s to announce what golf course he’s going to play on tomorrow and what time tee-times start. F**king hell…

- 3rd place, here I come!!! :D

...So with the Rangers comeback from behind three games to one game 7 win over the Capitals Chokers, both Kentona and GreatRedSpirit each receive 2 points each, putting Kentona now in a tie for 2nd place and only 2 points behind UPRC for the lead.

It’s basically going to come down between you two guys for first place, depending on what the Ducks and the Rangers do in the next round, of course.
so for me it all comes down to how well the Rangers do. If they beat Tampa, I tie, if they do it in 6 I win, or if they go on to win the cup I win.

Fuck. I don't even like the Rangers. it will be tough cheering for them.

Hey, the Rangers won today. 2-1.

(Honestly, I didn’t even know that they were even playing today until I just found out.)

And I think I’ll cheer for Anaheim the rest of the way; they’re the lesser of the three evils. Although the only good thing about the Rangers winning the cup would be to see Alain Vigneault, our old coach, finally win one.
So far so good for team kentona!

So Tampa Bay managed to pull it out of the bag, huh? Frankly, I’m actually quite surprised about it. I thought that the Rangers would kill ‘em in 5 or 6 before this series even started, because they clearly had the better team on paper, but they sure have proven me and a lot of people wrong.

And congrats to former Canucks assistant coach Rick Bowness and former player Jason Garrison for making it this far. I actually got to meet Mr. Bowness a few years ago while riding the skytrain downtown and got the chance to talk to him for a little bit. Seemed like a very nice, down to earth guy. It was a shame that he didn’t manage to win a cup in 2011 with us but hopefully this year might be a bit different for him and Jason. Good luck in the finals, you guys. :)

And with the Rangers loss, congratulations, UPRC, you are now the champion of the pool. I now bow down to you in the face of your amazing hockey wisdom. Nicely done.

I also feel like you should deserve at least something for this, so I quickly whipped up a little nice achievement badge for you and I’ll go see if kentona can add this to the official achievements list.

I mean, I know this isn’t a game related achievement, or anything like that, per say, but if I can get one for posting first in the 1000th page in the "What Are You Thinking About?” thread and that had nothing to do with anything game related, then surely this should count.

So all that’s left now is to see who gets out of the west and who ultimately wins the Stanley Cup.

- Should be fun tomorrow! :D

So it’s gonna be the Hawks and the Lightning for the Stanley Cup this year. Man - who could have predicted that? I mean, for Tampa, not Chicago, lol.

I don’t mind both teams, but I’m going to go cheer for the Lightning. They have two former Canucks on their team verses none, so I have to pick the Lightning. :P

And, holy shit, I guess since the Ducks didn’t manage to win Game 7 and nobody got any more points because of that – I actually finished in 2nd place! Woot!!!

(…Okay, TIED for 2nd place, but whatever.)

Me. I had Tampa Bay beating Minnesota for the cup on my nhl.com bracket.
I DONT SEE YOUR PREDICTIONS HERE IN THIS THREAD.

The funny thing is that I mostly just watch IIHF/Olympic hockey.

Lol.

You know, one of the things that I’ve noticed about fantasy sports the more that I’ve been playing them over the years is that it’s always the people who don’t follow sports that much in particular who are always the ones who manage to win things like this. It’s sickening.

Next time, I’m picking blind. Screw the analytics and the quote-unquote “favorites”. I’m just gonna throw it out on a dart board and hope that I get lucky next time.

So the Chicago Blackhawks managed to get things done and win their 3rd Stanley Cup in 6 years on home ice 2-0 over the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 6.

I kind of enjoyed watching this series...not as much as some of the other past cup finals, but it was still overall pretty good. I probably would have gotten into more if it wasn’t for the NBA Finals being so incredibly awesome and the FIFA Women’s World Cup going on at the same time – but hey, it’s over. Hawks win. We can finally get on with the rest of our lives…(at least until the NHL Draft and Free Agency starts).

I feel a bit bad for Tampa, but considering this team is quite young and inexperienced still, they did an amazing job just to get here in the first place. Bishop played his ass off, but the rest of the team just couldn’t get it done. Stamkos seemed to have disappeared as well, and I guess a lot of them were playing hurt throughout this series. Either way, good job to both teams for getting this far.

Now I guess there's nothing left to do but wait until the draft starts (which is around two weeks away, actually - yay). ^^
Yep. Can't wait until I get my hopes up for Edmonton ("This year will be different!") only to have it shattered by game 20, with their record at something like 4-13-3 and their playoff hopes already dashed.
And the new hot #1 draft pick superstar will be doomed to obscurity being on the Oilers, never getting a chance to learn nor shine

Depends what Edmonton does in free agency. If they can manage to pick up a veteran defencemen and a pretty good goalie, then they actually might have a chance to contend for a playoff spot next year. I mean, they do have $18 million in cap space and need to at least sign another six more players, so they should be able to get at least somebody. Mike Green and maybe Cody Franson might be good pickups for the Oilers on D, and Antti Niemi would be perfect in goal, considering that Todd McLellan will be there. If they could do that, then they should be much better next year. If not, then it might be another 2 - 3 years before Edmonton can contend again, especially in the Pacific.
