FINAL FANTASY: RECORD KEEPER
Posts
It's not like he's useless. He's weak, but he can still use Magic Breakdown which is pretty important for Jenova.
WELL I DID MY FINAL PULL (out of 3, I didn't do a pull last round): Blazefire Sabre dupe and Tellah's Polymorph Rod. I mean, the IV synergy really can't be ignored and Tellah's a pretty solid character so I'm not unhappy in the least. LockeZ got Tyrfing so that helps us all out. BFS dupe means I can 6* and have Lightning absolutely WRECK SHIT during Hope's event on Thursday ~~~ (nevermind that she's already my second-highest level char behind Balthier)
I'm doing really well in FF4/8/13. I have relics for Rydia, Pecil, Tellah, Quistis, Selphie, Irvine, Lightning, Vanille, and Snow. I also have Gold Bangle which is sweet.
Which (+ Sentinel Grimoire) do you guys want up for the 13 and 8 events coming up?

Well I got Quistis' whip, a Silver Barrette, and a second OWA. Maser Eye is pretty underwhelming, but magic and breakdowns aren't a bad combo, so I reckon I'll level her up to speed.
Back to the orb mines. I still need 2 major powers for Full Break. Cloud might hit 80 by then, at least!

LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Anybody who wants Advance and doesn't already have me on their friend list, my friend code is in a Hide tag at the bottom of the first post in this thread.
Advance is 250% Attack and 50% Defense for one character. When combined with the skill Retaliate, it lets every member of your party do 7000+ damage with every hit by attacking the retaliator. This works because, if you attack a party member who has used Retaliate, they will "counter" by attacking the enemy. If you use Double Cut or Tempo Flurry to attack the retaliator, it gets countered twice, so you do 14000+ damage. Retaliate also causes all single-target physical attacks/skills to miss the character, so the reduced defense from Advance is not an issue most of the time.

I got a second Vega 42s and a Buster Sword. Going to use the gun on Lightning rather than combine it, for at least the short term. And now I have four FF7 swords if you count that golden one I'll get tomorrow.
Is it just because I'm using Bluestacks or does this game suffer from really bad performance?
I started on it yesterday, and I can see why it could be considered addictive, but I didn't have a great first experience with it. Among other things, it felt a bit condescending and simple, and I was pretty annoyed that Cloud couldn't use lightning magic, given he starts with it in FF7. In fact, I can't seem to find any information on what abilities characters can use and what they can't, and that combined with the awkward interface and chugginess is somewhat dampening my enthusiasm.
Definitely willing to give it another try, though.

The performance is pretty bad all around. I play on a Galaxy Note 4, and the menu for choosing a realm is barely functional.
Character abilities are divided into types and ratings, rather than specific spells. So, Thunder is a Black Magic skill, which is a category that Cloud can't use. Don't worry; he doesn't need the help - he can use Spellblade abilities, which are elemental attacks based off of physical instead of magical stats.
Here's a big old list of who has levels in what: http://ffrk.kongbakpao.com/character-usable-abilities/
Typically, characters fall into a role in FFRK, even if they were more or less "open" in their respective games. The game is a bit inconsistent in how well or poorly certain characters were adapted (Rinoa is one of the best black mages, for instance, while oddball "jack of all trades" characters like Kimahri suffer greatly from the lack of specialization). For all but the highest-difficulty content, though, you're pretty safe in using whichever characters you like the most. The rest of us in this thread are just crazy min-maxers.

If you long-press over anybody in almost any menu (including the party menu where they don't look like a button), you can press "Usable" to see everything they can do.
I get excellent performance on my Nexus 9 tablet, but it's also a large tablet.
Cloud is one of the top 3 characters in the game, and like Deltree said he gets Thundara Strike. He is very capable =P

That's disappointing. It seems a little irresponsible of them to make a game so dolled up that it can barely run. I had assumed it was an issue related to trying to emulate Android in Windows, but I guess it'd be the same if I switched over.

Thank you for the information! I was confused, because it told me what the White Mage and Black Mage could use, but I had no idea how to locate that information for my other characters. There are probably other places where I'll disagree with their interpretation of a character, but I can get past it. I'll probably be min-maxing alongside everyone else, soon enough!

I figured I was probably just looking in the wrong place, and that they wouldn't be so silly as to not include that information. And I'm glad I have some potential recourse for the performance.. there is a tablet I could make use of, but I'm not so sure of its stats at the moment. Thanks!
easiest boss rush yet, even with my extremely limited relic synergy. jenova life was easy too. now i'm grinding barret to 50 in the orb dungeon for jenova death. =||||| (L45... gotta... keep going....)
I use Bluestacks on my Surface and it runs fine. The main problem is it queries the server every time you touch snything, and that part is sluggish.
Did 100 gems + 2 myth pulls. Royal Crown (4* magic head gear from IV; I already have a copy so this is really nice for combining) and Wyrmfang! I now have both of Vanille's relics. I set Oerba's Boon up as my RW, but if you guys need Sentinel Grimoire/Blazefire Rush/Deprotectga/Froststrike (lol you aren't gonna need froststrike) let me know. So much FF13 synergy...

Guys FFT Agrias, Ramza and Mustadio are out in Japan. Ramza's Throw Stone is like Throw Boulder w.
NEW FAVOURITE PARTY. I don't need slots 4 and 5. Wouldn't mind Delita, though.
So, I'm enjoying the game more now, and starting to encounter the "where did those hours go?" that comes with addiction. The performance is mostly bearable, except when I'm selecting a realm, and at least battles are quite fast. But I could still do without all the various bells and whistles that slow things down, such as the little cutscenes when you combine equipment.
I don't yet feel that it's as customisable or as free as I'd like. Even after the lengthy condescending tutorial you have very few options, but they're gradually opening up as I do more dungeons and earn more characters.
Currently using Ranger, Rydia, Kain, White Mage and Wakka. I'm happy with the team for now, but I wish I could hurry up and earn more ability components so I can make the abilities that I want. My White Mage is great for prayer, but has very little to do in battle usually.
You can get quite a few characters from the FF13 event going on right now, if you can tackle it yet. The "core" (un-named) characters are universally bad in stats and abilities, so it will help to ditch them as soon as you're able.
The record materia portion of customization is gated until you hit level 50 and start level-breaking characters with their memory crystals, so there's that to look forward to. Otherwise, it's pretty constricted compared to a mainline FF game. Granted, it's a mobile game.
I want all of the FFT people. Orlandu, Meliadoul, Alma. Fork 'em over, Squeenix.

If you make Thundara and Watera you should be able to get up through Vanille. Hope will be a lot harder; Dysley is a big asshole. With quests: Snow, Sazh, Lightning, Vanille is a very solid party. Just add Cloud or Wakka as necessary (probably Cloud).
The customization is primarily how you set up your party, but it does open up later like Deltree said.
edit: you can completely annihilate the first half of Hope's boss fight with a good AoE move from Roaming Warrior. Then you just need to pray Dysley doesn't annihilate you. I beat him this morning with a ~L20-25 core+Gordon party. (Add our roaming warriors from the first post in the topic! Oddrabbit doesn't play anymore I don't think but Jude/Craze/LockeZ/Deltree/Nessy all have excellent Roaming Warriors up)
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND spending your early mythril, maybe 2-3 pulls each, on the Hope banners. FF13 gives you a wide variety of equipment on its banners, something for most/all characters.

I haven't even touched the Hope event yet. Still doing the orb dungeons. When that ends I need to go grab Snow's memory crystal so I can continue to level him up during the Hope event.
And my suggestion will differ from Craze's. Only do 11-pulls on relics. You get an extra item which has a high probability of being s 4-star, which isn't to be underestimated. Most of the items you get from relic pulls will not be 5-star items, but you have a high probability of pulling 3 and 4 star items that synergize with that event. Single or triple pulls are wasteful. I also suggest doing your first pulls on FF7 or FF6 events, since those events are the most common due to FF7's popularity and FF6's high character count. Items gotten there will serve you best.
